  • i need view a new vyour video but with FPS in your screen with fraps for view you real FPS... and your proof but in video too.. show your vconfigs of maxed of into SL in real time in video into settings configuration =) and proof your magic. =O

  • PS.: with recorder fraps, i down my fps very much too, for my its a fake video not maxed out or yor proof please? for my its impossible, i have a good pc "semi"top" and me not beat 40fps in maxed out SECOND LIFE, what your magic to have 40fps in most busy lands 'o..o' ?

  • sorry but.. iam have a example, in GRENDEL CHILDREN or AVARIA into SECOND LIFE, i have maxed out blabla 512m full view... i have 15 or 22 fps.... with my new pc specs.... excepts into light lands goos lands i have 35 or 38 fps.. but 40 fps inmmpossible in busy lands... for my opinion and experience into SECOND LIFE

  • one correction... not 5 fps iam have 7 fps in very busy lands with lot of prims and etc... impossible more than 7 fps with my pc and your cconfigs too.. its impossible... in SecondLife in most busy lands

  • impossible 40 fps in SL maximun settings.. iam have QUAD CORE 3.0Ghz... 4GB ram... and GTX275 core edition , and have in 1440*900 resolution maxed out AA AF too and ultra setings too i have in most busy lands 5fps and skyboxs 50 or 80fps, i need yor proof with settings into your video and config in real time its for me watch a proof of your settings maxed in SECOND life, for me its a fake .. not maxed out...

  • im not sure how to check graphics memory. but i know i only have

    254mbRAM

    CPU 2.40GHz

  • I have a 2005 HP inspiron Laptop. and i want to play SL on it. i can play on graphics all the way down but its horrible. like 2 frames a second. i believe i only have 2GB ram. if i got 4GB ram would i be able to run this on low with good frames?

  • RAM really has nothing to do with it (well, it does a little). It mainly depends on your graphics card and processor speed.

  • ok. and it turns out i only have 256MB of ram x.x

  • Hmm i plan on getting a new computer but i like have 0percent smarts with computers. What do you recommend to get good graphics like these on second life?

  • how do i change the graphics settings in secondlife

  • So this game is cpu intensive, as in, it will use all the cores in a quad core or i7? I was going to buy a notebook with these specs:

    Sager np9280 (d900f)

    -gtx 280m

-core i7 920 (can OC to 3.6-3.8, probably will not stay past 3.6)

    -3gb ddr3

-vista premium/ windows 7 premium 64bit if that at all matters..

Can I get frames up in the 30-50fps range? Keep in mind, this is a notebook with a desktop processor and a MOBILE gtx280.

  • SL works fine on Windows 7. It currently takes advantage of multiple CPU's via a manually-turned on debug setting.

  • So can I get nice frames then in that given range?

  • FPS in Second Life is entirely dependent on the settings you use and the environment you place yourself in within the world. Since everything is user generated content you can find well-made areas as well as those that are needlessly laggy. A low 30 to low 40's is normal for high end machines in lightly crowded areas but 20's shouldn't be unexpected in things like Welcome Areas, and absolutely no one is free from low fps should you choose to cap out SL's settings in a complex area.

  • That makes sense! Doesn't it also depend on the population in a given area, and the prims they wear?

  • Yes, avatars are one most complex things to render, often more costly than the simulation itself, however they are given top rendering priority since there is meant to be alot of them in view. A crowd of 25 people in-view can be just as crippling as a complex region.

  • Haha, I've noticed! ^^

    Thanks for all your help.

  • No meu computador está igual o gráfico.

    I have:

    Nvidia GeForce 9600GT

    Core2 Duo - 2.80Ghz

    4GB de RAM

    Asus P5

  • Ahaha I know where this place is, I've been there, too. It really looks great there.

Does anybody know when there will finally be some dynamic shadows in Second Life?

  • They are added as a beta feature to the newest viewer, version 1.23.3 it's still somewhat buggy.

  • blah blah blah

  • i love it that fox avi!!

you can tell me where i can find one??

  • It is custom, but mostly used from Curious Inc. and Aventity Avatars.

  • i have one aventity fox, but i want that face, you can send me a landmark where i can buy one fox of curious inc?

  • It's great but it still doesn't have shadows

  • There's a shadow draft that's already been released; it's currently being tweaked and performance tested now.

For proof, check out some videos by user "infinitieecho".

  • Damn awesome wish my pc can running with such graphic.

  • me 2

  • with a $500 budget and some wise spending, you can get your PC running really fast in games.

  • Yes. A machine like this is overkill for most normal games. Especially first person shooters. SL is more long the lines of most standard 3D modeling applications, like 3DS Max or Maya - Best to have a fast processor than a good graphics card.

  • If you game you'd be better off with a decent graphics card as opposed to a better CPU.

If your not really a gamer, you'd notice more of a performance increase from a better CPU.

    Depends on your demands really.

  • if your a real hard core gamer you need both

  • How would I do that? My pc is a Emachines, with a 1.6GhZ processor, 2GB RAM, Nvida GeForce 6140 Graphics card, Which sucks! 150GB Harddrive, and I bought it for $299.99. I was thinking, about upgrading my graphics card. Not sure how much a decent gaming one would be.,

  • nice pc =O

  • Beautiful!!!

  • You'd be surprised. I can cap 300 fps on just about any game out there, but SecondLife is CPU intensive... the environment is literally in a state where anything can happen at any time. That's as taxing as you can get.

  • theres know way this game needs all that power

  • LuLz lies!...this game is a bit intensive..just cause of the fact its so open..im running bout the same system as the orig poster but with a single 4870 and i get high 20 mid 30s in the same enviroments..

  • If you're still looking for an alternate screen recorder Adeon I'm using TechSmith Camtasia for my screen recordings, it will let you record at any frame rate upto 1000fps.

  • hi Adeon i use Fraps to record that looks lovely
