Hi I love the vid ur soo cute . I am 10 and I pull out my eyelashes I have been doing this for 3 years now and it's not fun to this very day I have no eyelashes I loved ur vid and let the lord be with u and hopefully I think I may stop mow that I have seen ur video thank you very much
omg little one u r so brave and beautiful. My little girl started pulling a little over ayear ago she only pulls her eyelashes as of now i can only hope and pray it remains this way and does not progress, The guilt i have is quite overwhelming for me becuz when she first started pulling i would fuss at her all the time not realizing or ever hearing that this was an actual diease. I've adjusted though , my biggest fear is her being teased at school especially being she is a very kind chld
I remember the first time I started pulling my hair out either I was 9 or 10 years old. I used to pull out only my eyelashes. Then in 7th grade I pulled the side scalp of my hair and eyebrows. Then eventually the urges would go away and then they would come back. I hope all works out for you sweetheart. Trich is horrible and eventually younwill probably stop. Good luck <3
Thank you for your video, and I hope you realize that you've done a very good thing here by posting your wise thoughts and helpful tips so that other people can see they are not alone with this and what can help them. It's easy to see that you are a wonderful child who cares about other people. Hope things go well for you, sending lots of good wishes, take care!
My nine year old daughter also has trichotillomania. She began when she was about 3 or 4. First it was the eyelashes of her dolls, then the cats whiskers. Then she used stickers to pull out her eyebrows. From that point on she continued to pull out eyelashes, and eyebrows. At the present time she has patchy eyebrows and no eye lashes.
When her eyelashes are to short to pull, she has found the tweezers and used them. She is seeing a psychologist, but we are still struggling.
I am 14. i have had no eyelashes for almost a year now. This disease really sucks. I cant stop! I have been trying for a long time. what helped me was to keep my nails cut short. This has helped me. Mine are finally growing back
@lookatmysexyface i try really hard to be as supportive as possible without piutting any undue stress on audrey. Sometimes this means i hold my tongue when I really want to say something. Every is a battle for her and every day she doesn't pick, a small victory. But it is a hard road, for the both of us. She is a sttromg amd brave little girl, and I am proud of her.
This girl is amazing. I started suffering from Trich around the same age as her. If only my parents had taken me to a doctor about it back then. My mom, up until this year, six years later, used to scream at me for hours every time I did it. Of course, the stress of that made it way worse, and I've had on and off depression ever since I got into middle school. Please give your child the love and support she needs. If my parents had helped me earlier on, I would have been much better by now.
Hi. My 11yr old daughter started pulling eyelashes at 5 yrs old for the exact same reason, to make wishes. It has progressed from eyelashes to eyebrows and now hair on her head. It is nice to be able to show her this, so she won't feel alone. Thanks
Let your daughter know this isn't something that develops. But I started when I was nine, I pull from the crown of my head. I am just shy of 21 now. I started carrying a tangle toy with me. Maybe she would benefit from it? I wish I knew a girl as brave and as honest as your daughter when I started to pull. She is inspirational!
This touched me so much. First person i related to about this. I am 18 years old, and this is the first time I ever heard of trich starting the same way for someone as it did for me! I was 10, and I did the same thing- pulled out an eyelash for a wish. This girl..you are amazing. You have touched and inspired me. Youre going to be okay <3
I started pulling my own hair and eyelashes when i was around 7 or 8. Going into middle school i stopped completely but as i grew up, i thought i was alone. Then going into my junior year in high school i started doing it again and i didnt even learn about trich until i was 18. Im surprised she knows what she has, hopefully she'll be able to deal with it better than i did because she has some knowledge of it. Im 19 years old and i still cant even gather the courage to tell my best friend.
I have this exact disease. I was 10 years old when I started. I am now 17 years old. She's such a beautiful and brave little girl. I wish I was this brave when I was younger
Wow. She's so adorable. She reminds a lot me of me. When I was around 5 or 6 years old I pulled out my eyelashes because I thought I could make wishes. When my mom told me it didn't couldn't, I couldn't stop pulling them out. It got really bad when I was around 9 years old and I pulled out almost all my eyelashes and eyebrows. It gradually got better, but about a year ago I started pulling out hair from my head. It's getting better, though.
wow that is the cutest kid I have ever seen haha, it will be alright kid! this will not be apart of your life for too much longer trust me you will beat it for good!
you are so cute and so clever, try not to think about it, you'll see you'll do just great and this will remain as a bad phase you had once when you were 9. I used to do that too when i was in high school and when i saw that i was losing so much hair i got so scared and stopped... not immediately, it took me a couple months. but now I'm 21 and I NEVER do it! So i guess there's a cure, you just have to find a new healthy addiction. :- ) just don't give up, ok? I wish I could give u a big hug!!
hey dont give up hope sweet heart im 14 and i have the same problem i pull my eyelashes out to almost all of them... im still trying to find help or somehow keep myself from doin that but i have found none so far...my parents dont understand but i still have hope. yes ik its embarrising n when you do it you dont want to n then you feel bad about it later, but somehow ik you n me will eventually find a way to stop.
dude this girl is amazing. i've struggled with trich since i was 8or 9. i'm 21 now. i'm currently bald b/c of trying to get it to stop and itstill dont help.
I wish I'd had her confidence when I was that age. Im 23 this year and have suffered from TMM sinse I was 3. I've only just found out that I am not alone and that it has a name. She is so brave and I hope that fighting it so young helps her heal.
im 11 and i have this to and theres hope for us all i go to boys and girls club and theres a staff the had it and now shes a part time hair modle for pantieen so theres hope i will keep trying to stop and ihope u will to!!
I have had Trichotillomania for 20 years. I am 25 almost now, I have it in my eyes and eyebrows. They are completely bald, I wish I could find a cure, but the sourced of it is stress and addiction. I wish l could go into a comma for like a year and treat my body with good meds but I have no health insurance so I know it won't happen. Huh maybe if I cut off my thumbs. now there's a cure. But doctors are so damb greedy. Fight it young one you don't want this 10 years later it's HELL, I will pray.
@court5506 thank you. It has now migtated to her head, but we are learning new techniques and i have her teachers involved to help her. It is a continuous struggle, and we have to do some creative things with her hair to hide the bald spots. I suggeedt you join TLC, for me it has been a great help,
thanks for sharing your story. My daughter has trich and is 9 also. I'm so sorry you have to struggle with this but hopefully we can support each other to help those we love stop. All the best!!
What a brave young lady. And your Mom is a hero for understanding and being gentle with you. I have this too and want to help anyone I can to know that you can and will get better. I did. Bravo to you both!

I think you little vid can help other children as well as your daughter! when I got trich, when I was around 11-12 years old I wish someone had been understanding towards me instead of treating me bad and saying "your eye-lashes will never grow out again"...
