o, and the new slr 722S model came in today for the pre delivery inspection, cost $550,000, has larger brakes, carbon fiber front lip, sits lower, is lighter, and onnly available to people who all ready own a slr, and yes slr's do sell well, there five slr's includeing the 722S in the service area at the day of this post. and whether or not the black series is faster, people can only guess untill top gear test it, there the only ones who do it right it seems.
Great information. I'm an intern at a Porsche/Audi dealer, the closest thing I've experienced to one of these was an S5, which was impressive but has nothing on this. I think the SL65 B.S. may go down as one of the greatest GTs of all time.
also, this sl has the same v-12 bi-turbo has all the other 65'S, but they buumped the horsepower up like 40 ponys, torque is the same and engine and covers are same. its just a shit ton lighter than regular sl's.
way more buetiful in person, it cost 299,000 befor tax ect. and comes with personalized box for car cover. much better value than slr, and has a ground clearance of less than an inch highers than a coke can. amazing but all the owners in L.A. are going to break the front carbon fiber spoiler cause its so low.

This has more power and torque than the SLR McLaren but it's also a good deal heavier so it's not quite as fast. Also I seriously doubt it can corner like an SLR. I test drove an SLR McLaren and I'm telling you nothing compares. It puts just about everything else to shame.
Let's see the black series is slower, it can't corner as hard, doesn't look as impressive, and has an inferior interior so it's highly doubtful that it's better. Moreover alexpkiewicz I once read where a Mercedes engineer said driving the SLR would change the driver forever. Now I know what he meant... and you don't.

I agree the ZR1 is very quick on a track but it's hard to live with on a day-to-day basis. The ride is very rough, a/c breaks down, gearbox is clunky and road noise will render you deaf. But I see your point it's also a nice car to have.

And the torque? Too much. Yes, there *is* such thing as too much torque!

no i work for mercedes of beverlly hills, every 6.3 amg has a dual wet clutch, and the transmission are 722.9, a nine speed automatic, sevens forward gears and 2 reverse, the 09 sl's come with the new NAG trans, whichs has what they call a small multiclutch, has less mas than a torque converter but is different than the wet clutch in the 6.3, and the 09 have race launch control now also.
most automatic transmissions have mulitple reverse gears, there just not used because its not practical. the 4t60E trans in general motors vehicles uses planetary gears to change the reduction in gearing, depending on what part of the planetary you hold, its changes the drive and driven. causing different reductions, although the second reverse isnt used on 4T60E, its capable of useing two reverses, not all automatic trans use planatery gears. hope this helps.
Every AMG car comes with an automatic. They just can't build a manual transmission that can handle the torque of their engines. I think it's bullshit too, but then again I'm not buying an AMG Mercedes.

ok, i will explain it to you. It's the fourth variation of this car. productvariations are expensive, so why the hell should they bring 5 versions when it's selling so well? tired of profits? take a look at well selling supercars: carrera gt,959, enzo, f40, f50. numbers of variations: 0 to max 1.

Nope, 5 Speed automatic gearbox. For now, the Dual Clutch Mercedes Gearbox is only available in the 2009 SL63.

no i work for mercedes of beverlly hills, every 6.3 amg has a dual wet clutch, and the transmission are 722.9, a nine speed automatic, sevens forward gears and 2 reverse, the 09 sl's come with the new NAG trans, whichs has what they call a small multiclutch, has less mas than a torque converter but is different than the wet clutch in the 6.3, and the 09 have race launch control now also.

most automatic transmissions have mulitple reverse gears, there just not used because its not practical. the 4t60E trans in general motors vehicles uses planetary gears to change the reduction in gearing, depending on what part of the planetary you hold, its changes the drive and driven. causing different reductions, although the second reverse isnt used on 4T60E, its capable of useing two reverses, not all automatic trans use planatery gears. hope this helps.

Every AMG car comes with an automatic. They just can't build a manual transmission that can handle the torque of their engines. I think it's bullshit too, but then again I'm not buying an AMG Mercedes.

Wow, just awesome,great design,you see the elegance and the power.The V12 sounds not so agresive like the SL63-V8-engine because it's a V12 but I think you can feel the power better, just hear like the engine inhales the air.What a dream, there are many sportscars but at the end, we see who is the uncrownded king in the business. What happens when BRABUS will get it in their hands...don't want to even think about it...but the costs...I think about 300.000 Euros.I want to own this!!!
