@lucasperry16 He was making a joke..we all understand the concept of him figuratively speaking of a newspaper as more of a subjective term. We know he's talking about a newspaper business. And look..now the joke isnt even funny...
He's just a man. Since when did he signed up to be a model for society? People aren't lobotomized! They have free will and are still responsible for their own choices. Paul was right!
Masterful handling of the media, Sir Paul. That dude just wouldn't shut up about it, while trying to make it look like it was something scandalous that you did or were promoting. McCartney pwns.
I feel a need to say this even if it's just here. I believe that every person deserves their own freedom. A freedom of choice, to choose and not be forced to do anything. I believe that a parent has a responsibility to care for their child, however once that child becomes an adult they should be entitled to do as they please behind closed doors and no one should have any right to say otherwise. As long as that person is respectful and doesn't impose their habits or beliefs on others. Decisions.
@shitaliscious thats actaully a correct thing to say. youre thinking that by "newspaper" he means the physical thing, but its perfectly reasonable to refer to a company such as the new york times as "THE NEWSPAPER"..... the subject is obviously known to be the news paper company interviewing him right now and thats who hes referring to
"As a public figure, youv got the responsability to..." What? Lie to everyone who asks you a question about drugs? Paul had it right, if the media are going to accuse him of speading drug culture because they broadcast his interview, then they need to take a look at their own responsabilities.
Decision was whether to tell a lie or tell the truth.......good job Paul. It IS a commandment folks isn't it? Thou shalt not lie!!! Im not religious, just pointing out the hypocrisy of life.
i don't hold anything against him for his point of view but it is however naive. the government hasn't curtailed and sanctioned cigarette ads for no reason. phillip morris paid the production of hundreds, maybe thousands of films for it's stars to smoke on screen because they know it influences people to take it up. i don't have a problem with paul taking acid or talking about it but talking about it in the media does have the power to influence people. from his haircut to his clothes.
paul really is right. he gives an honest answer and the media puts it out there and makes it seem like he's a bad influence. the media are always trying to make celebs look bad. people shouldnt be so concerned with celebs being a "bad role model". kids need to know how even good people make bad decisions. and i doubt anyone goes and does drugs just because a celeb did them. it's lazy parents trying to blame everything on something/someone else.
@timmy47 Who says doing LSD is a bad decision? I am agreeing with you on every point, but responsibly and safely experimenting with LSD and other psychedelics is far from a bad decision. It can be more enlightening than anything else in the whole world, and not physically damaging at all if you're smart about it. This comes from a person that has not even tried it yet, so be a bit more open-minded mate, that's not to say I haven't done other substances. It's a matter of facts.
@timmy47 Who's to say that Paul made "bad decisions" about whether 2 take drugs or not? It's as bad as the reporter 4 U 2 say that-Rather judgmental, isn't it mate? As Paul just said here: It's a '"personal" decision(about whether 2B honest in his response 2 the media actually)However, I extrapolated just a bit as 2 it being a 'personal' decision 2 take a drug or not-It seems 2 me that Paul has done quite well in his life, hasn't he? I've seen him play LIVE(w/Linda&Wings) IT WAS AMAZING!
I see Paul's point on this, but if you're going to tell something like this to a newspaper, how can you expect them NOT to spread it? Did he really think the guy was gonna keep it quiet? Paul's quite right in a sense, but the guy was only doing his job.
@Preciety the guy's NOT doing his job, because he's telling Paul to "be quiet, don't talk about drugs, it's bad for the kids, you're encouraging the fans" but then the newspaper goes and does the exact opposite of what he told Paul to do. If the newspaper thinks that that kind of information shouldn't be spread, then they're not doing a very good job by spreading it, are they?
If it's the "truth" as he says, then how is the newspapers fault, if they are spreading the "truth"? It's not their fault that the "truth" is shit. They are not the ones making up the truth, it's their job to report it. Why ask a man NOT to do his job - the guy didn't ask Paul NOT to sing...
@swtorguideonline the thing about this is that the interviewer and the newspaper seem to hold a stance that what Paul is telling them shouldn't be spread. so then why do they go and spread it?
Everybody knows that the media are the ones proposing the interviews, sometimes even pushing for them. In that case, THEY are the ones responsible for the «bad influence».
unreal interview.... paul almost acting like john there with his honesty and straight forward, philosophical points. the man spreaks the truth. and it is whats wrong with the media today.
hahahaha i think that completely encouraged people to take LSD. not that its a big LSD lifes not worth living without LSD. BUT if somebody is a role model and does drug, just plain and simple impressionable kids will do the same drugs. For example I watched the tenacious D movie then was like "I MUST SMOKE WEED. IT IS MY DESTINY" and have been smoking it ever since and never plan on stopping
judging by your youtube account name then you already have a stigma against taking any sort of drug. thus you have significantly less credibility because you have a bias opinion.
@blobybob judging by your comment, you think my account is serious. thus you have significantly less credibility because you should have known better scrub
I dont mean to be a dick, but did you not watch the video? Like he said himself he was in a situation where he could either lie or tell the truth. He chose to tell the truth. It was the media that asked him in the first place. Also notice how (at least in this video) he's neither promoting nor demonizing drug usage.
Furthermore, if someone is going to do drugs merely because a celebrity does as well, than they are intolerably stupid. I was a kid once too, but c'mon really?
@SeabassMMM Yes that is exactly what i'm saying. Kids should look up to doctors and things of that nature not drunk bro sports players and drugged out musicians and movies stars. Besides that your analysis of the situation "do drugs merely because a celebrity does as well, than they are intolerably stupid" is a completely glib interpretation...its human nature to follow role models not being "intolerably stupid". I'm sure you will still disagree in the face of conflicting evidence.
@abovetheinfluence555 Doctors are filthy people. Not surgeons or paramedics or the ones that actually save lives but the ones that prescribe amphetamines to kids because they're hyperactive due to a poor diet and have been diagnosed with "ADD" the ones that automatically prescribe benzos and SSRI's which both do FILTHY amounts of damage to you, more than most 'hard street drugs'. and whats worse is people think that they're helping. Also...Nothing wrong with psychedelics.
@AlexTheLunchBox Well I love psychedelics so that wasn't my point, and when I say they look up to doctors thats just an example of a career that makes a lot of money, i'm aware doctors prescribe basically heroin for back pain and all sorts of crazy stuff. My point was if kids have a role model who goes to school and doesn't drop out to sell drugs, they will be slightly more likely to take the school path.
@abovetheinfluence555 Paul is amazing and LSD was the influence for a couple of their songs, stop trying to act like you know all about drugs when you havent even gave them a chance or took time to actually research them, your only fucking 12 and you act like you know all about drugs, your video was also fucking stupid and most pot heads are smarter them you, i cant tell by the horrible grammar in your video
The poor press thought that the Beatles were responsible for the use of drugs. So blissfully ignorant, By the time that the word was out about the Beatles and Acid it was old news in their fan base. Acid became popular in the early 60's with Timothy Leary and the Haight-Ashbury area.
The Beatles had ZERO effect on the use of LSD by anyone except themselves.
I'm still amazed on how people continue to believe that he's dead.
Plastic surgery was just starting at the 60's, it's totally impossible to make that many sergury without any scars or something.
Stop that people, he's very alive.
Faces are always changing, compare lennon's faces from 67 and 64, it also change.
it's really normal, and yet paul had a motocycle accident, where he broke his teeth, you can see that on Paperback Writer clip, it also made the face change a bit.
wow ... respect to Paul!!!!!.. another way of looking at it ... someone goes to the bathroom and poops in the toilet ... somone else comes in and pulls it out of the toilet and smears it all along the walls all over the floor ... shit is everywhere ... who's fault is it???? the guy who pooped becasue he forgot to flush???? or the idiot who's playing with the turd????
if he looks like Noel shitface Gallagher its because that talentless twat has spent years emulating the Beatles and their music. Fucking idiots..Noel looks like Paul you morons!
@general18089 good point, i'm surprised more people here didn't catch on to that. but i disagree :) he shouldn't have done dope? did you like the Beatles music or not?
brilliant straight talking, and the press in england are still fucking bullshitters blaming celebrities for society today when they're the ones who publicise and effectively promote it
@trisoutlaw86 moral of the story?.....always avoid telling the truth to those who will manipulate it in every possible way to sell trash and profit from controversy, all the while working towards a preconceived end with a manipulative agenda (i.e. "drugs are bad...except for sacred alcohol - the liquid drug - and the endless pills your physician will scribe out to you...")
@SmileyGarrish i think that is not the moral of the story!! telling the truth is first and foremost the best moral. i think people shouldn't perpetuate the manipulators' agenda by making the truth tellers hide and cower. paul's on a mission here and unfortunately there aren't enough people like him doing what he's doing.
He was the man. John and Paul were both very smart inspired people. Much of a new movement is devoted to how they saw the world and the art they created, drugs being an irrelevant but necessary attribute of that message. Go to Google and search The Truth Contest, click on that first result, then click on The Present. You'll never look back

HES ALIVE BITCHES.

He's so true it's not even funny. It's amazing how the media is sometimes so unaware of their impact on society.

@jakerusk oh, they're aware. they're also aware that they can make a lot of money having that kind of impact.

@ansionnachcliste EXACTLY my first thought. Saw Gallagher on Saturday and his haircut is definitely similar to Paul's. Even the attitude is the same

This guy's trying to push the responsibility off of himself.
"Yeah I murdered someone. But it's the responsibility of YOU not to tell anyone..."
Such b.s.

@RocknForJesus no dude he didn't do anything harmful to another person so comparing it to a murder is ridiculous :)

SmileyGarrish 2 weeks ago
@SmileyGarrish i think that is not the moral of the story!! telling the truth is first and foremost the best moral. i think people shouldn't perpetuate the manipulators' agenda by making the truth tellers hide and cower. paul's on a mission here and unfortunately there aren't enough people like him doing what he's doing.
jedrzejku 2 weeks ago
"No it's YOUR responsibility" ahhh stuck it to him.

He was the man. John and Paul were both very smart inspired people. Much of a new movement is devoted to how they saw the world and the art they created, drugs being an irrelevant but necessary attribute of that message. Go to Google and search The Truth Contest, click on that first result, then click on The Present. You'll never look back
