  • Ja ja ja, that will not definitelly be an HP, share the experience dude, I have a slimline and it was headche until I removed all the extra software. Also Im technician and those are the most difficult computers to repair to bad that they are also cheap and because of that they are to common.

  • omg. this actually worked for my 5years old TX1000. although i know that this machine is going to die anyway soon, but i'm not going to let it die without trying anything at all. THIS WORKS!!

you've got to apply the pressure REAL HARD, almost putting body weight on it before it actually works. THUMBS UP for this frills free method.

  • Woooooooooooooooo man it worked just like magic thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is wrong with HP. Every computer has it problems. I have not used anything but HP and never will use. Dell, Gateway, Sony. Apple, Acer, ect..

  • I tried it after covering the air vents for 20 minutes with the power on. It worked first time!

  • "Definitely no a hp" I liked that part!

  • i dont get what you do. ive slammed my palm on the jkl and the power button like 20 times

    HELP

  • @danameskatxxx Don't slam it. You put pressure on them and hold until the power stays on.

  • cheers eemtek. iv had the same problem. pressed down on the keys as you said bloody hell it works..time to back it all up...a big thanks from jcbdiggers

  • I have the hp dv9000 SAME PROBLEM! I'm starting to think all the hp laptops are faulty this way. Anyway, I tried this fix but for the 9000's the chipset is about under the d button. It didn't work until I heated it up with the hair dryer first, then pressed down hard, then I took out the battery and put the laptop in the freezer for 1/2 hour to cool down. Works perfect now! Least I didn't have to pay someone to get my files saved!!

  • It is understandable that with the tx1k being so different problems might arise. BUT there is no reason the tx2k should have. They had time to make improvements.

What really gets under my skin is my TX1000 and DV6000 are registered with HP and they did not alert me to the Class Action lawsuit concerning these two machines. Now I find out 17 days after the deadline. I will not buy HP again if I can help it.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

  • i fixed my dv6700 with a micro torch and the reson the is the gpu needed to be reflowed is cuz it didnt even touch the heatsink!!! How can hp do such shit! So to prevent the problem from happening again i had to mod the heatsink so it makes contact with the gpu and now its been working fine for a week! The funny thing is that i got the laptop from a friend for free cuz it didnt work!

  • this laptop here gonna give me a heart attack one day. . i could be doung important homework on it, at any given time the screen could black out and il lose everything, got to the point i was sweating about the idea of doing anything important on this, i cant beleive i paid so much money for this BS, i fell in love with the size and how the screen moves, but wow it is a trash laptop, so many bad reviews on this one

  • HP makes good computers, even Toyota has some issues not to long ago. No one is perfect, but HP is better than Dell and many other crappy brands out there....

  • @GraveDigger0 even with this problem, i upgraded to the tx2 then the tm2 and love it.. not a problem after almost a year.. hp fixed their mistakes! they just stuck us with the ones they didnt fix back then.

  • Hi,

Woooow, what for a Trick. Good Job. I had this Problem one month ago and i've paid 50€ to solve it. But 4 Weeks after Repairing, i have the same problem again and with your video i could solve it. Wooow again.

    just thanks man

  • @kiarash7755 sad, but they probably fixed it with my solution? It is not permanent i can say.. once it starts, you can do this tricks a few times, but i recomend to upgrade.. When it dies, its gone..

  • this worked but i did it so much the jkl buttons or pushed down lol

  • With my current job situation (or lack thereof), it was a MAJOR deal when my Hp tx1000 didn't boot this morning. There is no way we have the funds to repair or replace. I can't thank you enough for saving me!!! Hopefully, this is the first and only time I have to do this. Shame on Hp!

  • @MissKiff1 lower your video resolution to help stop the problem from happening.. also make sure the blower doesnt get too hot.. good luck..

  • Thanks so much eemtek! My wife's tx1000 was dead and thanks to your tip I just succeded to boot. We'll do a backup right away! Thanks again for taking the time to share this!

  • Man, YOU ROCK!! my tx2000 was dead and THANKS TO YOU is back on again!! You're completely right...HP no more ever again!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH from Brazil!!!

  • what the fuck!!! it worked! THANK YOU MAN!!!!!!

  • @DsEnigma when I restarted my laptop the jkl trick doesn't work...what to do?

  • This is terrible advice.

You will damage the BGA pad, making a real repair more difficult or impossible.

There's a lot of bad advice online. Don't ruin your motherboard by doing these silly tricks. The solutions are temporary and will lead to other damage.

Precision Division in Florida specializes in laptop motherboard repair. Most repairs cost about $125 & you don't pay until it's fixed. Precision Division also modifies these systems so that they run cooler.

    Go to PrecisionDivision . com

  • @geeksarenotcool

let me guess, u own or work for this precision division in florida

  • @daderrty only if they would pay me good:) I made the mistake of working for uncle sam for 8 years and now suffer from taking anthrax shots. hoping to get well someday so i can get back into electronics..

  • my tx2000 would not turn on. Instead, the lights would light up for (literally) a second and just turn off. I would not even hear the system running.o i have same problem??

  • Wow that really worked for me! I agree im disappointed in hp for allowing this type of crap to represent them!!!

  • holly shittttttt it workssss, thanks so much. now i'll have to try the penny fix, even though i'm a little nervous about gutting my computer to get to the motherboard... ,

  • holly shittttttt it workssss, thanks so much. now i'll have to try the penny fix, even though i'm a little nervous about gutting my computer to get to the motherboard...

  • my tx1000 woulnt turn on at all so i did the other fix took out the mobo and used some $6 thermal paste a penny and a old soldering iron.. putpaste on both sides of the penny and set it on the gpu chip heated it with the iron for a few mins and pushed down on it till it cooled then used the penny as a shim the help the heatsink hold the gpu down. 3 days later still no problems so i can seewhere this might work a few times but it will eventually flex the mobo and make it worse.

  • That was fantastic! I have a tx2000 and this procedure worked on it.

  • thank you soooo much it really worked! look Im broke I got no money but I'll give you the only thing that I got "Jesus" he came to earth to save us from eternal punishment on hell because he love us, accept his salvation and believe in him and your family and u will be saved

  • Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't believe this really worked. Able to get my laptop working again and recover my files. I did have to block the vents like @usatraveleril said to do and it took a few tries, but I am glad to say it's working again.

  • I am very confused. I thought my 28 months old dead baby Compaq Presario F761us was killed by over heat problem (especially the touch pad quite hot). but now it seems GPU failure is caused by too cold problem. Anyone can explain it to me ? I even spent money to buy dust-remover to clean very very minor dust found in FAN. By someone suggestion to save the dead baby.

  • I can't believe it...this actually worked. Go figure. Thanks for posting this! Now, how about a permanent fix for this.

  • Will this work on my POS toshiba?

  • You are my savior

  • Gonna try this when I get home today!!

  • WOW i am stunned this worked!

Well i press HJKL, with my fingers.

  • The reason why this works when you press the j k and l buttons with the palm of your hand is because you are applying pressure to the back side of the system board where the GPU (Graphics Processor Unit ie. Nvidia chip) is attached via BGA (Ball Grid Array) very small solder joints to the system board.. over time the joints degrade with heat and age on the HP laptops for a DIY fix I have a video in my channel or .. you can always send out to a shop for re-Flow but may cost

  • @corbinse how could I see your video in your channel ?

  • @billemily100 search HP TX1000, DV6000, DV2000, DV9000 "No Video" Nvidia Chip Fix penny fix

  • wow! it worked on mine! i did what you said by pressing it in. I've been trying to fix mine for almost 1 month now. THANKS for this video!

  • I love you man!!

This works for me, I will never buy HP again..

    1200$ waisted :((

  • i love you

  • I Got A Question.i Dropped My Laptop a Few Days ago And Now it Keeps staling (Or keeps Freezin). Can anyone Help?

  • FYI u can remove the hard drive and put it into an external case to back up your data if this doesnt work..

or u can use the copper shim method if you are advanced enough to take appart yor tx1000

    i did it

  • this method wont work if your laptop is cold

you have to do it as soon as it shuts off in order to "resit the GPU"

most people will panic and go to another computer to search while their laptop slowly cools down

if they find the right solution then they will do as accordingly.

in the event that you laptop has totally cooled down after failure you may not be able to use this method.

your tx1000 will boot black screen and nothing more.

  • This worked perfectly! Thanks you so much for the video. Now I can use my presario f700 until I implement the permanent fix offered in the video "HP tx1000 no boot / black screen / motherboard repair" video which is 5:30 long and was uploaded by 'jasonshay2'. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the information it worked great I wanted to know how long this fixed lasted for you before you had to do it again? Thanks again.

  • This worked for me Thank You very much. How long did this last before you had to do it again?

  • Thanks for the fix it worked great. It did not work the first time but I blocked up the vents with a shirt and heated it up then applied the fix and it worked. Curious how long has this worked for you before you had to do it again? What are other people experiencing.

  • @usatraveleril hi, I had no problems with the computer because after it happens, you have to lower the video resolution.. i gave it to my son when i upgraded the the tx2. my son is a teenager of course and wants games, over the last year, i have had to do that 3 times, and had to actually open it and resolder the chip and redo the heatsinks.. it worked great for 3 months. 3 weeks ago, sadly it died when he was playing a game. I think he did something he will not tell me..

  • This worked like a charm!! you saved me a hassle of opening up my wife's laptop! thanks!!

  • @chips2481 please quit spamming on my site.. that's not cool.. if you would have asked i might have let you..

  • @chips2481 this is a trick for users that dont have to open up the laptop.. it is free of charge..

  • holy shit that worked.. wtf.. thats mad sick man.. thanks alot!

  • it works also on tx2000. i just did the trick. thanks mate.

  • WOW!!!!! This really worked. I was talking to HP customer service and they wanted to charge me $100 to booted up. Thank You.

  • these laptops fucking suck hp fucking sucks

  • omfg it work's!!!!!!!!

im 12 years old and i got my "new" laptop to work again ^.^

    I.O.U. $150.00 repair bill

  • worked for me, but only for a short time! I'm happy, though, since it pretty much diagnosed the problems, will have to take hot air machine to it now... thanks!

  • Hi eemtek. the heatgun and resolder the chip ,What temperatura is need to resolder the chip ?

  • @Micomanec 420 deg.. dont go over 450 or your chip might now work..

  • Worked for me too! Thanks! Had to try a couple of times. Worked when I actually stood up and put my bodyweight into pressing down. I am now backing everything up and shopping for a new laptop - anything but an HP!

  • WORKED LIKE A CHARM...thanks

  • Rock on, man. It worked for me.

  • haha great next time it goes out il sit in that chair and il rest my feet on the table like so for awhile, this is nick by the way, google this screenname

  • Awesome thanks for this!!

  • yah it works for me too... simply magic! just press down and yup it reallie works... :) backing up now on external Harddisk

  • This worked for me, i've tried heating the GPU with a heat gun and adding the penny and arctic silver 5, but it never worked!

Pressing the JKL keys (very hard) with the palm of my hand worked though, so I'm going to try the GPU heat again as this is clearly the issue! The GPU is not seated properly. HP are useless! My laptop just booted into windows using this trick - thanks!

  • Yes it does worked for me.. but i have keep it in towel for more than 5 hours. model txt1000

  • I tried this today holding down the JKL Key with my palm, and also wrapping it in towels neither process worked. Either this was a hoax or it just didn't work for me. Still looking for help with this machine. Anyone out there got any other suggestions?

  • sorry it didnt work, the laptop shown is now completely not working using this method.. I just have to dig out the heatgun and resolder the chip.. I posted this a few months back for people to recover their data and have something to use until they get a new laptop..

another thing you can try is to put your palm over the "l" to "enter" keys and put your other hand over it and give it a push the same intensity like you would on a cpr chest compression.. good luck

  • Thanks. I haven´t try this method but my gf has one of this computers with the exact same problem.

I´ve been reading and it seems it is very common thing in this model.

I really must say HP is extremly bad and super expensive for this type of quality.

Thanks, I´ll give you feedback as soon as I try your method.

  • @PastorMcK Your computer may be too far gone for this fix. Heat the chip, and use the copper penny trick. Maybe, just maybe you can squeeze out another year on the garbage.

  • @MITYFLEA actually gave this laptop to my son.. I bought a special airgun for smc's.. I heated it up to 420 for 15 seconds and then bent the heatsink to give a more downward pressure.. its been a few months and has had no problems..

  • Try This for about 2 hours with no results, decided to go with the towel, and that worked.. Just got a free laptop and i'm so happy..

  • I have the black screen on my TX1000 too. I tried pushing the buttons while turning the computer on several times, and while it came on, the screen remains black, sigh.

I guess I'll try that towel method next, and hope the towel doesn't catch fire! I'll post if it works or not.

  • That is quite sick but yes, it works. My sisters HP's screen turned black and a 5 minute googling gave the right answer. YOu might have to try tp push multiple times as we had to try to push (laptop was turned off) many times. I am not sure whether there is importance that while pushing the laptop has to be turned off but I got it like that working.

  • Excellent! This actually worked! I was going to dig inside for the motherboard and do a crazy fix to the gpu and then glue a penny to it, but I slapped myself to keep from going to the trouble and risking total loss. Thank you soooooo much for the amazing, quick, and least risky solution!

  • It works man !! Thanks a loooooot

    U r the best :)

  • 1- Turn on the laptop with the power cord connected

2- take 2 heavy towels and wrap the laptop in them with the laptop still running.

3-This causes the heat to build up and not be dispalced by the fans

4-Leave it running and covered for 30-40 mins

5-Unwrap laptop, turn off power and then restart

6-Thats all there is, works like a charm!!

was about to trough away my computer tried this in desperation and it worked...believe if you have same issue it will work

  • I have just done what stikies said. Unbelievable. It works. I even signed the online petition, and was starting to believe that I should pput my tx1000 in the trash. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Its a simple solution but logical, fight fire with fire. Well done stikies.

  • Comment removed

  • @stikies Holy sh*t man , You solved my Laptop problem !!! THANKS THANKS THANKS.

  • @stikies should I close the screen or leave it open and wrap the laptop totally ?

  • @stikies Ok, after I did your suggestion, it seems solve on/off, on/off..problems. 3 lights are hold "on" status, the fan is ON too, and can turn off as normal.

but the screen is still black.

I guess the worst thing is happened --either replace GPU or fire it by heating gun.

or press hard on "jkl" keys by some other suggestions.

  • I did this a few times now and my laptop doesn't works :S i press the JKL buttons with no luck :S any advice ?

  • Comment removed

  • It works for me!! Unbelievable!! You saved me from throwing it out!!

  • Hey i tried this like two times.. i pressed the jkl button and then powered on from the botom but it still has the black screen... Is it any serious damage on my laptop... Please please help me... What can i do?????

  • Try my copper shim rather then a penny or stock thermal pad. It is a perfect fit and keeps temps way down. Comes with thermal paste! Search for "tx1000 copper shim" on ebay.

  • After trying everything I could think if...THIS WORKED.

Amazing...you are some sort of genius.

    And HP, well...hahaha...

  • Way to go crack it works!!! i agree with the rest HP LAPTOPS SUCKS BIG TIME

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH MATE YOUR A LEGEND

  • Try my copper shims instead of a penny. It is a perfect fit and keeps your temps way down! Only $9 and includes thermal paste. Search for "dv2000 copper shim" on ebay.

  • oh Christ! That's unbeliavable! Still in shock!

    big thanks for that!

    (What computer shops know???)

  • Did this on my tx2000 and HOLY CRAP! IT WORKED!

I suggest whoever uses tx2000 to avoid using touchscreen.

Did you know the motherboard (which they want you to buy to 'permanently' solve the problem) costs RM1400??? It's expensive in my currency...

I'll NEVER buy HP ever AGAIN!

  • Excellent. This worked perfectly for me.

  • RESULT! Cheers again!

  • It works thank you x1000

  • hp sucks!

  • Thank you very much. I have definitely learned my lesson about HP.

  • can u tell me wat he said mi speakers are broken and i cant hear :(

  • hi, push down on the keyboard across the "jkl;" keys push down lightly then try to boot.. if it doesnt work, try a little harder and keep trying a little harder.. just dont get to the point you break your keyboard.. It works 90% of the time.. it has worked up to a few more months before major problems.. good luck

  • ooomgg .thnxx .this saved my lifee :O

  • I did not work for my hp TX1000. But thank you anyways.... :(
