  • the aluminum hood should be fine; it's like when I use a copper pipe as a tuyere in my bloomery; copper and aluminum are good conductors and will conduct the heat away and into the cold pipe quite easily. The radiant heat won't really be quite enough to reach the melting point of the aluminum anyways

  • if you add another section of stove pipe on top of the pipe you have above the roof, and recap it, it will draw better, think 3 ft above the peak of the roof.

  • Thats a nice looking shop! it MIGHT melt when you are turning the crank the whole time, i think it can hold it, aluminum changes color when it gets too hot, at least thats what i have experienced,
