Okay, my best memory of Dimebag, is how he literally hated rhythm guitarists (like me). I have found this to be an in your face hate that makes me try my hardest to learn lead guitar. Even after 22 years of playing guitar (heavy metal exclusively), I still can't play lead (well, I am learning, but abnormally slowly), but I will keep trying (guess some people have it and others don't). He is my first and foremost inspiration and the world of metal has lost a great guitarist. Again, RIP Dimebag!

I was 11 when I first discovered Pantera. It was April of 2004 and I was blown away by Dime's guitar playing. As a guitarist myself it was inspiring hearing Dime play. The first song I heard was Cowboys From Hell. He is one of only a few guitarsts that have truley blown my mind and he's one of my favorite players. RIP Dime

7 years ago, man it sure does sound weird that it was that long ago. I just remember being back in college dorming, and I met this hardcore pantera fan. She was the one who introduced me to Pantera. I was pissed when finding out someone actually killed Dimebag, as if it was his fault that Pantera split up.

I may not know the reason why Pantera split up, but whatever the case, it shouldn't have to cost any of the former members' lives, especially Dimebag.

I'm only 18, but ive had the privalage to see both Pantera and Damageplan. Both times i saw dimebag play "Walk". And to this day when i lift i crank up both bands and jus pump it out. Favorite work is definately "Fucking Hostile" and "Cemetary Gates". In fact when we burried my uncle, we played "Cemetary Gates", as Pantera was his favorite band.

I was too young to enjoy metal when Dime was taken from us. I was only in 5th grade. When I started listening to music though, I gradually found my way into metal through Metallica and Pantera. I was never a huge Pantera fan, being I'm not into thrash metal. But I know that on the low e string, he could bend the first fret a whole step. That not only takes enormous strength, but great skill as a guitar player. RIP to Dime and John.

Honestly, there is not a thing ive Seen or Heard from Dimebag that i did not like. Still need to check out Damageplan more though. But one of the best things is a clip of Dime jamming out some sweet bluesy tunes with a old man with an Acoustic guitar somewhere on the street. Fucking Beautiful ^^

After watching Pantera and hearing Dime's fucking awesome solo's I went out and got their albums and was headbangin' like a muthafucka. I think some of my favorite playing from Dimebag comes from Strength Beyond Strength. The way the song progresses from full throttle insanity to slow grinding heavy guitars is awesome! And his solo just sounds amazing! And of course let's not forget the amazing Cemetary Gates!
