i think this video was great but really it only works on ignorant people, unlike ourselves, so its obvious that everyone who is in the know, like we are, take a course on how to pray on people's complete ignorance to help us deceive for the purpose of self-gain? does that sound good? I think it does too. -<--- now you wouldn't use this to sell me an NLP course would you?
@tehf00n I'm not sure I completely agree. The issue it not about preying on people but about subtly shifitng the direction a little mroe favourably. That would give you the opportunity to play with many more patterns. Whilst is would be easy to "prey on people's ignorance" you only have that opportunity once so I would rather treat them well and with respect. When you do that you get freinds and customers for life as well as the chance to use your patterns even when they know what you are doing.
@thenlpcompany I understand what you are saying there and I am not the type of person to deceive someone or play on their ignorance however its a rough world and we all need some protection from the abusers and usurpers of society. I am sure that the only reason we face an economic crisis is because someones NLP (natural or forced) was better than another persons. As they saying goes "if you can't beat them, join them". I am sure you can agree with that :)
@tehf00n I completely agree. When you have the information it is easy to see how people are using and then you have the choice of going with them or not. And you are right. These things are tools and like any tool they can be used for good or for harm so I think you are better off knowing about these things. I also want to emphasis that you get what you focus on so now you have protection in place you can just focus on doing good, having fun and generally enjoy making good use of this material.
@thenlpcompany Nice. I liked the emphasise part. I also appreciate the use of "hand"-iwork in the video. Sometimes I feel I concentrate more on reading the person's idiosyncratic or pre-meditated suggestive movements and phrases than I do on the actual content of what they are saying. However I am listening in order to reply. In that respect am I more succeptible to NLP or less because I take in less aural and visual information pertaining to the user's intended output?
@tehf00n One thing I do is use a lot more patterns, processes and techniques in my material. I then tell people to go through it several times to catch all of the patterns etc. For them it means they get lots of demonstrations of the use of these things. For me it means they go throught eh content several times, in several differnt ways and playing close attention. A result for everyone. More succeptible suggests an adversarial approach, more aware and more free to choose suits me better.
The focus on practice is cool but at the end of the day, all practice should focus on real world application because the unconscious mind can't tell the difference between imagined or actual experience - it's all subjective. Therefore, all practice should be based on real life situations. If in a real life situations you would always start with an outcome for your agreement frame, then you should start with an outcome in practice, shouldn't you?
@MrFred186 Great point and I almost agree with you. The issue is not about having an outcome but what that outcome is. When you are practicing getting the structure right the outcome should be about getting the structure right and everything else is a "nice to have" rather than a result in it's own right.
When you are doing that well you might move on to having outcomes about getting the other person to do what you want them to do...but that is no longer practice.
@thenlpcompany Nice use of the agreement frame. I think you've mastered it. And I know the issue is not about whether you've mastered it or not. But I believe you have.
by far the most useful pattern to me is the agreement pattern. If you disagree you totally shut off. However if you agree and then add your 2 cents you are putting yourself in a position to be heard. Great work!!gary t

@MrFred186
You are correct in your assumption, but in the scheme of things opinion is a small factor, right?

Thanks for saying Gary,
and I completely agree with you an agreement frame seriously helps you getting your message across.
