I considered that this device could be used exclusively to close distance with a target while in full disguise for a quick very close quarters ganking (within blade drawing range) or maybe pump someone with some quick kidney jabs from behind.

@scottbaioisdead the problem with this device would be that simply there would be more efficient means to deal with someone at extreme close quarters than having a false handled blade. I find this device to be (from what little 'I think' I understand) of ninjutsu philosophy and taijutsu (though dont take at all for granted 'authenticity'-which if you are hoping for you must face it, that you are completely fucked from square 1). flexibility/usefunessFAIL economy of motionFAIL creativityPASS

I have seen early footage of Hatsumi Sensei showing this kind of Ninjatou. I have often thought of trying to reproduce a similar weapon myself for my collection. And for cd6555, quit watching idiots like Choson Foowey there and try doing some actual research from credible sources instead of listening to his BS. The straight bladed "Ninjato" was a product of Hollywood. Not of traditional Ninjutsu!

i heard, from jiro009cuts that, he researched, (asking hyoujnsama for info as well (about the muzori- shinogi something like that, the straight blade geometry style, and one thing he mentioned was that during the bakamatsu, late edo etc. thatsome people forged and wielded straight swords ( with the intention of A being distinctive, b possibly hark back to the chokuto. as a symbol for imperialist loyalists? does that come up at all in your records?
