i'm not putting cats down in any way but i think dogs are far more smarter then cats. my neighbour has 3 dogs and they all look both ways before crossing the road. why? because he trained them. A cat wouldnt be able to learn that because it doesnt have the brain to remember it before my neighbour died he was in the hospital with lung cancer. and his dog was next to the door to the room he was in. and as soon as he talked the dog started barking at the door and the dog came and sat next to him

- Cats can be toilet trained.

Dogs are smater then cats, it's been proved scientifically and in society. If cats were smarter then dogs then cops, handicapped people, or other workers would be using cats instead. Cat's don't know how to do the things dogs do, it's not that they don't want to, it's because they don't know how! Science proved this. Lol man, cat lovers are so full of it. I for one know that dogs are an extremely intelligent species.
I own a border collie mix (Border collies are regarded as the most intelligent breed of dog) and just knows what you're thinking. If you're with her, she observes you, and learns exactly what to do to manipulate you into doing what she wants. She's also extremely adapted to formulating methods of getting what she wants when she fails to manipulate you. For cat owners that say dogs are inferior, you haven't seen a border collie.

Cats can do tmost things on their own without training, and does it only if it wants to. Dogs are so gullible they'll do ANYTHING if you train them. Cats think " ... Nah, I don't really want to." training something to do something doesnt make it smart in my opinion. My grandmothers cat wouldnt leave her side when she died. it stopped eating and layed on my grandmas bed til it died.
a dog is never smarter than a chimp, i dont know where u got that from but its not any truth in that.

Think it all comes down to this - that cats and dogs are intelligent animals - but they are intelligent i different ways. The real issue is which kind of intelligence you faver the most.
In my oppinion it is clealy the dogs intelligence that is superior - the better ability to adapt and to take in new learning, is clealy what i faver the most. On top of that I really get sick of cat-women talking about their cats sitting and philosophise when its just sitting staring at something! Get real!

I'd like to see your cat come up against my dog in ANY contest whatsoever. Exvepth for jumping cooki would beat your cat. She runs faster than the neighborhood cats, which is a concern, and she knows how to handle them. (When they arch their backs, Cookie circles while barking to confuse them. It works well enough, because they always end up running.) The only cat on the street is a grumpy old cat who attacks anything who goes onto her property, be it cat, dog or human.

Feral cats have a life expectancy of two years, mostly because of malnutrition. So, basically they're easy prey for a well fed, big housecat. Cookie is 30lbs, (standard beagle weight) 11 months old and ann accomplished hunter. (numerous rats and crickets have fallen before her, and she nearly added a squirrel to her tally the other day.) Its surprising too, considering a suburban backyard is not a dogs hunting habitat of choice.
