  • Fantastic! I hate this throw but I am going to try your entry and see if it will change my thoughts on tai otoshi. Clear instruction. Thank you.

  • David if you please could do one on something so simple but so forgotten by some of a certain off shoot of judo. Breaking fall and how important it is and how it is basically same movement used to throw. I pull my hair out seeing on how so many of that certain off shoot don't do it correctly and do not focus on it. The exercises and warm ups also. And the safety procedures. No one in truth should practice any of this without a knowledgeable certified instructor.

  • very good...to often players forget the attack entry and arm movement in the lift pull, I like your post, keep it up. tiai otoshi uses no hip lift, just may be something i noticed but other wise a great explanation of (tai-ostoshi) a body drop throw. For those interested go to judoinfo.com and see the different throws and techniques. Keep it up David! Oh the same movement used to break fall is used to throw as norm.

  • I like the way he keeps his hikite beside his body. I think I could apply that to my throw. As for the critics be scientific and try it apply what is useful disregard what is useless make it your own.

  • @koriki69 hahaha bruce lee

  • thers a lot of detail in this video and its really good.

you can learn alot from just this video.

  • lol bella u dont kno what the hell ur talkin about

  • But this is not the tai-otoshi... you can see the hip action, tai-otshi isn´t a hip-throw. Is is a hand-trow, only a hand throw...

  • @19Bella09 -hahahaha a HAND throw? Dont put any stains on that white belt, im sure its blinding.

  • @Mr4433 19Bella09 is right. Tai otoshi is a hand throw.

  • Great instruction!

I like this throw but, I always jam and sprain my toes while doing it. Any tips on how to avoid that or tips on taping your toes for support should be the next tutorial.

  • That's one version. The difference in kuzushi from tai and seoi otoshi is the right leg position. Tai the kuzushi is the back of the calk for seoi its the upper back thigght and your in front of him tai your off more to his side...

  • tai otoshi is all tricky. I'm having a few problems throwing otoshi properly. Still, it's my favorite = ) The shoulder and elbow reminders were great.

  • I rmbr when i had trouble with it. um...i would have to say, just dont look back at your opponent and look at the "watch" on your wrist from your pulling arm.

for me this was the biggest concern cuz i was always scared of turning my back to my opponent

  • I like your technique. Your vid helped lots thanks.

  • Thank u for breaking down taio. I've been doing those same mistakes with my lapel hand. It becomes more of a seio than taio. Very helpful
