  • I intend to work 4 days a week instead of 5. I'd much rather spend less money and have a day off!

  • Hi there - thanks for your note and inspiring message too. Wishing you all the best with your downshift!

  • Very inspiring. Nicely put together. Excellent exaples. Easy to understand. Good length. But the soundquality is poor. Can you enhance the sound quality?...

  • Hi Maurice,

Thanks for your very kind compliments, glad you enjoyed it. Unfortuantely, the sound quality (and images) have been squashed to get on here and I cannot seem to improve them.

I hope you'll come back though, to have a look at the new ones I am about to upload to coincide with National Downshifting Week - they should be on by the end of February...!

    Cheers,

  • Hi Tracey,

That was a very quick reply! :-)

I am happy to hear from you. I do hope you will be able to impprove the sound quality. Ask for help. I was able to listen to

what you said, but if you want to reach out to more people who's English is not so good or to those who has problems concentrating -- maybe a tv set on in the background and kids screaming! THOSE can be the ones who needs to downshift, you know! ;-)

    Best,

  • Cheers for the advice!

  • I have to write a report on work/life balance and I've been stumped, but your video has given me a kick start and have some direction because of this. Thank you :)

  • Hi Unsoughtmeat - I'm glad it helped your lightbulb flash! There has never been a stronger focus on the work life balance in my view, what with all the finalcial market hoo haa going on. People are realising the importance of the most amazing commodity of all - time.

    Good luck with your piece!

  • Thanks for the video, Tracy! it was very encouraging. I believe more and more people in the U.S. are aching to simplify and reduce our consumption. But our culture of abundance makes it hard to switch gears. Your video definitely illustrates the impact individuals can make on helping their own lives and that of their neighbors. Thanks again!

  • Hi Yeni! Thanks for your note and glad you found some useful tips - help spread the word with your work!

  • thank you very much for this great video..I got some points to include in my essay :)

  • Thank you! Maybe you'll open an eye or two.

  • Hi USMARTINE, thanks for your comment. I've had some great positive feedback on this short film and am sure it's helping to chip away at the mass consumer culture we are still swamped in by positively encouraging 'embracing living with less'.

  • the main reason to downshift is to combat consumerism, "if i buy this i will be happy and whole", governments no longer rule the planet, big companies do and they play us for suckers. got to go now, nike shoes are on sale and i will feel better if i get them.

  • Hi there - thank you both!

    TS

  • Very inspiring! Way to go Tracey!

  • Nice video and ideas. Here is another idea... National Downshifting Year. When one such year ends, it is time to begin the next. One holiday after another! :--)

  • Love the sustainable living element! I am turning my business (an estate agency) completely green! Wishing you all the best, Mark - Novahomes

  • Very, very good!! ~applause

  • 'Conscious Consuming' is THE way forward - I see the 'green pound' playing a busy and incredibly influential role in the years ahead.

  • Thanks, Tracey. Your video is so great! You covered all of the Conscious Consuming issues; it's so great that our ideas are so "in synch", and that you're working on the same issues thousands of miles away. It gives me such hope!

  • Ah! Thank you!

  • Another excellent production by Tracey Smith. Keep up the good work!

  • Hi US, Thanks for your comment too!

I think with elevated public awareness of the widespread use of antibiotics/growth hormones/pesticides, going vegetarian OR encouraging people to purchase better quality meat but perhaps less often, offers interesting alternative options.

  • Or better yet, go vegetarian. Thanks Tracy, for the great ideas.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice one Tracey. Smart downshifting tips compacted into 3 and a half mins. Fantastic!
