A clever little math trick. My number is xyz, then I can rewrite it as 100x+10y+z. If I reverse, I get zyx, or 100z+10y+x. Subtract the two numbers, I get |99x-99z|. Factor out 99: 99|x-z|, so whatever number I pick, when I subtract, I get 99 times the difference between the last and first digits. If that difference is 1, you get 99, your final number is 99*2=198 and the trick fails. If the digit difference is any other number, you get 198, 297 etc., flip it and add and you always get 1089.
