Not really. I, for instance need to intall windows applications and the possibilities that windows gave. I bought the EEE 900 with linux, and i really wanted to like it, but i struggled to even upgrade the outdated versions of firefox and openoffice that shipped with it.
It all depends on your needs i guess. Linux didn't work for me, so installed XP on it.

ion isn't out yet. linux's user interface is much more customizable than that of windows. it seems you don't know very much about how linux works at all. it's boring? just as boring as windows or any other os. it's only confusing if you don't want to learn anything new or aren't very good with computers. it seems that you aren't, so i would recommend you stay with windows, or maybe get a mac. they're nice and easy - perfect for your level of knowledge. ^_~
i know Ion isnt out yet, but it will be, with Linux you cant full customize the taskbar really like you can weith windows, you can get whole new themes for windows, i know alot about computers, but mostly hardware, and macs are good for nothing peices of shit, you pay double the price for 2 year old hardware
with linux you can customize a lot more than just a task bar. it is FAR more customizable than windows. you can change any aspect of the operating system since it is completely open source. maybe you don't even know what that means. it sure sounds like it. you can get themes for windows, sure. you can get themes for linux, too. or you can make your own. learn a bit more about linux before you go making claims about it that are so far from the truth.

Agreed. It was better with Linux. Selling Windows Xp - which Microsoft isn't supporting beyond sometime next year - is a poor choice. It also put the price up. The eeePCs were looking good until the Windows versions came out and the gap between and a cheap laptop more or less closed.
Ndogg012: Microsoft gives low pricing for Windows to PC makers who ONLY load Windows. You pay for a Windows licence even on a PC with no OS at from all major vendors. So they refuse to sell or load any other OS. Been that way for 20 years now. PC buyers have no choice.
