  • How would you use that? It looks interesting, and I can try and picture some situations were having something like this might be a tactical advantage (like if someone tried to pull your sword out), but I'd like to know the historically correct way you might go about using this sword configuration.

  • Just a little bit of a note here, to help clear up some confusion: Straight, single-edged blades, called chokuto, did exist in history, but the tachi was much more effective. There were a few double-edged katana-style blades made afterward, with no curvature, but real examples of this are very rare. Ninjas were more likely to carry a wakizashi, with a standard-length katana tsuka and saya, so that they could get a faster draw speed and gain the upper hand in combat against a samurai.

  • @ChaosScourge777 ninja were samurai. i covered everything you said in the video already.

  • @scottbaioisdead dude seriously get yerself a girl or something and leave the rest of us alone cool ideas though. just keep the bantering to a minimum it's annoying

  • guy you are talking mega bullshit ......what you say is wrong ......i know real real ninjato's and what you are telling is more bullshit than the teachings of jesus christ.....straight swords exist ....and that thing you shwodes does never exist ......because you cannot use it .....how should one .....but good that only 6,5 k saw your vid because so not everybody believe this shit

  • @RonSchnabel ooh so you know more than nawa yumio? So which museums have straight ninjato predating the 90s? I know a few examples of the sword I've shown but how about you? Which academic sources are you. Using? Please respond in japanese.

  • @scottbaioisdead chokuto

  • HA....have you ever been to the Ninja Mueseums in Japan? You will see there WAS straight swords. THEY were used and they DID exsist. Get your Facts straight!

  • @KagaKiyomitsu you mean the ninja theme park in japan. that straight sword at the ninja museum is made of wood and was made in 1990. try watching our videos. we have letters from the director of those places and they state the sword never existed. view the video "my trip to koka and iga" fucking moron

  • @scottbaioisdead Ohh the name calling starts.....good job fuck face....hey why dont you go troll someone else...maybe you will feel better ^^

  • @KagaKiyomitsu you came to my video dumbass, that makes you the troll. you quote some bullshit from people who don't speak japnese and have never been to japan. people who actually speak japanese, visited the theme park and saw that it was a display about television ninja know the truth. and it's sukoshi not shikoshi, learn japanese dumbass. it's amazing all you fucks with japanese names worshipping greg park. all of japan hates chosonninja. as does korea.

  • @scottbaioisdead I do not worship him in any way. I have not yet said anything in japanese so I cant be the dumb ass there. I do not hate Greg nor do I like him. Some video's are ok but you have to take it as what it is....just a video lol. Indeed I have came to your video. Japan hates him for lieing, and Korea hates him for god knows what. Remember though, its a video.

  • @KagaKiyomitsu you have. remember i am amazing at gathering information. you don't like greg but you're his friend and subscriber? how strange.

  • @scottbaioisdead If your so good at getting information, tell me my name...yes Im friends with him and a subscriber as some videos are worth watching.

  • @KagaKiyomitsu james

  • @scottbaioisdead Hands down your right ^_^. Yes I have said it BUT I have just started so my spelling is off. Self teaching is abit hard BUT its a work of progress. sorry if I sounded like an ass ^_^...its just been a long day man. Your new video however is spot on about the hakama. When I got started into the history I only figured there was only 2 types. BUT I found out later there was more. Yes I dont know alot of the Ninja..I go by what Ive read in afew books. So please forgive my ignorance.

  • @KagaKiyomitsu aww james you made your channel private, did i scare you?

  • @scottbaioisdead Nope...I just wanted to see if you could get it without my profile ^_^

  • ninja toe?

  • Wow what a waste of money you may as well have bought a spoon to defend yourself with, unless its a shitty display peice, which i think is more probable.

  • I'm interested. But I have a question, how do you draw that thing? Could you make a video about that? thanks.

  • Wow... all the name calling... lol. btw I gotta ask... how does one execute a kaiten roll with a wooden scabbard on their back? hmmm...

  • The Ninjato (忍者刀, ninjatō?), also known as ninjaken (忍者剣?) or shinobigatana (忍刀?), is the most common name for the Japanese sword that the ninja were thought to have carried. It is often depicted as being a short sword, often portrayed as having a straight blade with a square tsuba. There is no historical evidence of the 'ninjato', and modern depictions of the sword originate from portrayals that were seen in early Hollywood movies.

    this is from wiki...

  • @kain38 ninja didn't use straight swords. the end.

  • Comment removed

  • @kain38 whats his name and where in japan can i contact him? what ryu of ninjutsu? how can you explain the complete historical absence of straight blades from about 1100 ad? how can you explain theres no historical record of ninja assassination? straight bokken? you know japanese people don't use the word bokken right? did this "ninja" tell you about these bokken? do you know who i am?

  • Comment removed

  • @kain38 i hate it when little fucks like you make up this ninja fantasy bullshit. prove this fucking guy exists and you'll be a millionaire because you'll have a verifiable ninjutsu ryu. now is the part where you act like a little bitch and say you don't want money. i deal with fucks like you everyday. i research ninjutsu, i've been published as an expert on ninjutsu, i speak japanese, i own every book printed on ninjutsu since 1917, i own real ninjutsu scrolls. now prove this guy exists.

  • Comment removed

  • @kain38 you didn't answer the question, whats his name? what ryu of ninjutsu does he study? how can i contact him? i love how theres so many secret ninja masters who teach cheese smelling gaijin who spread this on the internet.

  • Comment removed

  • @kain38 WHATS HIS NAME? WHAT RYU OF NINJUTSU? WHERE CAN I CONTACT HIM? god i fucking hate liars.

  • Comment removed

  • @scottbaioisdead no your the idiot ninjutsu came from korea and they pass it to japan and if you read from book and not wikipedia you would know that ninjato are not curved.ninjato were not curved because it is a multi tool its with the sword in the case it was used for jabbing becuase NINJATO SCABBARD HAS A CONE LIKE PIKE AT THE END AND ALSO NINJA WORE THERE SWORD ON THERE BACK YOU CANT TAKE A CURVED SWORD OUT LIKE THAT.

  • @ihateu2020 how long have you lived in japan? which japanese books mention this sword? which japanese museums have authentic examples of this sword? i own every book on ninjutsu printed since 1917 why do they not mention straight swords?

  • @scottbaioisdead i live there for about 5 years i dout you have ever book the museum Address: 117-13-1 Ueno Marunouchi Iga-city, Mie prefecture ninjas used what they had cuz the were farmers all there weapons were farming tools except the the star shaped sheriken i think

  • @ihateu2020 what street did you live on?

  • @ihateu2020 not Korea, more of the roots can be traced back to China perhaps but not Korea

  • thats a katana.... ninto are not curved

  • @ihateu2020 idiot

  • You are a fag

  • midgeto

  • I find what you have to say about ninja having never used straight blades just as pompous and crudely offensive as your user name. Obviously you made that up tehre, cool trick with the handle. I guess there is alot of money to be made is discrediting others presumed lore and saying 'NO THIS' but the overall canon effect in the end is mostly just a bunch of whiney people trying to market something that was intentionally obfuscated to begin with.

  • @datiwas prove they used them, show me some historical proof

  • @scottbaioisdead a real warrior would want a real grip on a real handle on a real weapon. probably one of the last things a warrior would want going into combat would be an inefficient weapon in exchange for some stupid geeky trick that just wont payout. I considered that this device could be used exclusively to close distance with a target while in full disguise for a quick very close quarters ganking (within blade drawing range) or maybe pump someone with some quick kidney jabs from behind.

  • @scottbaioisdead the problem with this device would be that simply there would be more efficient means to deal with someone at extreme close quarters than having a false handled blade. I find this device to be (from what little 'I think' I understand) of ninjutsu philosophy and taijutsu (though dont take at all for granted 'authenticity'-which if you are hoping for you must face it, that you are completely fucked from square 1). flexibility/usefunessFAIL economy of motionFAIL creativityPASS

  • @datiwas so how long have you lived in japan? it's amazing how diffferent your opinion is from hatsumi soke and nawa sensei and various other koryu practitioners who know of this weapon

  • @scottbaioisdead Nope, just layed over in the airport a few hours on a few trips. So overall, I've lived in Japan almost but not quite one full day if you add it all together. :D Sorry to troll you, but I am prolly what you would suspect, just a disaffected 'martial artists' with a closet hardon for could possibly be 'ninja'. I don't troll aything really, but here I am embarassing myself over something I am certainly confused about, yet frustratingly hunger to know 'the truth of' is there any?

  • how far does the tang go? is it pegged under the sageyo(or however you spell it) or somewhere on the saya?

  • Ninjas have ten toes. What's tha big woop about this one?

  • scotbaioisdead your a one big NERD TURD!!!!

  • @chosonbuddy Wow, what a tolerant and peaceful response coming from one of chosonninja's fans. Good to know what kind of example he's setting for his fans.

  • I have seen early footage of Hatsumi Sensei showing this kind of Ninjatou. I have often thought of trying to reproduce a similar weapon myself for my collection. And for cd6555, quit watching idiots like Choson Foowey there and try doing some actual research from credible sources instead of listening to his BS. The straight bladed "Ninjato" was a product of Hollywood. Not of traditional Ninjutsu!

  • Do you plan on selling all 5 type of shinobigatana on your site? And I may have asked before, but, could you send me a PM of what the other 2 type of ninjato were? I have a history project on Japanese history and I wanna do a brief lecture of the ninja and their various ningu.

  • I'd like to buy one. If you can get back to me soon that would be great! Let me know if there's anything else you have designed. Hope you are well!

  • This guy is gay ....

  • you are wrong this guy sucks a ninjato is straight sword and your sword is a small kitana a kitana is curved

  • haha. what a dumb fuck

  • @cd6555 You must be a Greg Park fan?

  • @cd6555

uh.... you do realize that the straight bladed sword was called a chokuto....

and it also didnt exist past the heian period.......

of course, if you can point us towards a straight bladed nihonto... by all means do so.... but as i, and dean here, have said... it jsut doesnt exist...

    the idea came from Hayes.....

  • @cd6555 "kitana" LOLOL fail.

  • @cd6555 Kitana is a Mortal Kombat character, katana is a wakizashi. Kind of ignorant on your part. Ninjato literally means "sword used by ninja", so if a ninja was using a katana, that katana would be a ninjato.

  • You know, I have been researching this shit all night, and from my minimalistic ninja experiences (tenchu z, ninja gaiden, ashida kim books) it's really clouded in a haze of mystery, I know that ninjato weren't straight or else you wouldn't get a good slice, and maybe I am thinking of ninjitsu, but wasn't the purpose to gather intel, or strike and flee?

  • that thing is fuckin amazing

  • @JoeMFTorres But that gut is fucking GAY!!!

  • i heard, from jiro009cuts that, he researched, (asking hyoujnsama for info as well (about the muzori- shinogi something like that, the straight blade geometry style, and one thing he mentioned was that during the bakamatsu, late edo etc. thatsome people forged and wielded straight swords ( with the intention of A being distinctive, b possibly hark back to the chokuto. as a symbol for imperialist loyalists? does that come up at all in your records?

  • do you sell iaito, or iaido equipment ?

  • yes send me a pm with exactly what you're looking for

  • Comment removed

  • you are awsome man!

  • do all ninjas argue about such pointless things?

  • ninja don't exist

  • then why is it called a ninja-to?

  • ninja used to use them, why is there a crow's nest on a ship? theres no crows in there

  • but you just said ninja don't exist!

  • yes, ninja don't exist, ninja used them. lanze exist landesknechts used them, landesknechts do not exist.

  • @scottbaioisdead do you mean they don't exist anymore or ninjas have never existed?

  • ninja don't exist anymore

  • how do you know. if they did still exist they wouldnt want u to know O.o

  • lmao ninjas were spies for the shogun (and maybe the meji government?) but when samurai were abolished so were ninjas so yes ninjas do not exist anymore there cant be a real one it impossible get it? there can be descendants form koga and iga clan but they are not ninja. ninjas were there ansesters

  • ok panky it was just a joke XD

  • my bad i did not mean to offend you i just like talking about this kind of stuff, because its on of the few things i know alot about lol :p

  • nah i didnt mean it like that im not ofended and thanks for the info :p

  • @scottbaioisdead no actually they do, ever heard of hatsumi?

  • @scottbaioisdead Hatsumi! living proof!

  • @ninjapwn98 yes soke is living proof of someone who says ninja don't exist

  • @scottbaioisdead

I agree with a lot of things you say... but Hatsumi is constantly talking about "If you want to be a ninja"

  • masaaki hatsumi is my idol

  • how many types of ninjato are there?

  • @scottbaioisdead ok im not trying to sound like a young idiot here but they do and there's proof all over the place but just start with researching Hatsumi

  • @comrade110397 yes, yes we do

  • dude that ninjato is pretty tight.

    is the katana blade wood?

youngninja is such a tool =)

  • @Shinkatana420 a katana is a long sword a katana bokken is a wood long sword

  • @ninjapwn98 O katana and Tachi are long swords.

  • basterd, i whoulden't lie about my mum, thts jus sik

  • like i said the only thing i lie about is my location dean, you tryed to get me sued, and you failed, see ya creep

  • thats what you get for lying, would you like me to email him again and tell him you're still pretending to be a ninja? i'm sure if he pressed legal action and your parents were informed they would get you the mental help you need

  • i bearly have any perants you basterd, my mums always in the hospital dying you fuker, i told you she had cancer, ur geting fuking low dean.

  • why do you lie so much?

  • one mor thing dean, can't you see i have hopes and dreams to be a shinobi, to be the best bujikan budo taijutsu student i can ever be, tell me, why must you shatter that hope

  • ninja don't exist. if you want to play ninja and sneak around join the navy

  • and my parents were informed huh, well, for one the only one who has my mum number is me, hmm,,,,, i live by myself,,,,, hmm and only my brothers and sisters know were she lives, hmmm look at tht, so dean?Tell me who informed my mother again,

  • no i said if that guy continues with his lawsuit they'll be informed, and you don't live by yourself, can you stop lying even once?

  • and im not stupid, i do believe you somtimes, like when your talking about " CHI BULLSHIT" But i also defended the other guy, because i didn't think it was right to target someone for there beleifs/Hopes/Dreams And aspirations, i know who lying, im just not a twat about

  • if im not mistaken wouldnt thst be a samurai short sword...the ones they kept on them always... and not a straight blade ninjato

  • theres no such thing as a straight ninjato

  • That is a rare find, im suprise that they still even made these, tho ninjato's are ussualy blades, the only ninja made weapon at all, aside from this and a few others. But very cool indeed

  • ok I will take that as a yes, the sword can't be flipped back around due to damage in tsuka and tsuba hole enlarged.

  • seriously! did you glue the tsuba theres nothing holding it lol

  • Hi hey where does the habaki and seppa go? Did you get rid of them completely and how did you get the tsuba to stick magic lol Did you punch the tsuba hole to make it tight? Or are you a magician!

  • i am a magician but there is a way it's stuck there, but thats a secret

  • I wanna buy one, but is it strong? it doesnt seem like the tsuba can take any impact from a stab? And can the sword really be flipped around if i change my mind later? The tsuka internally would be ruined from monouchi no?

  • lol i like how u turned down that bastard on that arguement over there. btw do u do shipping? coz im looking for a ninjato myself and i cant seem to find a good place to buy them

  • amazon . com has some pretty good ones

  • hilarious

  • I have two questions, well one question and one request. What exactly is the use of this paticular ninjato? Like, what are the benefits of using such a sword? My request is just that you tell me about the different ninjato there are. Thank you.

  • i made a video showing how to use this sword /watch?v=4ErAXhMqfJk&feature=channel_page

  • Ah, I see. Sorry for posting without looking first, but it did make things a lot faster for me. Also, could you tell me some more of the ninjato, or if you could make a video about all of the various kind their are (I have seen a video from you about the ones you sell in your shop, but I am assuming that their are more than that.) Again, thank you.

  • i explained the other types in the first ninjato video

  • lol are you retarded. To Bo and Jo means a straight weapon the ninjas used the straight sword called a ninjato but they realised that the curved Katana whas a better weapon so they stole it from the samurais.

  • learn japanese before you say more bullshit. samurai used katana 刀 ninja used ninjato 忍者刀刀 is read as to, or katana. it's the same word you dumbass. you don't speak japanese so shut up. ninja were samurai. bo means stick, it doesn't mean straight stick or anything. a pencil can be a bo. jo is also read tsue which means can or walking stick. the fact they all sound the same doesn't mean they're all straight. thats just retarded

  • Resources or GTFO.

  • NINJA-TOE

  • ninjato came in straight and curved styles it didnt really matter to ninjas as long as it got the job done

  • don't spread bullshit. present historical evidence of a straight ninjato. name your sources.

  • i didnt mean to offend but it didnt really matter they even picked up broken blades as weapons

  • so a broken curved blade is magically straight? want to explain the ratio of broken blades to perfectly functional blades after a battle? blades must magically break when the owner dies right? how about you compare the number of broken weapons found on dead soldiers vs the number of perfect condition weapons found on dead soldiers. i'm gonna say 99% of the weapons are perfect, just as they were in japan. once again don't spread bullshit.

  • and your point is? I respect what you say so calm down i really could care less if its bullshit or not but i guess you do so hey

  • my point is you're spreading lies. ninja did not use straight swords. i correct inaccuracies. don't tell me ninjato came in straight and curved styles when you don't have historical evidence to back it up

  • do you have historical evidence? And if so where did you get it or better yet from whom and how would you know they were not bullshitting you either MY point is that nobody here has true evidence because nobody here has every met a 16th century ninja unless you have have you?

  • yes actually i do have historical evidence. i own ninjutsu densho, theres museums that have the same information, theres people who have trained in historical ninjutsu. yes i have evidence, now do you? no you dont

  • which has been rewritten countless times, which museums? What people? yeah you got LOTS of evidence buddy

  • sorry thats not the way the real world works. ninja didn't use straight swords it's well known. you want to live in this fantasy world where everything is so mysterious. all historians agree ninja didn't use straight swords. all historians agree columbus's first voyage used three ships, all historians agree abe lincoln was the 16h president. could all history be rewritten after the fact and be completely wrong. yes. was it. no. so fuck off if you don't want to live in the real world. the end

  • half of that had nothing to do with what i asked looks like you cant back up anything without gettin all pissy so why dont you fuck off if you cant back up this bullshit

  • i hate it when people are too stupid to understand logic. you claim history was rewritten and we don't know because no one was there. were you there when abe lincoln was president? no. was he president. yes. we have tons of documentation about ninja and ninja weaponry. does it mention a straight sword? no. does it mention the blades i talk about? yes. now look. do you have ANY proof at all of ninja using a straight sword ANY PROOF AT ALL. if you do show it. if not shut the fuck up.

  • i never said history was rewritten dumb ass i said that book has been can you not read? And yet still you cant prove shit so comment back when you have good proof of the sword and not other random shit be the bigger man and stop being such an idiot argueing with me wont get you anywhere

  • the book was rewritten? my 16th century original book was rewritten? by whom? you must know which text i'm referring too to state something like that? want to name it then? want to produce your evidence yet? i stated the sword exists in text, the sword exists in museums, the sword exists in styles of martial arts that still exist. can you name one fucking piece of evidence for your straight blade bullshit? i know where it came from since i know the guy who started the myth, wheres your proof

  • really?! you have an original 16th century book well that changes everything you truly are amazing and tell me who is this fool who started the rumor then? and really you might just want to end this its pointless to argue be smart dont be a retard

  • it's pointless to argue because you have no proof. steve hayes started the myth of the straight ninjato.

  • and to my knowledge neither do you and yet you still try to argue why?

  • seriously are you retarded? i explained i have books, i have human sources, i have museum examples and you say i have no proof. little boy. you're an anime nerd who wants to stick to this bullshit anime nabari no ou fantasy of ninja. where did you learn japanese? what ryu of ninjutsu do you study? how long have you lived in japan? what ninjutsu densho do you own? who's your instructor?

  • im not argueing anymore you seem to be impared not to get that i dont give a shit you seem like the otaku buddy look at you

  • no you do care because you're arguing. you have no training. you don't speak japanese, you own no historical documents. you're a fucking dumbass who lives in a ninja fantasy. you watch naruto and thats all your experience with ninjutsu

  • dam scott do u mock every ninjutsu student you come across, or just the ones with aspirations, and they way u use naruto as a form of a degraded insult is soooooo original (sarcasm ) Like u tht hasent been used before to shatter the dreams of weak minded martial artist, pff..... u pretty much only use u tube to piss people off don't you

  • just the liars

  • everyones lying to you, i don't get you somtimes

  • if you actually studied ninjutsu you would know who's lying, but you like to pretend you're in the bujinkan and change your profile when people call you on your bullshit.

  • no dean, i change my location on my profile to stop u from tracking me, not because im lying, i study ninjutsu, i am a shinobi of bujinkan budo taijutsu, BUT i admit, one thing to you, Im Young anc have much to learn, but assure you im not lying, i never was, i just gave you fake locations/names/Dojos to keep me safe from nutjobs like you, your a stalker, who targets the open minded, its tht simple

  • there you go lying again, you changed your location because the owner of that school said he was going to sue you. it had nothing to do with me. if i want to i can track anyone down, it's not really a concern to me. you're not a "shinobi" they don't exist, soke hatsumi has said this. you're delusional, and people with mental problems are not allowed in the bujinkan

  • Cool. I saw some in a weapon's shop in Japan. I would've loved to pick one up but...I have a feeling it would just be collecting dust in a corner :P

  • ninja-toe... fail.... you mean nin-ja-to

  • sorry i've never heard anyone in japan say it that way, only retards on dealiest warrior

  • DUDE WE WANT MORE SWORDS LOL

  • i take it back lol(didnt see when he took the thing of)

  • its a wakisashi

  • wakizashi

  • How do you keep the tsuba on?

  • thats a shoto, i guess

  • wakizashi shoto only refers to the length of the sword in relation to a second sword of greater size

  • Hey is that two handed wakizashi you use also a Ko-Katana?

  • its very sneaky and all but why ?

I have a hatsumi book and he uses something like this except its longer but I just dont get it

  • there is a video that dean has about how to use this...

in the event that you are in close quarters and are unable to draw your sword, you can use the smaller blade.

  • thanks

  • hey what would be the best source here in the US for a legit ninjato? and i dont mean some bs straight edge on i mean like waki length blade in a katana sheath wth a longer handle

  • cheness oniyuri

  • scottbaioisdead you are doing a very GOOD job defending the NInja...keep up the good work.
