Just like if you played baseball and didn't know who Derek Jeter was. Guess what, other baseball players would probably think you were an idiot. Kenny Aronoff has been a huge name in drumming for decades. Look up his discography. The artists he has worked with make AX7 look like a joke. It's sad that Jimmy's name is more socially prevalent.
@karinosai Jimmy was great though, and it's sad that we lost him. Don't get me wrong on that. I'm not trying to taint his memory at all. He really was an excellent drummer. He just did not have the history and the versatility that demands the respect Aronoff deserves.

Apart from that, you can't compare Fogerty's Cajun Country Rock to Led Zep's heavy rock. Two different types of music, requiring different styles of playing. Each is brilliant, in their own sphere. Try appreciating musicians for what they do, in their field, instead of being totally biased towards one style.

Great story from Aronoff! John used to have to tell Cosmo how to play back in the CCR days, and NO ONE can legitimately doubt Fogerty's dedication to perfection. I remember when he played the Welcome Home Vietnam Vets concert back in '84 (his first live shows, at that time, in over a decade). Who did he recruit? Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn from Booker T's band! I also remember John challenging George Thorogood in an interview at the time to recommend a better band than the one he'd assembled!

I dont see why people like to compare bands or singers. they are not the same and thats why you either like or dislike. because they are different, I would think that you would want variety . but not all bands try to explore new music, but the ones that do are the ones that tend to stick around much longer than the rest. many of the artists that were mentioned are different in many ways. if you like them or not you should atleast show some respect and not diss them
@elkintobitle Aronoff's saying Fogarty has really high standards, and Fogarty notices when Aronoff isn't at his absolute best, but it's ok, because it's good that Fogarty really cares about the drumming.

Ok, your right a bit. I wasn't a Beatles fan. I like Abbey Road & the White Album. I loved Wings. I started out my record collection on The Monkees & Partridge Family AS A KID. The Beatles were just ok. Radio music. As I got older, Zeppelin & Boston, Van Halen became my favs. James Gang, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper to name a few. The music later on in the 80's went back to the basic (IMO) BORING Beatles type pop standards & garbage metal, so I started listening to fusion. I favor Progressive music

Great story from Aronoff! John used to have to tell Cosmo how to play back in the CCR days, and NO ONE can legitimately doubt Fogerty's dedication to perfection. I remember when he played the Welcome Home Vietnam Vets concert back in '84 (his first live shows, at that time, in over a decade). Who did he recruit? Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn from Booker T's band! I also remember John challenging George Thorogood in an interview at the time to recommend a better band than the one he'd assembled!

I dont see why people like to compare bands or singers. they are not the same and thats why you either like or dislike. because they are different, I would think that you would want variety . but not all bands try to explore new music, but the ones that do are the ones that tend to stick around much longer than the rest. many of the artists that were mentioned are different in many ways. if you like them or not you should atleast show some respect and not diss them

I liked their arguments!I havent read all of it but I understand them both as real nice music lovers!Why argument started here I dont care but I appreciate their knowledge of THE SINGERS & BANDS who rocked our world at large!! Ok, your right a bit. I wasn't a Beatles fan. I like Abbey Road & the White Album. I loved Wings. I started out my record collection on The Monkees & Partridge Family AS A KID. The Beatles were just ok. Radio music. As I got older, Zeppelin & Boston, Van Halen became my favs. James Gang, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper to name a few. The music later on in the 80's went back to the basic (IMO) BORING Beatles type pop standards & garbage metal, so I started listening to fusion. I favor Progressive music
