Transformer movie is more like a kid who doesn't know how to swim and is using floaters to stay, well afloat. You take away the movie's computer generated graphics, and you basically have a crappy movie with mediocre storyline, at best.

American Beauty lured you in with depth and content, not impressive cgi scenes. It intrigued people and made them think without using sophisticated graphics.

Another movie like American Beauty is Life of David Gayle.

In short blunt: Lester's attempts to relive his youth are a direct result of his lust for Angela...sure there is much, much more to it than how I just briefly explained it but in short terms that's pretty much the gist of it. I also see what Angela represents in the movie symbolically however, it still does not make Lester's action excusable or justifiable.
