  • Digging the 'Chung; they produced a lot of excellent work--not just in terms of songs, but also technical innovation. If you enjoyed this you should check out U2's earliest videos, before they even knew who they were.

  • super-vid congratulations from spain

  • Great band! WONDERFUL SONG........."Hold Back the Tears"

  • Very different (and better) than the final album version of the song...

  • It's a tremendous advantage to get the original maker to post it! This is a true gem.

  • good decision to kick the saxophon out in the end, it was no good!

  • Maybe familiarity has a lot to do with it but the original LP version (in my opinion) is so much better than this one (edgier, the extra reverb making it fuller).

  • This is a different version than the Huang Chung LP. They had a sax player named Hogg or something.

  • Yeah the sax player in this videoo is hogg and i think the last name was robinson it's the same guy

  • but his real name is dave burnand

  • These guys need to get back for music's sake music is dying all the crap that's around these were the days when music was actually good well more than good life changing excellent inspiring in so many ways.

  • This is gold. I want it!

  • This sounds a bit different from the version that is on the Huang Chung LP..?

  • Wonderful! i am a die-hard fan of WCh(huang chung) and never saw this clip before wharsoever, could I have a copy of this one? let me know if this is possible!!thanx in advanced, jackhues

  • The best band in my opinion of the 80's they had everything i'm pleased the americans saw it but the brits didn't

  • Great band. Very underated. It irritates me when they're referred to as a one hit wonder because that's simply not the case they had numerous hits both in Britain and the US. And just because material doesn't chart does not mean it's bad, some of the greatest records ever recorded were b-sides. Looking foward to their new album.

  • @jamesyireland They only had 1 top 75 hit in the UK with Dance Hall Days (No 21) they should have been huge, the album this is off is fantastic, had the CD for ages.

  • Eh, you guys didn't get enough credit!

  • What did you get for a grade on this video? ;)

  • Darren! Not seen you since Marina Del Rey 1986/7. How be! Andy Thomas

  • AMAZING!!!!

Where the F*** did you get this?

    Got to have a copy.

This was our first ever video as Huang chung and was directed by Bud Merrick at an arts college pre record deal in 81/82.

    Daza. Drummer with the chungs

  • First, are you sure that is Huang Chung? If so, how well did you know them? P.S., do you also know if this was their official music video for "Hold Back the Tears", or was this some promo?
