  • great review...

  • thanks for taking the time to review this. I have been weighing options on models without playing with them, and tikka (unlike others) doesnt do professional feature reviews. So the bolt action and safety comments were greatly appreciated.

  • hey man ive ben looking at getting my first rifle some time soon and im having trouble picking between a tikka and a remmington. have you much experience with a remmington 700? i hear they have the smoothest bolt action and was just wondering how you would rate the tikka in comparison. also it seems like both brands have a lot of rifles that have heavier barrels instead of free floating barrels, is there that much difference in accuracy and weight?

  • LIKE OMG THAT RIFLE IS SHARP!

  • That's the only down fall with the Tikka... You have to take the magazine out to full load it...

  • i live in canada and i cant find the t3 lite with the iron sights anywhere, its getting annoying cause i want a gun with sights but id rather not get a lever action.

  • i fell in love with this rifle the other day at the gun shop and im 100% positive im gonna buy it!!

  • I already bought one last week but great review, that guns awesome..I agree with that clip price its not made of gold jeez. Do not count on that half safety at all is the only downfall to that rifle ( not much of an issue) and get a muzzle brake it helps alot for that rifle. As soon as you handle that gun and pick it up at the store you know its the one....

  • Nice rifle, can anybody suggest a good calibre for a grizzly bear? what about 30-06?

  • @rajvosa71000 .30-06 with 220 grain bullets would be a great choice. If you're not a great shot and can handle recoil try out a .300 rem mag

  • @mcmikeblues You should know 220 grain bullet are not dependable for expanding fired from a 30-06 due the 06 has little power to cause 220's to expand .

The best bullet weight for the 30-06 is 165 grain and the heaviest is 180 grain .

In my 30 years of guiding all most every 30-06 fired 220 grain bullet recovered never expanded and many ran out of power for penetrating very far through the animal .

Heavy bullets are not a good idea in 30-06 guns !

  • What was with those two guys at the end?

  • Nice review. You're a good dad and a good husband for taking your son while you had a video project to work on.

I'm interested in a Tikka .308, myself, but I appreciate your post.

    Take care!

  • @webfox1 Many thanks for that comment. I do appreciate comments etc of this nature.

All the best in your .308 quest - a good calibre!

  • Great demo. I'm shopping Tikkas now. Thanks!

  • The ammo was Federal Premium 130gn Ballistic Tip. The range to the bottle was approx 100metres.

  • what was the range of that milk bottle

  • what ammo are you using

  • Is the person in the background talking bothering you? because at 3:31 he says "How the fuck does that work? I mean, they were just raping everyone for years!"

  • reply fast

what is the diffrence of an remington and a tikka?

i mean distance bullet accuracy and weight

    (sorry vor my bad english)

  • Very Good, want a 308 Win but not to shoot junk military ammo and never steel cased ruin your gun! Your still able to have guns, good for you! dont Que up to give them up when the time comes

  • 3:34 How in the fuck does that work the guys in the background

    lol

  • FINLAND FTW!

  • Just got the T3 Battue and I can't wait to take her out. Hunting season is too far away!

  • They were just rapin everybody for years, haha. but seriously great video man, helped me out

  • I Personally own 3 tikkas, one in 223,243 and 7-08. I once Joked that the one magazine they come with is all you will need to sight them in,I then got my 7-08 and it took me a mere 5 rounds to get it under 1inch, now its 3 rounds touching at 300m.

They do kick a fair bit more than other rifles that Ive shot and their stock recoil pad is quite harsh especially on the larger calibres, the only other rifle I would consider aside from a Tikka would be a Hogue stocked HOWA 1500,got 1 in 25-06

  • good review nice rifle i got one in 6.5x55 swede and used to have one in 7mm mag i believe tikka and CZ are extremley good euro made rifles for a very reasonable price

  • Thanks for the review. Nice rifle.

  • what brand of ammo do you use and what grain do u find best in your .270

  • lol last word FUCK!

  • those guys hanging around were hard case...dont they own their own firearms... soon as you were shooting they ran over :O lol

  • i hace the same gun. its killed a bear a blacktail doe and nice 4 point muley. its an AWESOME gun super lite and a real tack driver.

  • What's up with the kid in the background?

  • whats the recoil like ?

  • Wow, that' some rifle and shooter. It's got some good kick too. Where's the range?

  • Dude, Phone!

  • Hi - I recommend you rely on more than just foam inserts with a 270. Believe it or not it is now a requirement in New Zealand to have foam ear plugs AND grade 5 muffs at NZ Police ranges etc. Old school thinking suggests this is over kill but the science is clear - you will get hearing loss with foam inserts alone. Cheers.

  • I don't usually bother reading viewer comments after watching insipid amateur videos like this one ... but you guys are really funny. One viewer stating he likes to shoot deer in the nut-sack ... is that better than a chest shot? And all those comments about the size of other guys dicks ... I wish I could have heard all this stuff on a video ... Thanks to all for a really good laugh. As soon as they have a hunting season on politicians I'm gonna work on perfecting that nut-sack shot. LOL.

  • I've been looking for a gun that i could hunt small game like ground hogs with, but also go hunting with it for deer and prairie dogs too possible. Is a .243 what u would recommend and is the Tikka T3 that brand u would also recommend?

  • Comment removed

  • i have a tikka t3 lite in 308 and you can get a 5 round mag for it but they are about 100 bucks

  • i think the 3 round mag is because thats the hunting legal limit, here in Finland where the gun is made.. i mean surely there would be room to make at least 5 round one that fits flush.. and im sure the fact that it comes out of the bottom has something to do with being able to manipulate the mag easily just by touch, like in dark or while wearing gloves..

  • soo u would recommend it?

  • watch my roo hunting headshot and long shot using a tikka 222. :)

  • Sock-o Sock-o Sock-o get it right.

  • half cock ahah

  • what kinda accuracy are you getting from that rifle at 100 and 200? nice rifle. i have one in .30-06 and it is a blast to shoot.

  • @fadingabel7

I have a .308 Tikka T3 and I have mine sighted in at 200 you can fucking snipe a deers nut sack off if you wanted to..

  • 3:31 - (Guy in the background) "How the fuck does that work?! I mean, they were just raping everyone for years."

Too funny. Nice gun by the way.

  • Yeah - kinda interesting conversation going on in the background wasn't it! LOL

  • it's pronounced sock-o stupid

  • Comment removed

  • csjackson.. what a wanker. A fucking yank telling anyone how to pronouce a word is funny, let alone a Finnish word. Get over yourself man.

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO. What a precious little man you are. I take the piss out of your for being such a pedantic asshole, caring enough about the pronounciation of a Finnish word by a New Zealander that you bother to comment, and THEN you admonish me, albeit with semi-literate insults. Further proving my point. Mate, showing off that you think you can pronounce a word won't make up for that tiny penis of yours. Sorry.

  • looking at buying the .308 model does anyone have one? would be interested in feedback

  • 308 is fine for non-dangerous game, if you dont have lion or grizzly in area. 243win or 257 weatherby will reach out and kill at 600 yards with proper bullet IE; Barnes -X and shooter knows what hes doing.

  • you can buy a 5 round clip for the gun its like 92 bucks

  • im going to by tikka t3 or cheap sako as my first riffel

  • Tikka is bird in finland :D lol

  • Working under a famous Alaskan master guide years ago.. I asked him if he could only have one rifle, what would he choose?... He said with-out a doubt....the humble .243, because everything that gets hit by it ...dies.. as if hit by lightning. The worst caliber he feels is the 7mm mag, everything hit by it runs off.... almost everytime. And he has seen hundreds, if not 1000s of big game critters shot.

  • @mrsmelzbad

that is the biggest bull shit i have ever heard...i have dropped two deer with a 7 mm mag and i have only been hunting for 2 years and i started at 16

  • After about 40 more years of hunting around the world , let me know what you think, until then mouth shut....ears & brain open

  • right................ have fun with that .243 when you have a 600lb boar charging you. if you like so much i hope you get burried with it. you know. i don't need to hunt all around the world for 40 years. i've hunted right here in the south where my ancestors have hunted for thousands of years. you don't hve to be an experienced race car driver to figure out that you probably shouldn't drive straight into a wall. common sense is common sense.

  • You should know , lil buddy, youve killed 1000z of wild critters, Im sure?

  • no shit talker. just enough to know a bull shitter when i see one. go troll under a fucking bridge. adults and real hunters are talking here

  • I watched my dad shoot a mule deer with a 7mm rem mag from about 20 yards in the shoulder. it ran off with barely a drop of blood and after about an hour of tracking we finally found it. Myself i shoot a .243 and have never seen a deer move more than ten feet after i shot. Shot plecement is key.

  • Ide love one of these in 280 rem.... but dont think they have them yet? Gunsmiths... can they be re-done to shoot 280?

  • anything can be done if you have lotsa money. why dont you just go with 7mm rem mag ?

  • nice gun, love the .270, not a fan with only a 3 round mag, my savage 110 holds 4 in the mag of .270

  • @therealdestructicus if it wasn't for the tikkas mag it'd be the best all around rifle

  • tikkas rule

  • I love the Tikka .270, but has anybody else noticed that you can't unload the gun without disengaging the safety? It's probably not a big deal, but it doesn't seem very safe to me.

  • That is how it is with a lot of models for opening the bolt.

  • it might not be very safe but for the guys like me who shoot left handed its the best thing so that when ur carrying ur rifle close to ur body it keeps the bolt from lifting and causing ur first shell to fall out on the ground

  • What a great rifle and a great video. I'm getting one in 2 weeks with a late paycheck! Anyone know the cost of the magazines here in the US?

  • poor guy just gets harrased by people and children at the end of his shots... he looks annoyed =)

great info none the less 5 *'s

  • Iron sites are key..too many rifles don't have them. If you are out in the field and drop/bang the scope, you are screwed. 100 bucks for a mag is bad!

  • I love iron sights. I agree, more rifles should come with them.

  • YAY more Kiwi's rocking the Tikka!!! awesome

  • How does the Tikka 3 Lite in stainless compare to a CZ-550 American both in 30.06 calibers?

  • NZ'er I can tell by the accent.Tikkas are very popular with kiwi hunters.Mines in .270

  • yea i use the oldmans 7mm - 08. nice guns.

  • Very nice for hunting and backyard target shooting(but only out in the country)>

  • Tikka has a good price-quality ratio.

  • does anyone know how the t3 compares to the new Thompson Centre Venture??

  • Proud owner of a Tikka T3 Tactical in .308 with a Sako muzzle break. Just took it out Friday. Fantastic weapon. Highly recommend!

  • Got mine in 30/06, I adjusted the trigger to 2lbs... its freakin sweet!!! so crisp... so light...

  • have a look at my channel - vid of me shooting my dad's in 6.5x55

  • Nice vid. I've been looking at getting one of these for awhile. I can't justify paying 1500USD for the tactical version though. I may just settle for the lite version. 100 bucks for the mag?!?!? That IS ridiculous.

  • Is there a difference in accuracy between the 30-06 light and the varmint in acuracy?

  • its not a mark 5 257 wby mag its a good gun for being $369.99 but my wby is the best gun money can buy i spent $2800 for my wby

  • Question: Were you saying the T3 mag does not comes with a mag, or were you saying its $100 to replace them?

  • Good review.. I pick up my 270win Tikka T3 Varmint in a couple of weeks.. Cant wait..

  • nice gun there mate. I just ordered a tikka t3 hunter in 25-06 with a leaupold 3-9x50 scope, should be a good little package

  • "Half cock"........*snicker SNORT*

    Kiwi in Canada?.

    I want one in 22-250.

  • Dude, where's your hearing protection?

    And the kids'?

  • Before you 'jump the gun' on it matey - I am actually wearing foam inserts for hearing protection and my young boy who was with me was both wearing ear-muffs as well as being back about 20 feet near the vehicle at the time of shooting. I never go to the rifle range without protection for myself or my boy.

  • Sorry

  • @curea229 Hes got earplugs in, but the kid should be in the car, locked preferably.

  • Ha! My Enfield holds 10. Nearly bought one pf these though, very well made rifle though.

  • wich rifle would be the nearest to a m24?or model 700?

FFR thanx and nice review, keep in mind I do live in south africa

  • Youve been playing to much call of duty 4 son

  • a m24 aint no Fucking cod4 rifle "father"!

  • The M24 is the Remington 700

  • why does the m24 exist then?

  • It's the military version. Read the wikipedia on it. Various parts are different, it fires 7.62 as opposed to .308 for example.

  • I enjoy the 7.62 more acctualy, but still I want to know the closest civilian rifle that acts like a m24 or r700(thats why I named both)

  • The Remington 700 is a civilian rifle. Every gun store will have one. You could probably mod it so its identicle to the M24, considering how popular the R700 is.

  • thank you

  • The model 700 is the base of the m24. The m24 is just the army's varient of it and the m40 is the marines. so if you want to know what the nearest rifle to the m24 or model 700 is the m401.

  • Thanx m8!

  • *L* as said the Rem 700 is the civilian version of the M24. You won't find any big difference. The Nato 7.62x51 is 308 Win. I have heard of some very small variations due to standards being different and I think the load on the 7.62 is hotter than the 308. The military round has armour piercing capabilities which is why it has a full metal jacket but does not have mushrooming capabilities due to the Hague Convention. Ask anyone who has shot much they will tell you 308 is a top round for game

  • Why the hell did the hauge convention interfere with the ballistic properties of a bullet.Don't they have much better stuff to worry about like Depleted uranium ammo and Nuclear weapons.

  • i have a stainless synthetic t3 light in .338 win mag its great rifle with great accuracy the trigger was perfect right from the factory, very crisp with no creep. very good gun for the money

  • got ear muffs?

  • hey guys, lookin for some advice. i have military experience with semi-auto weapons but never any bolt action. moving to africa and lookin for a huntin rifle, is the .308 strong enough to take down a kudu? ive been referred to the t3 by many sources and will def go for it.

  • dont get a .308 buy a 300 wsm or ultramag

  • for Africa, you don't want anything less than .338...the animals there are much larger and tougher than anywhere else in the world

  • Thanks Stagsroar. I'm currently umming & arring between the Remington 700 and the Tikka T3. Looking at either .243 or .308 calibre. I appreciate your review mate.

  • You can cast your own mags vary easily. Look at the "Tap Plastics" videos, use a fiberglass for the filler, something strong!

  • Well done. I bought this same rifle for my son a couple of years ago. A really nice shooter in the .270 Win.

  • thanx matee i was thinking about buyin the .308 version but u have shown me that the gun is brill thankyou for this vid.

  • lol 2:34, is that your grandaughter?

  • My son!

  • @rs4915 that's embarassing.

  • @900add ahaha xD was thinking the same... poor guy xD

  • im thinking about getting the Tikka T3 Tactical, and i am debating to get it in the .223 or .308, any thoughts?

It will be used for vermint and target - up to 400yds

    thx

  • .308 for sure cant go wrong dont worry about recoil either.. and if you get a 308 you can go for deer or moose

  • well ive now decided to go for .243, lol

  • ya i'd go .308

  • Yer i got a TIKKA T3 HUNTER in blued walnut 30.06 and i think its great light and easy to the shoulder i use 150 grn winchester bullets for everything from Sambar Fallow Pigs and goats GREAT ALL ROUND CALIBER

  • I own a tikka t3 and its a very accurate rifle,i use mine for fox control and its well worth the money, only thing is the magazine is shite, apart from that its a good bit of kit.

  • Darn it man, 100$ for crappy little piece of plastic(magazine)!!!!!

  • not crappy its actually just as good if not better than steel

  • Thanks Dane. I do appreciate your input but I was asking the poster of the video, StagsRoar.

  • If i had use a remington I may better be able to give you a more intelligable answer - but fact is i have not really had a lot to do with them myself. The pro 8 cons of the Tikka i have obviously posted what i can in the video - but to compare it to a Remington 700... i would be lying if i tried. Sometimes the best way to find out such issues is on a Hunting Forum - but bearing in mind people will still have their own bias. You just have to sift out fact from favoritism!

  • Thanks for the informative video review. One question...If you had to choose between a Remington 700 in .30-06 or a Tikka T3 in .30-06, which would you rather own and why? Thanks.

  • tikka 'cause of the smooth bolt and small bolt lift angle, but remington for the steel frigger guard etc, but i'd go for the tikka it's a prettier rifle.

  • aaah balls. that's meant to read trigger guard...

  • i was in the same situation and it really doesnt matter except the t3s action is smoothe, it uses a magazine, the gun is tested sub moa where the 700 is more proven and the 700 boltaction the the best in the world

i went with the t3 because of the waay the bolt glides and clicks

both guns will out shoot 99% of everybody

and for my aplication of deer hunting in CT where the longest shot will be 150 yards so it really didnt matter

  • Test the trigger on both guns, and there's your answer. Tikka has a much better trigger, bolt, and is guaranteed sub-moa.

  • Hey I'm new at this stuff. Whats a sub-moa?

  • MOA= minute of angle, its used to measure how accurate a weapon is. Fire a few shots into a target at 100 metres and if all bullets land within 1 inch circle then it has 1moa. please correct me, if i am wrong

  • That is basically it Indaryan although it is an approximation. I did a calculation to see and it is 1.047 inches at 100 yards. That is the diameter that gives you an angle of one minute from one side of the circle to the other side. I don't know how they do it when shooters talk about MOA. If you were talking about one MOA deviation from centre you end up with a 2 inch diameter circle.

  • thanks... =)

  • im a 30-06 person...

  • I am looking into buying one of these how much would the price run around?

  • Around $700=00 US

  • i got my tikka for 450 i got a good deal

  • LMAO good bye Water Jug

  • Thanks for the advice, It's the one i will get. You explained it very well.

  • My 7 mm Rem Mag T3 shoots 1 inch groups right out of the box. Excellent bolt action and trigger. The plastic magazine leaves something to be desired but this is the best rifle on the market for under a grand. No offense but only in Canada (or France)would you half cock a bolt action!

  • wow 100 bucks? i am not a fan of detachable magazines for hunting rifles, its one thing if its semi auto or an ar 15 but for say my Remington 700 .270 id prefer it to be integral but its detachable though i NEVER remove it

  • Actually since having made & posted this video the magazines have gone down in price considerably. I have seen them here now for about $65 - $70 cad.

  • Tikka from Finland!! YEES :D

  • nice review mate!

  • Thanks for that!

  • do you think this is 2 dangerous for 14 YEAR OLD ?

  • Under correct supervision I see nothing dangerous for a 14 year old. The question really might be is : What could a 14 year old tolerate with regards to recoil etc if you wanted to introduce him/her to Firearms/shooting? I would think that a .270 is a bit much gun to begin with. My own inclination would be to start off target shooting with a .22or.223 calibre rifle and one the teen gets an eye in for shooting then progress up to a higher calibre for shooting game. The key is in good instruction.

  • When I was 10 my dad bought me a Ruger M77 270 which I took out target practicing. It kicked and the recoil was a bit overwhelming, but I killed my first deer with it at 11 And at twelve, it wasnt a problem. Plus it will drop adeer in his tracks so Personaly, I would totally get him the 270.

  • Your quite correct in saying about a .270 being able to drop a deer - but I would have reservations about beginning a youngster with this calibre only for the fact that once a flinch is developed from recoil it is hard to get rid off - thats why I would advocate a lesser kicker to begin with.

  • i am 15 and i shoot ither a 30-06 or a 338 i love those guns i have been shooting them since i was 10 it just depends on the 14 year old

  • I would say a .223 or .22 hornet. To start for a teenager, or even a .243. My first hunting rifle was a .243 killed deer with it when i was 9 doesn't kick at all

  • Thanks, leaning towards a .243 or maybe a .270 Win

  • If you are hunting whitetail deer, then go with the .270. The deer varies from which region you hunt. Southern deer will be lighter whereas northern deer will be heavier-set. A .243 is a good cartridge but play on the side of caution, a .270 will have more mass behind the bullet (though not much greater); it will take the deer down more humanely because of the added power.

  • I'd 2nd that. Good common sense advice I reckon.

  • In .22 caliber, would this be a good starter rifle for a teenager?
