  • wehhhhh I can't eat durian either... but my Thai friend enjoys it very much ^__^

When I was in Hochiminh city, my favorite snacks are Banh' tran' (super delicious) , che` (all kinds), bun' (kinda like Pho but much more tasty), banh' mi` sai` gon` (very cheap but outstanding), chao' trung' dit. muo^i (not sure if I spell correctly its name) and Japan food at some small restaurants.

Hochiminh city absolutely has the most wonderful delicacies, more and much better than any other cities in VN.

  • Quantumdude,

Don't talk trash, if you don't want to hear trash! Mental illness.

  • All places you went here are just crap man....

Address: number 232 – 1-4 street Cat Ba island - Viet Nam

  • PHO!!!

  • Durian's sucks dude!!!

  • fish with red wine ?

  • Comment removed

  • @leojdroffaws3 one of our traditional foods, especially in the west of vietnam, and it wasn't red wine, definitely. :)

  • Why every single video about Vietnam, there are still someone comment about Vietnam War. I mean that war is long gone. No one in Vietnam even discuss it today, it just brings up painfulness, hatefulness. I'm Vietnamese btw, I just enjoy my happy life in Vietnam, who care about communist v.s capitalism.. get a life!

  • @GDQT Who cares? The veterans that can't get any sleep at night, because they still hear the screams and see the blood when they close their eyes. The parents that lost their children. The children that lost their parents. The POW's, some of whom may still be over there, who are lucky to be alive today after the torture they were subjected to. The Vietnamese children, who were used as human shields for the VC. Probably, the Vietnamese Christians, being beaten and murdered for their faith.

  • When I was Vietnam, I fell in love with "cafe sua da". I drunk it more than twice a day. But watch out... from sweat to pee, everything secretion from my body had strong smell of robsuta coffee.

  • Well put together Short Video

  • VIETNAM IS DA BEST FUCK THE REST

  • @alicekawaz Aren't you glad YouTube is an American company, so you can actually post something so stupid?

  • @dameon692002 You better say Microsoft in that context since video sharing sites exist everywhere. It's just that american companies have more money and thus more chance to make whatever bigger internationally. Anyway, who cares? Just have your say "America, who is acting like the king and good at stealing wealth from all around the world, is the best" and sing Jose, Can you see.. blah blah. Peace.

  • @alicekawaz Peaceful post, wasn't that? All that prejudice against America for valuing freedom and opportunity. So, over 305 million people are all responsible for stealing the "wealth" of the world? Not the governments that forbid opportunities and kill people for having a difference of opinion? Because, that's basically what you just said, with all that bigotry. Why not ask the Darfuri people if they'd welcome American intrusion? And, I really do wish you peace.

  • Yeah and how well is 'democratic' USA for you... USA and its capitalist system where you dont even have free universal health care!!

Ho Chi Minh beat the japs the French and the yanks... Thats 3 difeerent agressors in the space of 12 years... And he won...You telling me he is not a savior of Vietnam for doing that?

You are brainwashed you and your silly mainstream american media.

Im not a supporter of communism.. You just dont understand its policies

  • i was in vietnam thi summer and was very hard to find milk, the food was good!

  • I LOVE Vietnam I originated there!

  • I was born in Vietnam , but moved to the U.S. when I was 6. I could hardly remember anything about it. I've made my first returned in 12 years a few weeks ago, and I was blown away by the cultures, the people, and the foods. My goal is to return to my homeland once more before i join the Marines. This video makes me feel proud that I'm a Vietnamese. Thank You.

  • @Guerrilla109 Best of luck to you sir.

  • i like PHO too, but i like PHO more..get my point?...i think vietnamese ppl get it. hahaha

  • Best video, brings back so many memories! I tried durian ice cream as well - hated it. I even tried it in coconut candy :s I absolutely became addicted to the iced coffees over there! My best friend is in Vietnam atm and I told him to try out the iced coffees, so hopefully he is drinking one as I speak ;) I so wanna go back to vietnam!

  • You make me remember how it is in Vietnam :D, nice, friendly, clean (even though it has lots of trash there), and how fun it is :).

  • i love how the whole video was basically about food. now i'm hungry.

  • u make me miss VN! Thanks 4 this vid

  • What makes this a good vid? It's believable and the narrator lets you experience what he says about the food : )

  • Durian when raw isn't "stinky" it's all based on personal opinions. A lot of people love it, like myself but other people think it smells. If you love it, you think the smell is actually really nice.

  • ca ko to

  • @yeastori not ca ko to, it's ca kho to :)

  • please call my city SAIGON go to WIKIPEDIA HOCHIMINH,the bastard real name is nguyen luu manh responsible for commie uprising and collapse of economy,VN is changing back just like china, russia, what a waste of human blood and money

  • @thangco11 Ho Chi Minh fought for Vietnam's independence. That's why it's so peaceful today.

  • Durian is one of the weirdest fruits I've ever had, smells like shit but tastes so good.

  • where are most of these motorbikes made?

  • you're cute...

  • 5 stars- is the best pho.

  • fvck me, i'm a vegetarian

  • if u want good vietnamese food come to cabramatta

  • @MrYeye111 the restaurants in Cabramatta is not really authentic Vietnamese . Most of them are Chinese-Vietnamese, so the flavour has been changed. I can rate them average 5/10. I lived in Australia some time ago, I know the Vietnamese food in Australia taste like...

  • Host is a douche

  • Pho's more suitable for diet peple, compares to Korean, Chinese and Japanese noodle

  • Pho is so much better than Top ramen! You get hungry an hour later though...

  • Thanks for the great video. Sharing your perspective of the local food and restaurants. That's what I like about the Lonely Planet...travellers share their experiences with other travellers. BTW, durian is an aquired taste. I happen to like it when it is not too ripe. :)

  • i loveeeeee durian hate the smell tho o.e

  • I have been to Vietnam and i did not like the food so much . Thaifood is much better in my opinion

  • I'm Vietnamese and I can't eat durians either :))

  • lol fanny

  • Awesome foods!!!

The best in south east Asia? Are you sure?

Try Indonesian food and let me have your feedback! ;')

  • It's SAIGON! I will never set foot on Vietnamese soil, because the VietCong and NVA rushed in like roaches after the light is turned off, once the American troops were withdrawn... Maybe people should go visit the "Hanoi Hilton" (NOT the literal Hanoi Hilton, BTW, but the POW camp), or try reading a Bible in public there... ever wondered how Vietnamese Christians are treated in Vietnam? Here's a hint: they get BEATEN, RAPED and KILLED.

  • @dameon692002

Are you vietnamese? "try reading a Bible in public there... ever wondered how Vietnamese Christians are treated in Vietnam? Here's a hint: they get BEATEN, RAPED and KILLED." where did you get these from? made it up? Please open your heart to listen and look, not just hear from one side.

  • @tuana1206 You're already poisoned against the facts. Do a little research. Maybe, talk to the people who've been to their wonderful prisons (sarcasm). See how many of them have all their fingers, or have full use of all their limbs... or were given proper medical care when they got infections... or were beaten bloody, black, and blue. Try talking to some of the veterans from the DAV... try visiting some of the mass graves of Vietnamese civilians and American soldiers... Get a clue...

  • @dameon692002 sorry Vietnam is great, I doubt You have ever been then..Unlike you I actually was in Vietnam before

  • @ocallaghan1916 It's kind-of sad that you support a communist regime that tortures and slaughters their own people for ideological differences. Unlike you, my dad was there, when they were struggling for freedom against the Vietcong and the NVA; and, were it not for the gullible communist sympathizers that harrassed our gutless politicians back then, South Vietnam would be free, and the people wouldn't live in constant oppression or terror. Get out of their propaganda museum, would you?

  • @dameon692002 You are a fool, Where do I say I support communism?

Vietnam is free today thankfully...You Americans wanted Vietnam to be another Korea, divided and the worst neighbours possibly always threatning to blow up eachother, but the good thing is the NVA and the Vietcong beat ye guys and the majority of your people back home realised that. Today people in jail are not just 'tortured' and 'slaughtered', you need to stop thinking its still the 1960's

Ho Chi Minh is the savior of Vietnam

  • @ocallaghan1916 So... you support the NVA and Vietcong - which, if you pulled your head out of your rectum, you'd know were about to surrender and let South Vietnam remain free - you support communist mobs who are as empty-headed and brainless as you - and just as reliant on Big Brother's lies, - and you call the communist Ho Chi Minh the "savior" of Vietnam... regardless of the war-crimes his regime committed. Yet, you call me an idiot, and pretend to not support communism.

  • @ocallaghan1916 You really need to take the bong out of your mouth, get clean, and look at the world as if you had even one working brain-cell. South Korea is free from Kim Jong Il's monstrous communist regime, where his people starve to death... and, as in every communist regime - if you could read, instead of dictating your insane ramblings to somebody who passed Kindergarten, you'd know that, - they torture and kill people they convict of thoughtcrime. Keep living in your fantasy-world...

  • @dameon692002 So support Communism is bad and Capitalism is good. If I supported the US's government right now which is threatening the Internet community with their censorship bullshit, I'm the "good" guy? Communism is just a regime, use the country's regime to describe its status is just plain stupid, Just like the kings and queens system in the past. But unlike Soviet, we've adapted, that's why we're still here. Why don't you open your mind a little to see the differences?

  • @MrDosonhai 1: I never said that the government's policies were capitalist. I never even discussed the government, here. I happen to be against what they're doing, which is coming closer every day to what communist countries do to their people. So, it seems that you don't understand the difference between capitalism and the governments that employ it as their economic system.

2: There is an old saying: Be open minded, but not so much that your brains fall out.

  • @dameon692002 Seriously, do you hate Vietnamese just because of its government? And ask yourself, why not many Vietnamese these days hate Americans despite the fact that they killed our people, because we know they didn't do it intentionally, it's their government, when I said open minded, I meant you should have general view of things. Every damn time you yanks talk about VN, you mention Communism, is that everything you have in your mind about a country? Shame.

  • @MrDosonhai Okay, skip right over the points and the issues, and focus on the stereotypes. Listen carefully: their GOVERNMENT... COMMUNISM... THAT is the problem; not the people. What, do you think that every American is a racist? Do you realize that the very government of Vietnam kill their own people by the thousands? The propaganda museum in Vietnam would suggest otherwise. And yes: we "yanks" tend to address the issues at hand.

  • @dameon692002 That my friend, was the past and it seems you yanks love to focus on the past, don't you? If we were exactly the same, killing capitalists then we would be like Cuba or North Korea or even Pol Pot Empire. And you think being a capitalist is the same as freedom then look at your country right now. if that's freedom then I'd rather live here. Thank you very much!

  • @MrDosonhai And, you seem to be obsessed with covering up the past. What are you afraid of? And, guess what: if the Vietnamese prisoners were free to speak their minds, they'd tell you that Vietnam is every bit as bad as Cuba, North Korea, Laos, or Cambodia. But, back to the point: why are you defending a government that used children as human shields and continues to torture their own countrymen?

  • @dameon692002 I'm not covering anything, my point is why everytime you talk about VN, you talk about Communism. You're judging a book by its cover. This case is my country, the gov is just the first chapter but why don't you read more, its culture, its food (which is mentioned in this video) and its improvement ever since the war. Cuba and North Korea, you say this country is just as bad then you must be blind. Please look carefully again, best way is to visit here. Thank you! ^.^

  • @MrDosonhai Pay attention to what I said. I never said anything about the people, the culture, or the food. I was talking about the communist government. I'll be happy to meet Vietnamese people... anywhere in the world... eat Vietnamese food... experience Vietnamese culture... just not in Vietnam, where their government kills people for their ideologies and used children for human shields. As for experiencing the country... my dad did, when he was drafted.

  • @MrDosonhai And, like George Santayana said, "Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

  • @dameon692002 And what did you learn through Vietnam war exactly? Failure to judge what is right and wrong? We've never pose any threat, you're the threat here, not us. You came here, kill our people here, if you say communism is bad than so are you. Don't pretend to be a good guy here, yank. Oh yes, I've learn a lot from my history that war doesn't solve anything yet you're that one who waged it. See how it backfires you?

  • @MrDosonhai And, that's what you get for believing the propaganda of your government. Even if what you said was true, did you ever stop to think that the soldiers that went to Vietnam to fight in the war were trying to do the right thing by the South Vietnamese people, by helping them fight the NVA menace? You accuse American soldiers of murder, but you seem blind to the massive number of your own citizens your government has killed. Don't pretend the VC's actions are justifiable.

  • @dameon692002 Perhaps you misunderstand but your dad was in the VN war 30 years ago, in a war, this is now, peaceful time. What the VC did was the last generation's mistakes, not our generation. We are changing everyday, I don't like my government as much as you do and I want to change that. It's just tiring to go to every video read VC this and VC that, WE ARE TRYING. Please, if we were as bad as you said then there would no video like this one, would it?

  • @MrDosonhai That's why I keep saying that there's a difference between the people themselves, and the government. If the government changes, I might be willing to visit. My dad might not, for his own reasons, but I can't really persuade him to change his ways.

  • @dameon692002 And about the VN war, it was 2 choices back at the time. Go to the South with the government that was supported by the US WHICH supported the French Imperialists in the Indochina War who had been terrorizing our country for over 100 years or go the North which has the leaders and generals that rebelled them while the so-called Capitalists were to weak to do so or probably didn't care. What would you do if that was your case?

  • @MrDosonhai But, were the VC any better? They went into villages, gathered up all the children, put IED's on their backs, and forced them to march ahead of VC troops, or their villages would be destroyed and their families would be killed. Personally, I wouldn't want to choose either side; I'd rather fight against the French AND the VC. I wouldn't want anyone else to die for me, but I would have no problem dying for anyone else.

  • @dameon692002 Really? where did you get that information, could you send me the link? I know the fact that VC killed thousands of Capitalists back at the time because my last generation took Communism really seriously, thought that by killing Capitalists, no one will have to suffer from those land lords who were torturing the farmers and workers's lives to get every penny they could get anymore. But this was later stopped, if not, then it would the second Pol Pot era, wouldn't it?

  • @MrDosonhai I got that information from people who were there when it happened: both American veterans, and Vietnamese refugees. The information about how the Vietnamese government tortures and kills their Christian inhabitants comes from relief agencies, which get their news from the families of those that are imprisoned. I don't know what you think capitalism is; but, in America, landlords are prohibited from mistreating tenants. It's in their best interest to keep tenants happy.

  • @dameon692002 Then you are wrong again, the government killed them or tortures them because they were a tool the French used in the past to attract believers, and since Christianity comes from the West, those believers will support the French in the invading process. They used priests as the propoganda tools to bring each Vietnamese one by one into submission. Most Vietnamese back at the day didn't like Christians one bit, Communist or not, my government would do it anyway.

  • @MrDosonhai Okay. Here's the thing. First, Christianity is not part of any government. In fact, French culture has turned away from Christianity, for the most part. And really, is torture ever a moral option? The problem is, you're equating a religion to a government; one which has sided more with atheism and agnosticism in the last century. Nonetheless, we're not talking about insurgents (and again, is torture ever justifiable?) We're talking about people practicing a religion... even today.

  • @dameon692002 Christianity was a tool for the French to invade Vietnam, like god creates us, we should unite together as one, but on the outside, the French through that method had succeeded in creating a numbers of Vietnamese followed them. And yes, torturing is bad, but we're talking about a war here, when you're in a war, there's no room for moral, you do what it takes to win the war, even killing your own people (those who follow the French).

  • @dameon692002 Ask of right now, there are plenty of Christians in our country, heck, even some officials. What you're saying is just somewhat wrong, we don't torture any Christians that show their belief peacefully, there's no reason for that. As you can see, one of the biggest church built by the French is still here. I don't know about incidents recently caused by believers but unless you oppose the government, there's no doubt they're gonna have to do something about it.

  • @MrDosonhai I have references, if you'd like links to the articles. That way, you could judge for yourself.

  • @dameon692002 I bet they capture those believers because they're trying to become anti-communists. Yes, in your country, you can do that, oppose the government without being captured but even when you're allowed, there's a limit to it, there's no way any government would let some one to take them down, isn't it? Besides, government born from the citizens themselves, if they're bad, they'll be They can stay there forever, can't they?

  • @MrDosonhai They'll be replaced (sorry about the last comment). What I'm saying is government, Communist or not, they are still Vietnamese, they can be quite dicks sometimes but if you know a Vietnamese, you know that we're not at all violent like the chinese, that's why most Vietnamese still accept to have a Communist party in our country, besides, they're doing well of getting this country back on its feet. It's been good talking to you ^.^

  • @MrDosonhai Oh, there's one more reason that we're still stay as a Communist (more like Socialist now) because we care about the health care and the community, by staying Communism, we prevent any raise of price of any hospital in the country, helping the poor access to medical cares, same with electricity and water.

  • @MrDosonhai There is a limit: usually related to violence against noncombatants. In America, we imprison people who infringe on the rights of others, but it's illegal to torture prisoners here; and, if anyone does, they get sent to prison. And, in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, there are provisions for the people to choose a different government, if they believe that the one in charge is oppressing the people.

  • @MrDosonhai There can be no double standard. If torture is wrong for anyone, it's wrong for everyone. If it's wrong for one nonviolent group, it's wrong for every nonviolent group. Again, these are not armed seditionists; these are peaceful citizens, practicing their beliefs in private. For over a century, the French have favoured atheist and agnostic ideologies. How are the actions of the government against their own people any different from the actions of the French?

  • @MrDosonhai What you're describing sounds more like Feudalism than Capitalism.

  • @dameon692002 You're wrong, they were land lords because they owned a lot of lands, they didn't have power or anything, just purely owning lands because they had the money, but different from your country is, those landlords bought all the land in the region, leaving no land left for the poor to feed themselves, therefore they had to become those landlords tenants, since they're hired by force, there's no reason for the landlords to treat them nicely. You understand now?

  • @MrDosonhai I think I understand what you're talking about now...

  • Comment removed

  • @tuana1206 The people may be okay, but the government and their propaganda are almost as bad as the Nazis and their propaganda.

  • I'll travel to Vietnam and other places on Asia in a couple years, do you know how much do I need per day?? I want to travel through all Asia and Midle East in a year or two...

    Great video! Great experience!

  • I'll travel to Vietnam and other places on Asia in a couple years, do you know how much do I need per day??

    Great video! Great experience!

  • My wife grew up in HCMC. When we were there, we went to a place called Pho Hoa. Outstanding pho. I think that it's in District 3 (not sure). My wife says it's her favorite place. Pho 24 is a popular chain there but we didn't go there.

  • Ho chi Minh, Vietnam's communist founder, is a disguting TRAITOR and MURDERER. He was a member of the Third Communist International established in 1919 by Lenin. He gave up Paracel & Spratly archipelagos with large oil resources to Red China. He even ordered to murder his own mistress named Nong thi Xuan when she threatened to disclose her sexual relationship with him since that would destroy his image as a "Father" of Vietnam who "sacrifices" his whole life for Vietnam revolution.

  • @petitegirl20 how do you know that?

  • Comment removed

  • @petitegirl20 i know what you mean, thanks for the hint :) but Vietnam now has changed a lot, people shouldn't talk about the past if it was not so nice to mention about, right? I think so..but, anyway, Vietnam food's great.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @petitegirl20 ok, are you Vietnamese? I don't understand why Vietnamese have to struggle against Vietnamese, I mean it was the past and we couldn't do anything to change it.

  • @conrui2010

Because you asked, This is a real long story, I want to make it short. Nearly 90 Mils Vietnamese in VN and around the world, We don't want the Vietnamese Communist gives this country away to Chinese.

I'm totally 100% sure, you don't understand "the Vietnames Communist Hidden Story" as We knew. That's all, I can tell you right now, Sir.

Thank you for asking and enjoy the good foods and nice, friendly Vietnamese People but not the VN Communist.

  • @conrui2010

You really make a wrong statement here.

WE, VIETNAMESE NEVER AGAINST VIETNAMESE. WE FIGHT THE "BASTARD, COWARD VIETNAMESE COMMUNIST INVADED VIETNAM"

Do you understand my point??? I'm done here Sir.

  • @petitegirl20 ok, so what are you guys trying to do here? what's your target exactly? to fight the communist as you said? for what? I'm Vietnamese, too and we've known that for a long time but we have to accept that, cuz we still live under the leadership of VNCS, if you tell sth against them, you'll be imprisoned, obviously.

  • @conrui2010

I want to let you know, I was born in the US. If the VN Communist comes over here and stops us saying the "true" about them, We give them a "middle finger" if they touch me, harasses me, I'll blow their head.

Anyway, thousand things, We must do to fight the VN Communist now; and even hundred years to come...I can not tell you everythings.

For now, We just want to educate the young generation to understand "What is the true about Communist, the whole true, nothing but the true"

  • @petitegirl20 I'm watching your channel :) a lil bit confusing, is VNCH called Ngụy? i saw them wearing uniforms just like US army??

  • @conrui2010

We call this: "UN-BRAIN-WASHED" the young generation in VIETNAM.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH, DEMOCRACY FOR VIETNAM.

I got thing to do now. Nice to exchange some ideas with you today. Hope, we will have a chance to talk again. Have wonderful day.

  • @petitegirl20 can i ask you a personal question? how old are you? and how long do you think you can do it? I'm from South Vietnam and I didn't know what happened in the past, who was right and who was wrong, I've been told stories by my parents and grandparents, of course we do know all about the ''true face'' of VN Communism, and so does the young generation, but what should we do to make it better, nothing. It takes long time till VN Communism collapse.anyway, thanks for the interesting talk

  • @jose408ca : pho 24 is one of the most expensive here but it's quality is only ok. you should try one of those without the air conditioners :))

  • @jose408ca Communist propaganda :O

  • @jose408ca You're always welcome in our country ! Maybe, our country is not modern like US, tokyo... but it has something that others country dont have. I'm happy when you said that.
