  • baby condomes :D

  • what difference in temperatures did you see after applying the new thermal compound?

  • that rubber thing looks like a condom ! nice vid tho :L

  • You never use excessive amounts of thermal paste. You should also not be spreading that paste or touching the chip with your bare finger you will leave oil residue from your skin. If anything just put a small blob and let the pressure from the heat-sink spread it...

  • just a heads up, that grounding strap isn't going to ground you unless you hook it to an actual ground with the cable. just wearing the strap does nothing. and if you're wearing one of the battery powered "wireless" models, don't bother. they will not actually ground you. you need to attach the wire to the strap and either snap it to a static mat on the floor, or plug the end into the ground of an electrical socket.

  • It's funny how my M-6862 looks just the same as that W350A you have there. Changing the thermal paste on the CPU is not enough. The real heat generating part of this laptop is the GPU. A few days ago I changed the cheap thermal pad on on the GPU with a quality one and it has lowered the temps noticeably.

  • where can you get that Thermal paste?

  • @sydnietaina Google thermal paste or eBay or Newegg. Good luck!

  • Thank you! I took it apart and cleaned the fan for the first time ever! (It's 5-6 years old...) and didn't have the paste. It'd turn on and die....Omg. I freaked.

Went and got the paste. Works perfectly. Thanks so much!

  • just a note, you can also use nail-polish remover to clean off old paste, etc.

question FastVid, what CPU socket does the Gateway support? is it the LGAs?

  • Do you have to apply that thermglue stuff at the end?

  • @FiveWorksFilms It is VERY important to apply thermal paste like you see me doing at 2:18

  • @FastVideoTech I got my laptop fixed NOW it is very very cool but it still shuts down when i am playing games but its not even HOT its cool can you help i think he guy but a new copper heatsink on it is that why please help

  • @kris10ish Did you add the Thermal cooling paste? I never knew of this stuff before, but mine wouldn't work at all without it. It'd turn on and die after it had gotten signed in and set up.

  • @Wattyz YEAH IT has thermal paste i was playing games on high settings so yeah thas why

  • @kris10ish You should only use a small drop of thermal paste on the CPU, and let the pressure from the heat sink spread it. Changing the thermal pad on the GPU and north bridge with better quality ones will help lower your temps. Also using RightMark CPU Clock Utility to lower the voltage of the CPU will also help. However, make sure you read up on how to use it, because lowering the voltage too much will lock up your system.

  • Lol! Finger condoms! xD

Nice guide... but out laptops are way different.. =(

  • Dude! So much easier than fucking HP dv5!!! Awesome video by the way

  • That's the kinda design laptops need, just remove a plate to clean the cooling system.

  • @Zodiark1593 Yeah, the guy in charge of that company is now the Governor of Michigan.
