Okay, my best memory of Dimebag, is how he literally hated rhythm guitarists (like me). I have found this to be an in your face hate that makes me try my hardest to learn lead guitar. Even after 22 years of playing guitar (heavy metal exclusively), I still can't play lead (well, I am learning, but abnormally slowly), but I will keep trying (guess some people have it and others don't). He is my first and foremost inspiration and the world of metal has lost a great guitarist. Again, RIP Dimebag!
uh both your Metallica songs don't work and all the new stuff as been taken off by youtube theres nothing on here don't try to look its just a wast of time trust me i tryed.
If you're paying money to be in a band's fan club, that band is made up of dicks. But we all already knew that Metallica is a bunch of dicks, so no surprise. Seriously, is not buying the albums and going to shows enough? And what do they want? The lowest price is $45 to $65 -- nice way to treat the kids, dicks. Plus, they're dicks that haven't put out a solid album in more than 20 years. Worthless dicks.
Words cannot describe how much I miss Dimebag. I was only 14 when he died but that day is still one of the saddest days of my life. Whenever he start calling about guitar playing to someone Dimebag's name is always brought up. I got work at 3am on friday and I've slammed 5 Black Tooth Grins tonight plus other beverages of the alcohol sort. Who cares! Live for today! R.I.P. Dimebag and John Lennon. They will never be forgotten
I absolutely LOVE Far Beyond Driven, 25 Years, I'm Broken, Slaughtered... there's so many good songs...I never had the chance to see either band live, although I would have loved to have seen Pantera. RIP John and Dime, you will be missed forever
I was 11 when I first discovered Pantera. It was April of 2004 and I was blown away by Dime's guitar playing. As a guitarist myself it was inspiring hearing Dime play. The first song I heard was Cowboys From Hell. He is one of only a few guitarsts that have truley blown my mind and he's one of my favorite players. RIP Dime
7 years ago, man it sure does sound weird that it was that long ago. I just remember being back in college dorming, and I met this hardcore pantera fan. She was the one who introduced me to Pantera. I was pissed when finding out someone actually killed Dimebag, as if it was his fault that Pantera split up.
I may not know the reason why Pantera split up, but whatever the case, it shouldn't have to cost any of the former members' lives, especially Dimebag.
I'm only 18, but ive had the privalage to see both Pantera and Damageplan. Both times i saw dimebag play "Walk". And to this day when i lift i crank up both bands and jus pump it out. Favorite work is definately "Fucking Hostile" and "Cemetary Gates". In fact when we burried my uncle, we played "Cemetary Gates", as Pantera was his favorite band.
first song i heard with dimbag darrell as guitar player was ashes to ashes with damageplan from the punisher soundtrack in 2004 and for my cousin birthday i bought my cousin pantera's cowboys from hell
Not worth the time?!! have you ever been a member of metclub? They give you a member t-shirt, 4 magasines of So What! and presale tickets to their show, with meet and greet drawings. I won backstage tickets and have met them. I also recently bought a ticket to their show in a Danish prison, and if I wasnt a member, I would most likely not have my ticket to their show, because it sold out in 30 min. Besides that, fucking awesome episode! didn't know about KSE :)
I love all pantera recordings. They've inpacted my life in soo many good ways, but sadly I wasn't able to ever see them live. I am too young (15). From what ive seen Dime looks like a hell of a guy. R.I.P. dude
Also, it is kSe is headlining the New England Hardcore Festival. Listen to the 30 second clip they have, and then listen to "When Darkness Falls" on the kSe live album (Set This) World Ablaze. Bingo! There's your answer!
Dimebag inspired me to play Guitar, his Groove Metal riffs were the shit! Attack the Radical, Mouth For War, Cemetery Gates......"What is my name?, It'll never change, REVO-LUTION IS MY NAME!"
I was too young to enjoy metal when Dime was taken from us. I was only in 5th grade. When I started listening to music though, I gradually found my way into metal through Metallica and Pantera. Dime Is now one of my hero's. My guitar playing is better because of him. My favorite songs are Cemetery Gates, Floods, 5 Minutes Alone, This Love and Planet Cavern.
My favorite memory of Dime was when Zakk and Dime where playing together at Ozzfest when Dime was touring with Pantera. Really cool video if you haven't seen it. I also love the solo on Cemetery Gates. Gets me everytime.
I was never a huge Pantera fan, being I'm not into thrash metal. But I know that on the low e string, he could bend the first fret a whole step. That not only takes enormous strength, but great skill as a guitar player. RIP to Dime and John.
Honestly, there is not a thing ive Seen or Heard from Dimebag that i did not like. Still need to check out Damageplan more though. But one of the best things is a clip of Dime jamming out some sweet bluesy tunes with a old man with an Acoustic guitar somewhere on the street. Fucking Beautiful ^^
Killswitch Engage headlining that festival would make sense since they're from Massachusetts and they did a DVD at the Worcester Palladium which is where the New England Metal and Hardcore festival is.
dime was great and everything about him was just mind blowing awesome, im inspired by his guitar playing and his skills and he is one of the reasons why i love playing guitar :) R.I.P DimeBag
The solos on Cemetery Gates and The Sleep are two of my favorites from Dimebag! :D Also I don't feel like it's a waste of money to be a fanclub member. You get tons of advantages :p
@MetallAndy well if there are perks like presale tickets and exclusive vinyl then yeah I'm all for a club like that. I'm in the Third Man Records vault
I remember watching a video lesson of Dime and he showed how to do some of those crazy guitar sounds...he always seemed really happy. He was really talented though, a true guitar legend !!
I saw Pantera waaay back in 98' at ozzfest. I was only 16 and was new to the world of metal hard rock etc. at the time. After watching Pantera and hearing Dime's fucking awesome solo's I went out and got their albums and was headbangin' like a muthafucka. Feel priveledged to have gotten the chance to witness such an amazing band. R I P Dimebag.
I loved how none of dime's playing was calculated and how he played it like it was off the cuff. I also remember seeing footage of him switching pick ups mid leap and that was just amazing to me
I think some of my favorite playing from Dimebag comes from Strength Beyond Strength. The way the song progresses from full throttle insanity to slow grinding heavy guitars is awesome! And his solo just sounds amazing! And of course let's not forget the amazing Cemetary Gates!
