  • i made it and with 10 ml of alcohol works 6-7 minutes

  • awesome job, i just recently made my first penny stove, im very happy with how it performs so far. it is about the same size as yours, maybe slightly bigger, and less jets. i filled it half way with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and achieved a burn time of 1 hour and 10 minutes, i am going to do the boil test tomorrow to see how long it takes to boil water. then my next project is going to be the tin can rocket stove.

thanks again for the great vid.

  • IS jb weld needed to secure both halves or can you get away without it ?

  • Stove is great but the music makes me want to pour the alcohol over me and set myself on fire.

  • can you put the pot on directly or do you need a stand

  • what fuel use ?

  • @alfa70000 idk what fuel would you put in your alcohol burner?

  • @alfa70000 Denatured alcohol (SLX) - available at home improvement/hardware stores.

  • how long does that usally last

  • what kind of alcohol are you using, like drinking alcohol or pharmecedic alcohol?

  • Wow I will be trying this in my lab. This burns better then the cheap little alcohol burners I've purchased.

  • NICE LITTLE BURNER !!!

  • WHOA, THIS SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL, this is EPIC!

  • It's beautiful :D

  • great job

  • I can haz ramenz?

  • very handy camping device!

  • damn. thats a clean flame.. just like a propane/oxy torch. have your tried tweaking how much oxy is used to burn?

  • very smart there. if it's not patented you really should get it done.

  • can you use this with methlyated spirits?

  • @MrShooters987 from what I understand about the flammability and evaporation temperature, yes.

  • awesome experiment bro good luck ...;D

  • What the burn time on this? I'm guessing about a half ounce to a two ounce capacity of fuel, have you done any tests to determine burn time?

  • what is the exact fuel

  • @theonethatgoofs

    denatured alcohol

  • You are a smart young man, they don't make people like you any more. It's become a nanny state, no one is allowed to play like this these days. Well done. Well presented. Hope you go on to study at a university.

  • amazing video and great job on the stove and wats the name of that song

    Happy Muffin Song from Newgrounds

  • what did you pour in the stove

  • @davethewave3231

    Denatured Alcohol

  • I am homeless and made several of these to carry with me. Very light weight and works perfectly. With 3 I can cook dinner and make a hot drink.

  • @siesonekmk Wow did you used one of these to post on youtube too?

  • @sleePerCore I have a laptop yo and my city is covered in WiFi

  • Very smart kid..! Great video kid..!

  • very nice i only have one question how do you put it out?

  • @sms24460

Blow on it quite hard or put a can over it to snuff it out

  • Isn't this stove actually called a penny stove?

  • @utubeworms

It could be if it was, but it isn't. My friend put a penny on his and it melted.

  • that is a well done alcohol stove

  • excellent job

  • O.o the flame range is just like a gas stove's :D

  • If u get a bolt that reaches close to the bottem of the stove it will heat the alcohol by just priming the stove on the top. Try it it works great.

  • @Gorthjrod It looks like that is what he did.

  • what was the alchol

  • denatured alcohol from the hardware store

  • nice! i find it vary interesting on how these kinds of stoves work

  • lol mine takes like 2 mins to prime cuz it leaks

  • Will this stove still prime properly if you just pour some fuel into the depressed center and light it, rather than putting the entire stove into flame?

  • no, because you have to get the alcohol vaporising to sustain a burn. lighting the alcohol on the top doesn't provide enough heat to do this.

  • Awesome stove, man! Great video demo. Thanks for sharing. BTW, what music track have you got playing in the bg?

  • the Happy Muffin song from newgrounds

  • You have a really nicely built stove there.

I have a feeling the performance was compromised by burning it on a relatively colder, massive, concrete floor. Heat intended 4 water quickly conducts 2 colder objects in contact with it and quickly radiated 2 cold objects within close proximity.

Try placing an insulated pad with a shiny, metalic, reflective surface underneath your burner, and retest your performance. Remember, the heavier your pot is, the more energy it will take to heat it.

  • not bad at all i must say ! good work ! ( glad i found the 2nd video almost missed it ) makes me want to dig out my coleman and go camping ! i dont know what you used for fuel but i got this 1 because it can run on gasoline or the normal coleman fuel. i liked having the option of burning more then 1 kind im betting alcohol would work as well

  • i use denatured alchol from the hardware store. it is sold as a camp stove fuel.

  • yo bro, whats the fuel in the vid ? i tried with aftershave but its not good enough, do i need to pre heat the base ? cheers !

  • totally have to pre-heat, try putting it on concrete and pouring some fuel on the concrete and lighting the fuel on the concrete while the stove is in the pool that should prime it good enough for testing purposes

  • lol haha i made 1!

  • yes, i know. i helped you.

BTW, the JB Weld should be dry by now.

  • So cool, great job!!

  • What are you using to light the flame? Some kind of flint thingy? Just very interested, Thanks

  • it is a magnesium fire starter that i bought at a boy scout camp a while ago.

  • I like the flame pattern, Great job.

  • thanks for the input! this is my other youtube account.

  • Good Job !!!

    Bill
