I think ZJ was addressing the common argument made by christian apologists that they know the bible is right because the bible says so and the bible is the inspired word of god. These ancient manuscripts, dating 150 BCE to 70 CE, show that various Old Testament Scriptures were written before the time of Christ--and, more importantly, that the prophecies therein predicting the coming of Christ were in existence before as well.
Do you also realize those scrolls were discovered in the 20th century and that the Bible had been of religious significance for a little while already?

@okamichamploo My message is divided in 2 comments. The first begin with Deuteronomy 17 and the second with deuteronomy 17 : 5. Deuteronomy 17 : 4's last word is "Israel" so it looks like it's written "Israel 17 :5" when you read it, but all is from deuteronomy.

The biblical classification of animals, birds, insects, etc. is different to man's classification.
A bat is classified a bird in the Bible because it flies in the air. Whales and other sea living mammals are classed as fish because they live soley in the water.
Look closely at insects legs and some have have four legs pointing one way while some only point one way two times.
All "unclean" animals are scavengers. They eat dead things. They are natures rubbish collectors

Now, what you're basically confirming is that biblical phylogenetic classification is flawed, due to a flawed understanding of the organisms in question. I don't know what kind of loving and forgiving god CREATES something as absolutely horrible as hell for his subjects, simply for not obeying him.
If he is forgiving and loving then no one deserves to go to hell, if he is all powerful, then he has the ability to stop souls from going to hell.
Only a religion of resentment could have created something so awful as the concept of hell and put it into their children's minds. This is not teaching humility, this is preying on imagination and fear.

@LeeVsWorld you know I never really understood this argument even back when I was Christian. All the writers were part of the same religous tradition and any writers who differed were later excluded from the Bible as being apocrophyl or psuedo-apocraphal. So of the many writings within the Christian tradition the ones that were consistent and the church deemed authoritive made it into the Bible. Of course they all agree. They were selected that way.

ok so God has rules...or laws. the world is full of laws in some places even stealing can lead to death or having a limb cut off. Gods laws are stern but affective. Here if you cheat on someone, person pays for it (if married). not all places share the same laws or punishments but there still laws no matter how devistating the punishment. I think ZJ was addressing the common argument made by christian apologists that they know the bible is right because the bible says so and the bible is the inspired word of god. Many times, christians buck the idea that the bible was written by humans and is thus subject to human error because they use the bible to justify many of their own prejudices. This is, of course, fundamentalism.

These ancient manuscripts, dating 150 BCE to 70 CE, show that various Old Testament Scriptures were written before the time of Christ--and, more importantly, that the prophecies therein predicting the coming of Christ were in existence before as well.
