  • Nice j custom

  • 7-String POWER.Also THUMPS UP for pick clicking...

  • Awesome guitar dude, getting my Jcustom RG8420 this week!

  • what brand of pickups were in the Ibanez b4?

  • very nice, especially with no pinky. people can talk all the shit they want about playing with no pinky, but if you can pull it off, its just 25% more badass.

  • solo?

  • very nice man.. and I like the string noise, lets us hear the work you're putting in

  • Pretty Killer

  • "Hi I'm Roman and i have a j-custom"

  • great playing man!

  • Very cool! Great job!

  • Haha nice.

(Turn amp up a little) ;P

But good cover for the first half the song haha

  • roman its Tom nice stuff

  • thanks dude! but which tom lol?

  • from work

  • Not bad quality for a camera phone but pretty sick cover.

  • then where's the backround music? if he wasnt really playing it, u can here the backround music.

  • you're clearly retarded

  • BTW, I agree with Catholic11, but cool none of the less.

  • Good stuff, Bro...

Would love to hear the whole tune....

    U get 5outof5

  • the only thing i'd change is i'd turn up the guitar so you don't hear the strings rattle

  • the amp was actually pretty loud, i just pick super hard.

  • nicely done=)

  • awesome cover!

I just got a J-custom RG8570M TB, and they're amazing instruments! I don't play anything this crazy (yet), more like Satriani-esque leads, but this is really good!

  • dude.. talk about humility! i thot i was hot shit and i saw this and i made hot shit in mai pants!! haha great vid bro. sounded real clean

  • pretty awesome!

  • That guitar looks so awesome, love the inlay, but 8 strings is a lil too much for me, nice playing!

  • only seven strings for now ;)

    thanks tho

  • Why use 7 on a 8 string? 8 will sound brutal for sure!

  • thats a 7 string man... not an 8

  • Oh yeah I cant count ups:P

  • awesome!! but itll be cooler if you use a backing track this time!

  • Great looking guitar and you go it justice.

    Well done.

  • Отлично сыграно!

  • That guitar is absolutly stunning

  • only thing i can sugggest, slow it down a bit, and practice some accuracy.nice

  • Sick dude, do you got a tab for this?

  • this is one of those songs where most of the tabs for it are correct. just google it

  • Ok thanks man!

  • Where did you get your J? I've looked at Ibanez rulez. I'm just wondering if you got yours there or some where else.

  • I don't things that's a jem, theres no cutaway.

  • I, said "J" meaning J-custom. That's just what I call them. I can get a Jem anywhere.

  • fking awesomeeeeeeee!!! i kind of covered this too.. can you pleaaaaassssseee check it outttt??

  • Awesome playing, horrid tone. Why the fuck do people hate mids so much.

  • LOOOOL

  • PORCO DIO!!!!

  • Ah, poor, you stopped xD! had to laugh at that little smile there.

    You played too fast tho.

  • I liked the sound, and the guitar, well done dude!

  • pretty good man...

  • Great playing!

    Just two tips.

Turn the gain back from 13 to about 2:00

And remember what thee late PG hath saideth!

    Utiliseth Your Pinkyeth!

  • I do the Petrucci thing- I use it when I need it :-). Also this was done when I first got NI Guitar Rig 2, so I didn't have any time at all to modify any presets- the filming was completely impromptu

  • very good

  • who has the camera..isnt he distracting u?

  • the fretboard might seem wide... its a seven-stringed guitar. however its the thinnest seven-string guitar neck I have ever played... its the Ibanez 'Wizard 7 profile'... very comfortable and fast. the neck is identical to the neck on Ibanez Universe guitars from what I hear.

  • Very nicely done, and sound is pretty good for a phone to be..

  • killer sheets

  • your feet similar chris reifert

  • lol nice

  • your hands is similar chuck shuldiner

  • ... ill take that as a... compliment? haha

  • esatly...

  • great...I liked..

see my version too in my youtube cont

    tks...(=

  • What is the model of its guitar?

  • Ibanez J-Custom RG8427

  • am...too fast..there must be some pause...not so clean as that must be.

    and Vai's Ibanez...poo...richi-boy

  • a) recorded over a year ago now, impromptu, while I was first learning the song. My friend said 'play something', so I did

    b) not vai's Ibanez- its a J custom. You're thinking of a JEM, and no seven-string JEMs exist. The model number is RG8427

    c) I worked 50 hour weeks all summer last summer to buy that guitar. I take the bus to school because I bought that instead of a car

    d) as far as the song goes, I have another cover of it, its the video response.

  • i said that crappy on purpose - don't mention it. It's shit...god damn shit.

You good with fingers. Maybe alt. picking can be a little cleaner (i've already watched others videos). Grats)

  • I'll agree with you there. When I have time I will post a last (and final) cover, with the whole song ultra-clean, rythym guitar, and PG's exact solo. Stay tuned.

  • Sweet playing!!!

    And fucking sweet guitar!!

  • Sweet j. custom

  • your guitar is the best and there hard as hell to get. Awsome:)

  • not hard to get at all, you order it, you pay for it, you get it. simple, really. :)

  • shame though, with the current state of the US economy, the exchange rate is horrible. The price of this guitar has gone up almost 400 dollars for us because of it...

  • Could be worse, we pay about $2500 or so for a 2008 prestige s body over here in Aus. I've seen cheaper but that's about the average. Not too sure about how much a J Custom would cost here, though. In the end it's still money very well spent. :) Keep rocking dude

  • Australia fucking sucks, the wholesalers are screwing us all over lol, I order online now

  • Australia rocks! high prices , however, most definitely suck hairy testicles.

  • Vary nice!

  • You Rock!!!!NICE!!!!

  • thanks a lot! check out the vid of me playing it live

  • great job dude~

    5*

  • for the breakdown kinda bridgey section u dont have to pick all the notes like u cud do 2 picks and then pull of the next two if u get me.. like 5-5-3-0 just pick the 5-5 part, hope this helps

  • thanks, I 've learned it since. This video was impromptu recorded by a friend when I was first learning the song. If you take a look at the video response, thats's me playing the song live (correctly)

  • i though economy picking was alternate picking?

  • not at all. if you were to economy pick, you would play a 3-note per string scale, say G major ascending with these pickstrokes:

down up down DOWN up down up down DOWN... etc

if you alternate picked, every single pickstroke is different than the one before it, so each time you start a new string, its on a different pickstroke than the last one you started.

  • paul gilbert plays all the notes it sounds better

  • this was recorded about this time last year. Everything is ultra-clear now. I'm just loathe to remove a video which just hit 4000 hits.

  • awesome! But paule doesn't pick everything, his pull-off's and hammer-on's are a big part of how he gets his sound. Your awesome for only playing for a year with alternate picking by the way!

  • again, really good job. i'm so jealous

  • jealousy is only constructive when you use it to motivate yourself to practice. I had been working on alternate picking in general for about a year when I recorded this vid (I economy picked before then)

  • yo you sexy bastard

  • Awesome bro!!!

  • Come to think of it, I don't know where got it into my head that you were playing in a competition... thought I read it somewhere...

And you mean to say that I'll pick much cleaner from the WRIST, right??

  • everybody always talks about a competition, what competition?

I dont recognize the wird 'tenitus', but picking from the elbow will cause neither 'tinnitus' of the ears (lol), nor will it cause any repetitive-strain injury because the muscles and ligaments in question are much less sensitive than the ones in the wrist.

however, you will pick much cleaner from the wrist- so i recommend switching asap

  • Where'd you pick up that axe?

  • I got it used from a dude in Manhatten. However, you can order them online from ikebe-gakki or ishibashi and get it shipped from japan.

  • Heh, I might just do that! I've heard they're really amazing guitars.

Great job btw. You're advice to the other guy was helpful to me aswell as I also need to revamp my picking technique (got in the habit of picking from the elbow(which can lead to tenitus, I've heard)). Hope to hear more from you and good luck in your competition

  • fucking great job man

    i love your guitar to

  • Woah. How did yo get your alternate picking up to that speed?

  • practice at like 20 bpm. Minimize your pick motions, make sure you move your wrist to pick, but use your arm to change strings, therefore ensuring that your pick angle remains the same for all strings. (this is arm+wrist technique). Slightly flatten your pick angle to hit those new strings on upstrokes... hope this helps

  • Ill try it as best i can thanks. When you said 20bpm, do you mean 4 notes every beat?

  • well that sequence at 0:28 is 16th note sextuplets, meaning six notes per beat.

as far as how many notes per beat, you can even do whole notes at 20bpm. Im sure youll find not every note is mechanical and perfect, and you have noise while switching strings. Fix that, and eventually from practice youll have to set the metro higher (make sure you arent just racing yourself with the metro, dont move it up until you are 100% perfect)

  • whole notes, i dont think so lol. ill be waiting 3 seconds each note then, haha.

  • exactly. can you hold a note for 3 seconds perfectly and then hit the next perfectly, picking with absolute minimal motions? how many times in a row can you do that?

  • Im not even going to try. But i can play 4 notes every 60 bpm beat. Clean.

  • all im saying is that clean is relative. if you cant play clean at, say 180 with 16th notes, then there is probably something fundamentally wrong with your technique.

the hardest (and most effective) way to get your speed up is to go waaay down what you think youre comfortable with and completely revamp your technique (ive done this at least six or seven times for my picking so far)

  • ive done it about twice, but i think theres many more revamping to come lol. THanks for your tips.

  • i love your fret board, and y r u playin it like a classical guitar?

  • because that way you get optimal finger positioning... I saw rusty cooley doing it, tried it, and havent gone back.

I have short fingers so optimal positioning (with the thumb really low) is how I can hit all notes well

  • cool, good idea

  • note that my guitar is on my left leg, that really helps. Also, I usually keep my foot on something while I play. Live, thats usually a monitor, but at home its usually my amp (classical footstools work too)

My vine on my fretboard looks nothing like a JEM in the flesh, which is one of the reasons I like it.

    Hope this helped

  • sick

  • nice cover!!!

what kind of guitar is that?

  • Ibanez J custom RG8427BX with Blaze Custom/Blaze Neck. Ibanez J customs are small batch, only released in Japan, handmade instruments.

  • nice song

    nice guitar

    and very nice playing.

    5 stars for you too

thanks for coment on my video

    ;)

  • awesome work man

  • Hey..nice cover...this is Rafael Nery from another video of technical difficulties

  • Keep up the good work. Nice sound too

  • That was great, I'm also working on this song. My hands hate me for doing it >_>

  • wow man great job and thanks for the comment on mine yours is a lil more impriessive tho cuz its on real guitar lmao and when u learn full song put that up i love the guitar haha

  • I am impressed by your whole approach, and way to dig in. It's very important to be almost percussive in your attack, if you want to emulate Paul's picking technique, and you have it down nicely. Very Nice One Taker bro'. a.p.b.@Sick Licks

  • thanks a lot dude... actually this vid was filmed a while ago, and my buddy just recently got around to uploading it.

since then, ive really really started to dig in really hard for certain notes to really separate them and make everything sound cleaner.

  • Understood. a.p.b.

  • good picking man, but you can't miss the easiest part hahaha anyway it doesn't count, you have an ibanez ;) heheh

    keep rocking,

is that you the blondie guy with a white jem?

  • nope, thats the guy from Wintersun. Hes pretty sick, no?

  • you own as a guitar player.

  • that was amazing man, can't wait for the guitar ensemble gig. (this is Alan)

  • yeah man, me too... It will be filmed too,so Ill have about three more vids up, one of them being this song live.

  • By the way , Fucker shut up the hell up You don't suck , I wish you the best luck on your contest , Rock on man

  • :| dude... you're picking technique ...don't see much of it around , you're depending on your hmmm memory , not cheating i don't know how to describe it i mean it's freaking great , you play a lot of classical ... am i right?

  • On a 7 string? Nice :-D!

    I want that guitar!!

  • swett
