Hudson Was Not a Coward! More of just a Slacker! He was Done with the Royal Marines & Was Ready to Leave. He wasn't ever going to make General for any number of reasons. So when the Fight Was on He was Ready, Willing and Able to Kick Some Ass! As He'd done in the past in Previous Battles. When it was time He rose to the occasion & did the Job! Killing anything that was a threat was ultimately their Job. If they didn't do it then who would? The Relief Team? Due in How Many Weeks? Yeah!

I actually liked Hudson. To begin with he's just a smartmouthed wimp. But later he performs an epic act, which saves Ripley and Newt from the facehugger. Not to mention he stood up against the alien masses, till he died by being blindsided/outnumbered.
