On the record I tend to skip this tune, but this live version is ballsier and it shows what a great band CCR was, and this is whats missing from Johns live shows now , no disrespect intended , those guys played so well together !
@MrZorrack Hate to tell you, but they are miming to the recorded version (by the way, one of the few bands that actually tried to do a good job of this. Most won't put the effort in.)

This comment is not just a "Oh the good 'ol days" kind of thing ... is a reality check. Have you noticed how in the 60's and 70's, 3 - 4 minutes were enough to make your mind fly and your spirit cheer? nowadays not even a whole discography of the new "musical prodigies" can achive that. What ever went wrong?
@superchivo1973 What ever went wrong? Well, for one thing, MTV. When music became more something to look at than to listen to, good music got started on its way out.
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music, thunb this up, then copy and paste it to t least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL DIE
@fknde Two things are wrong about that list , 1.) there is obviously more than 5% who like this music considering I've seen that comment A BILLION TIMES, 2.) Why isn't Creedence on that list? Their better than any of the bands you named,
If you really want to get thumbs up go come up with your own comment instead of coping and pasting somebody else's
they are lip syncing on this version i think? the backup singers aren't standing nearly close enough to get picked up by the mic?? plus sounds like more people singing? where are the amps??
but yeah, so amazing....so many hits....so underrated even perhaps?
i agree Fogerty's voice is what every rock band wish they had , i just fired my singer after listened to this, just kidding , but yeah i fired the singer while ago, if his voice was like Fogerty's i would have kissed his ass..to pull up with his shit.
Irish, my da had their LPs, i knew every word of every song by 13 yrs old. 36 and still coming back for more, CCR are as a commentator said below the most underrated band to come out of USA from 67-75. In my eyes they are #1.
35 years of listening to the original, 30 years of playing live music. That's all. It's exactly the version from the album, right down to the guitar tone. It was common in those days to lip synch on TV.
@rdphippo Oh, yeah, and the fact that John overdubbed the backup vocals on the original, and the backsups are his voice. *smile* Not downplaying CCR at all, but, Fantasy OWNED his ass, he had to do it their way..... meh..... I mean, they sued him for writing songs that sounded like him. Uh.... WHAT? LOL
i heard ccr lipsynced most of their songs live. i noticed that in some videos they are obviously lip syncing. someone please tell me that it isnt true!
kinda true. On the Johnny Cash show, it was kind of their rule that bands would lip sync, so when you see those, they probably are. But this? are you kidding....just listen to the voice, doesn't sound like out of a studio to me. Just good ol' John Fogerty
its true, just look at guitar. if it havent any wire, it is playbacked. but tell me. CCR made the best playback in 70´s. At least the drummer really played it.
The lead vocal is live but the backing is from the record (you'll recognise John's voice doing the massed harmony vocals all by himself by means of overdubs).
In the late 1960's and early 70's not many TV shows had the capability of having a band perform completely live. So some television performances were partially [or completely] pre-recorded. When they toured however they were kickass LIVE.
The back ups sound like pre-recorded John...but the song itself sure looks like it's coming straight from John's mouth! And no, CCR didn't lip sync most of their live performances. The Royal Albert Hall concert was as live as it gets for example.
@Cainefan I doubt many bands used pre-recorded sounds for material that the band could play on their own back then, neither CCR, but TV apperances were often lip-synced etc. It's hard to tell what this one is, what with the video quality, but as you say, the backup vocals are definitely pre-recorded.
it doesn't get any better than this - awesome beat, great guitar, unreal singing - they are top of the heap! They never got the recognition they deserved. I saw Fogerty last night in concert - he can still rock it out.
I meant his voice is perfect for country music not blues. Yes this song was done by a few old pre war blues artists like Mance Lipscomb, Lightnin Hopkins.
my fav john outfit is the red plaid shirt and leather pants!!!! LOLOLOLOLOL......they just make the 70's clothes work, man! they didn't need wardrobe people at all!
i heard those guitars are great and worth alot now a days but i dont like the way they look really, johns black and gold les paul is absolutley amazing!
Don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite bands playing a great song that was always sort of overlooked. BUT given how TV shows were done back around '68 to '70, it's almost a given that this is lip-synched. I realize CCR was justly famous for faithfully reproducing their recordings in concert, but if you listen to the album track, this is a little too perfect. Not to mention the invisible amplifiers.
