Somebody has tried using some sort of steam power to get extra torque from gas-only engines, but for a hybrid it would be way better to just use a huge Stirling as the main engine, and electric generator / transmission / motors.
It can run on any kind of heat, even weird stuff like coal if you can get the heat to the engine.
Wow, it generates electricity! Your engines are very impressive, both aesthetically and from an engineering standpoint. It'd be great to learn skills to build devices like these.

You can run Stirlings on gas if you want, they're just more efficient.
