  • :( Brad Renfro.....the kid from Tom and Huck! RIP :/

  • just finished reading this chapter..

  • 2:19 right there when you see his eyes turn white you're looking at the devil! To say that Nazis were evil is like saying grass is green. I rented this movie a couple of times and I was left kind of disappointed because this had a whole lot of potential.

  • Very good adaptation of Stephen King's novel! really deals with serious themes on how evil the Nazis were. I saw this in theaters and thought it was one of 1999's best films.

  • Wow, this twink made me wet. Fucking hell, he's hawt! [LOL]

  • Comment removed

  • The way the movie poster is(both faces half covered like a shadow of one another) i expected the movie to end with the "apt pupil" being elected as president with his inner desire to rebuild the Reich.

  • Oh look jew guilt complex.. i cannot believe people still believe this shit.

Ah well the jewish warmongers are causing WW3 with the planned nuclear attack of Iran. I cannot wait for them(Israel) to be wiped out then maybe we can have peace for once.

  • @TigerMilitia

That's not at all what this movie is about, the Holocaust is just a plot device in here, idiot. You are basically saying that no movies can have nazi's or the Holocaust in them or they are a "jew guild trip".

  • Brad Renfro was soooo Hot when he was a Teen!!! Cant believe he is dead..im soo sad, he was a very talented Actor...

  • ...whoa...

  • Love this film. It's so meaningfull- I think family guy did a skit on it recently and called the episode "German guy"

  • i just finished the book, it was great, disturbing... but great!

  • @thereddeath1100 Me too like 5 minutes ago!

  • A masterpiece! Ian McKellen was truly amazing in this film.

  • @TheAltair4

Damn right, Mckellen is a terrific actor. Do you think this is the less disgusting version of "In a Glass Cage"?

  • @Johnlindsey289 In a Glass Cage is slightly different from this film but they both share certain similarities. Even though the novella by Stephen King is darker and much more shocking than this film is it's still one of my all time favorite adaptations.

  • @TheAltair4

Do you think this is one of Singer's best and Ian was good as Magneto in his X-Men films? In a Glass Cage was quite a horrifying experience don't you think? i rented that movie 6 years ago from one of my city's video stores where you can rent rare exploitation, art and foreign films and omg it was shocking especially when that nazi gasoline injection, what a hard film to watch that one is. Apt. Pupil is one of my fave adaptations too.

  • @Johnlindsey289 This is my personal favorite of Singer's films. It's a work of art really and Ian gave a truly brilliant performance. In a Glass Cage was sickening garbage that i refuse to ever watch again though.

  • @TheAltair4

The Usual Suspects still remains my fave Singer film and i considered it his masterpiece and his most celebrated work.

  • Great performances from everyone involved in a gripping film.

  • I'm so angry the 2008 Academy Awards didn't include Brad Renfro in their Memoriam that year. He was a great actor and should be recognized in his death.

  • This preview makes this movie look good. But it's not. I hated the film and I hated the book.

  • Sir Ian McKellen rules !! Best actor in the whole wide world for me...

  • Am I the only one who see the irony in this, that in this movie Ian Mckellen plays a nazi war criminal. And years later in the X-men movies he plays Magneto who's not only a holocaust survivor but also lost his parents in Auschwitz. And Apt Pupil is also directed by Bryan Singer who also directed the first two X-men movies. This can't be a coincidence, can it?

  • This movie while ok, has NOTHING on the short story.

  • @Ihateworking1 I totally agree. The movie had numerous talented actors, and the book/story/novella was a masterpiece--very difficult to live up to, but I wish it had been so much better. Not a mini-series, but just a longer, more detailed story.

  • the film is amazing

  • Ha, Family Guy remade this in series 9, calling it 'German Guy'.

  • RIP, Brad. This was one of your best roles. 'What I'm doing is nothing compared to what the Israelis will do to you once they get a hold of you. Now MARCH!'

  • I said wtf through out the book

  • The book ending is much scarier and really gets under your skin. as what i was told.

  • too bad he didnt get that little something from Aldo the Apache he couldnt have taken of...:P

  • Like Gran Torino but better basically (the book)

  • Don't go fucking with Nazis kid

  • i say the kid needed a dog

  • I wanted Todd to be punished

  • @missyadams In the book that happen

  • @FabianMemo i've read the book more than once; i expected the movie to end the same way

  • @missyadams Yep,I love this book,I was so dissapointed with the end, even there are some good movies based on Stephen King books like shawshank Redemption or Green Mile.

  • this was a Stephen King book, the movie is pretty intense to.

  • I loved the book. I fell in love with Todd and his slow mutation into that unspeakable monster was horrifying. It really got it's point across.

  • I´m from Austria and I think it´s a good movie! But I believe there´s a many NAZIS alive!! This time was very interresting!

  • dis was agrat muvie!

But i didn'nt understand it adall

  • they destroy the book, terrible movie

  • @FabianMemo I totally agree. The movie was kinda good at moments though, Looking back, the book taught a better lesson then the movie ending. plus there was much more weight to the original story by S. King.

  • this trailer is actually good

  • movie was fairly right with the book except for few things

Dussander - Killed cats, dogs, then homeless, Suicide by pills before being offcialy discovered

Todd - after being bugged for change by a homeless, Todd killed the person, didn't stop with just one (don't think he was ever officialy discovered). At end shot French several times with a gun his dad gave him, then went off, shot several people before being taken down

Other than those it was pretty good

  • @riomefire I know what you mean, it had a quite different ending, but in my opinion Bryan Singer put out a very interesting ending, it happened in 1984 so today Todd ´s a big boy and he´s out there , it´s almost like a New Holocaust with a new leader idea , anyway ,great movie and incredible book.

  • im hungry

  • A waaay underated movie. This is a movie with some very deep themes involving evil and dualism and homeroticism.

  • Just..going to put this out there, but Todd looks a bit older than 13. Should really get actors that appear to be same person from story. But still an amazing movie/story.

  • I loved the story, just ordered movie off ebay, hope it dosn't disapoint :)

  • Brad,you're the best .

  • 14/88

  • a highly disturbing story from Stephen King. great performances from both Ian McKellen and the late Brad Renfro! this is Brad Renfro's best work ever for me. to bad he died young

  • Someday people of this generation will say, "Why was I a good liberal?"

  • is that tommy lee jones?

  • i got this movie from amazon it on vhs and suddenly when i put it in the vcr it eat the tape it did i gota 2 vcr combo and 2 one eat the tape. and i really like this movie.

  • this looks like an amazing movie

  • life is a tiger you have to grab by the tail, and if you don't know the nature of the beast it will eat you up

  • The novella (I haven't seen the film) was fascinating and chilling. It explores a concept that may be true; that just learning about evil taints a person. Perhaps it's all the more reason to shield our children for as long as possible from discovering what horrors are perpetrated every day in some places in our world. There are some things that even now I wish I just didn't know about.

  • i like the end of the book ....the man creates someone like him....it shows how can people became bad without even knowing

  • Ths thing that struck me in this movie is how the kid got the SS uniform for the old man - even if it was a movie costumers version it would of been bloody expensive!

  • @TRUMPER007 In the book, it was a cheap costume that the boy ordered. It was fraying only after a few months. So I guess he could afford it with his paper route money!

  • Just got Different Seasons by Stephen King, and I've read Shawshank og Apt Pupil, and cant wait to see the movies. Apt Pupil was just.. wonderful. Hope to two last ones are as good!

  • @sigridgl Haven't you seen Shawshank? If so, you MUST watch it. The novella is nothing special but the movie is possibly the greatest of all time.

  • wow Todd looks... similar with my imagination when I read the book. Although Dussender, I expected the fat old man :p Although he's quite fearful.

  • Very naughty mr. nazi.

don't try to char-broil mr. snickers!

  • I've never read the book but I know the story and it sound great. Movie looks good as well, I didn't know Ian Mckellen played in this one, now I'm definitely going to see the movie, he's one of my favorite actors

  • Nazi Gandalf.

  • @the215renaissanceman You just made me inhale my drink :'D

  • @the215renaissanceman I literally laughed out loud while reading this.

  • @natureshamy you too?

  • @the215renaissanceman Reichsführer Gandalf der graue

  • I just got Different Seasons, I'm reading Shawshank right now, then this one then the body, how different is the story from movie, like just little things but same overall plot and story?

  • each story is so much better at describing emotions

  • the ending to apt pupil is much different in the book then the movie

  • good film ;-)

  • this is a gud movie

  • Just finished reading this yesterday. My new favorite Stephen King story

  • @JakeCadaverous I just finished it today. A great story by Stephen King, no doubt about that.

  • I'm to the "Here kitty kitty" part. Good story... but the movie just looks average from what I can tell by looking at this video.

  • It creep you out when he gets in uniform and character, his whole persona change. You start to realize he loved his unspeakable murderous position without regret or remorse. No spoiler intended just expressing the feeling. This is a great history lesson movie, Fact based but fiction.

  • this movie is not good

  • I believe in the existence of evil!!!

    jude sucks

  • im never gonna talk 2 ian mackellen lol

  • I've read the short story, in Different Seasons, and I'm hoping this will be just as good. It certainly looks it.

  • this movie was creepy! arrr crazy

  • I agree-this was his best work, after that teh shawshank redemption, than the green mile,I never finished the stand,I am getting back to it.

  • Reading this again after I don't know how long. Forgot how good it was. Haven't seen the film in even longer. I remember that while it was an ok adaption, they watered down a lot of stuff.

  • thats creepy, when he's drawing the swastikas on his paper... definately gonna read and watch this one...

  • it doesn't disappoint.... Stephen King went hard on this

  • You should read it. It's my favorite story of his.

  • Steven King's Apt Pupil is just incredible. he also wrote

the shawshank redemption - stand by me

all good. this is the best one i think

  • yes i agree....it was my favorite out of Different Seasons...but they are all amazing

  • Green Mile, The Shining...

In my opinion The Stand is the best.

  • apt pupil is the best book Ive ever read from Stephen King

  • i first saw brad renfro in the adaptation of john grisham's THE CLIENT. I can't believe he's dead, so young.... from a heroin over dose :(

  • Great movie. i cant believe brad is gone. wow!!

  • looks good can't wait 2 read or see it whatever comes 1st

  • when I read this book I thought that Todd was younger like around 10 but in the movie he around 17 (I was way off)

  • he was at the start of the book

  • 13..

  • yeah I knew it was something like that, I haven't read it in a while

  • The movie takes place over one summer while the book takes place over four years.

  • but he grew up during the book

  • @scrambleeggjunky35 In the book it starts with todd being 13

  • i haven't finished the book yet but what i've read so far is very graphic and quite disturbing, from what i've read here i'm expecting a great ending

  • poor cat

  • Why does he have blood on his face on 2:00?

  • ...He kills some people. o_O;

  • brad renfro - RIP :-(

  • Germany raus.

  • The book is amazing. The film is completely different it isnt bad though.

  • I agree. The book so much more violent compared to the movie... I think they wanted to make a more 'teaching-valuable' end. The book's story is a little psychopathic.

  • @ConConShareef the book freaked me out to much, I stopped reading it after he had he dream about raping the Jewish girl

  • @ConConShareef You mean short story?

  • @blaze643 Alright yeah, the short story you pedantic mother fucker.

  • @ConConShareef No need to swear, just a little correction -.-

  • @blaze643 I was only joking brother don't cry...

  • Great novella so far.

  • brad renfro was hot...what shame he died :/

  • Sir Ian McKellen is an awesome actor! Renfro was a rising star, too.

  • There's some kind of link between Facism and supressed homosexuality? I think this is one of the most interesting things about the movie....an seemingly endless number of films which deal with aspects of Nazism- -surely a ridiculous obsession.

  • @japanesesweet I didnt see any link to homosexuality in this book, but that would have been an interesting slant

  • i love the stephen king story. its absolutely amazing!!! i liked the ending in the story much better than the movie ending though. it truly just summed up how corrupted todd had become. but i still love this movie and brad renfro is sexy as hell!!

  • the movie still kicks ass, regardless

  • the book was honestly more disturbing than his other stories

  • I read the story, so I'll watch the movie to see if it does a right depiction of the book. The book's ending was amazing and horrifying.

  • the movie doesnt hold a candle to the book, pretty frustrating :(

i just read the book, amazing. ive seen the movie 11years ago or so

  • Seriously. It shows one murder committed by both Todd and Mr. Dussander, but not the 10+ ea. they do in the book along with the mind blowing end. They should have at least put the original ending in considering they had enough time since they cut out the other murders.

  • The ending of the book was so much better than the ending of the movie. I was so bummed. The book's ending portrayed Todd as truly corrupted and truly evil. The movie ending was just stupid.

  • what about the convo with the teacher, i thought that gave a perfect view of all todd had learned from his mentor, leaving the audiencet to question what would a child with a nazi teacher be truly capable of?

  • entertaining movie but the trailer was poorly made and tend to be when it comes to movies that play more on the psychological.. the movie diggs deeper and deeper and after some time you begin to see the hole has become to big to get up..unlike mutch of the mainstream that goes up(happy) and down(scary) and up again to give you spookes..

  • Great performances by Mckellan and Renfro in an intelligently made thriller by Bryan Singer.

  • holy shit brad renfro is so hot

  • Wow, even the trailer creeps me out in a way, that has to be how horrifying it is.

  • any going to upload this id like to see it.

  • yea the trailer makes me just not wanna watch it

  • RIP Brad...miss you already

  • i really thought this way a sci-fi horror movie of a german war criminal possedseed by hitler's spirit and i didn't know it was a stephen king story until i grew up years later

  • great storie - king should be more in this way instead of his spookey, spookey monster stories...

  • Wow Stephen King has SOOO MANY awesome stories.

  • Great movie!! Please someone upload this movie!!!

  • i love the movie!!! and i wann read the book

  • I read the Novella last year and it was really good. Kinda graphic. But I want to see the movie! The trailer for it seems good.

  • If you liked this trailer, you will like the movie. The main difference between the two is the level of perversity. The film is lighter than the novella.

  • AMAZING STEPHEN KING SHORT!!!!

  • the book was good but disturbing i have yet to see the film have heard it is not too good though as my brother saw it on tv a year or two ago

  • Its good in 2:19

  • lol Yea. 88!

  • I just finished reading this novella. Was this film worth watching?

  • i think so, i read the book first and i think the movie gives it a little twist.

even after reading the book, my jaw just dropped at the end of the movie, i think the movie was done really well. more mind games...

  • I saw this when I was, like, 5 so I can't remember it well. I only remember Ian McKellen shoving a cat in an oven or something but anywho, is the movie very different from the book? Cause I've seen movies based on the books that were a disgrace...

  • I am sorry to say but Brad Renfro has passed away :(

  • McKellen reminds me so much of one of the most evil people I've known about...

    My Nazi great-grandfather. =(

    This film was good though.

  • wath did you do Brad ? You´ve had a great future ....

  • I didn't really get why he started telling this idiot kid about all this shit, seems a little bit illogical to me, although i dont remember this movie so well i only saw it when it was new. Nazis cover their tracks quite well it wouldn't be hard for him to take off. My grandfather was asked to testify against his former commander joachim peiper and he told them to piss off. I would imagine someone who had that much to hide would just off the kid if he caused trouble.

  • todd had proof the man was a nazi and in return for his silence he wanted to hear stories about his time during the war.

if he had killed todd i'm pretty sure it would have drawn more attention to him.

  • Hmm maybe you're right.

  • I reeeeaaallly dont get this movie. Can somebody please explain it to me??? Oh btw, God bless Brad. May he rest in peace

  • It can be interpreted in many ways, but I read the book, which is excellent by the way, as a reference to the evil in the world, how it can be hidden right under our noses, and how it can emerge from places we never expected

  • has anyone seen this movie or read the book? Is it any good. Cuz if it is i would love to read it

  • I saw the movie years ago it seemed to be pretty good to me but it all depends on your point of veiw.

  • The movie's pretty good, but the book is loads better.

  • You absolutely have to read the book, it is among the best pieces of writing I have ever read, seriously, read it!

  • im actually reading the book right now.

    It pretty good :]

    very well written.

  • can anyone tell me what rating this is please. thanks.

  • its a 15

  • thank you so it would be pg-13

  • what rating is this. can anyone tell me please. thanks

  • I met Brad in Disneyland 10 years ago. He was with this girl and we were in line for a ride, but I cant remember what it was. I remember him kicking her butt and blamed it on me, LoL! I wasnt sure if that was Brad or not, but it was. My dad was video taping us and I wish I knew wheres that video tape. He was sitting behind me, which it was cool. I should asked him for an autograph. He will always be my first celebrity crush. RIP Brad.

  • oh man brad renfro was soo hott..

  • I still can't believe Brad Renfro is dead!!! :(

  • I'm almost done reading the story.. but this trail doesen't really convey the gut-wrenching revulsion you feel later on in the story.

  • I just have one question.... How did it FEEL.. boy? How did it FEEL.

  • Stephen King's best movie.

  • ok. I'll paly that.
