  • HE IS A DELIVERY MAN NOT A WAITER THEY GET PAID HOURLY WAGES

  • bad tippers get what they pay for.

  • Sign of the times. Instead of demanding decent pay for yourself or joining a union, you start demanding people pay you for services that they already payed you for in the first place. Then you whine about with an infantile tantrum. It's sheer insanity. You did 90 seconds of work for my $50 final bill and expect $10 off the top or the customer is an asshole. Go fuck yourself you morons.

  • @ped200014 Incorrect. Servers get paid half minimum wage, and their tips are supposed to make up the other half. If you fail to make full minimum wage per hour, the house has to make it up, but if this happens too often you will be fired.

  • @ped200014 Then you factor in how much of their tips are taken out by the house. At my last job, my boss took 9% in order to tip out the bartender, busboys, etc. You are not paying extra, you are giving them fair compensation for the services they supply, and it significantly more work than that. And keep in mind that servers do not just carry food, they have to juggle an average of 6 tables at a time, and everyone thinks they are so important.

  • @ped200014 Servers have to mediate between the kitchen and the customer, the customer and the boss, all while trying to get the minimum tip percentage. Try to keep in mind that people are ASSHOLES. Now imagine taking their shit with an apologetic smile on your face. Now imagine doing it for $3.50 an hour. YOU DO OWE SERVERS THAT MONEY BECAUSE YOU HAVE ONLY PAID FOR THE FOOD, NOT THEIR SERVICES.

  • Americans don't seem to realise that a tip is supposed to be fucking OPTIONAL. You don't have to do it if you don't want to.

In any other country, expecting to be tipped is just plain rude. As for me, I don't get the point of it at all, my waiter is already being paid by the restaurant and I'm supposed to pay the guy extra money just for doing his job?

  • What exactly is this website supposed to accomplish?

  • Why do you yanks HAVE to tip?? In Australia you only tip if you get great service, and even then the service giver doesn't really expect a tip. Silly yanks.

  • They sound extremely entitled.

  • I tip based on service. Not how the food tastes, because that has nothing to do with the server, but the way they conduct themselves and how attentive they are. I understand it's challenging if the restaurant is busy, but at least show me some effort and be pleasant. If I run up a 100 dollar bill but you suck, guess how much you get? About a dollar. If I run up a twelve dollar bill but you are amazing, guess how much you get? About thirty dollars.

  • Dude, Start at five dollars!

  • Tipping is completely pointless. If I want to give money away, I'll donate it to charity.

  • The Young Turks are bad tippers

  • al gore is a cheap tipper.

  • i used to carry our groceries in a hot ass parking lot for a sweet minimum wage of 5.15/hr.one day a guy gave me his change $0.08.i didn't get all emo about it and start a website, partly because it was 1999 and i didn't have the internet

  • Companies should pay actually wages, rather than seeing the fact that their workers get tips as an opportunity for them to make more money by cutting the wages. If they would pay the full wages, there wouldnt be so much pressure to have to tip, but for now while people are working for tip wages, tipping is the only thing keeping those people and those jobs a float.

  • D-bag is against this cuz he's too cheapp to tip

  • Im a pizza delivery driver and a most people are very nice and give a tip because they understand that thats how we make our money; we get a "tip wage" which is like 2.50/hr. But some people are so cheap or maybe ignorant that they tip absolutely nothing. I tip people well, I feel good about it and the people working those kinds of jobs need it. I just cant understand these people who tip nothing and dont give a shit. Some countries dont tip, but here we do, and ppl's wages depend on it.

  • @markvanslam so u want tips to be given to u just so you can give them away to someone else?

  • @geekforlifevandc You mean because I said I tip well? I mean, I make more money from tips than I give away as tips obviously. So I dont really get your point. I need the money, but so do others who work for tips, so I tip like many do and everyone should. If everyone tipped a little better it would go a long way towards helping people earn more of a living wage.

  • 20 seconds in the caption read, "Isis and clitoris areas"?

  • maybe this guy is a terrible waiter...

  • Guaranteed the guy hosting this is a bad tipper.

  • I tip if they deserve it. Then again, I live in CA where waiters get paid minimum wage. Now, minimum wage is hardly livable but you don't tip the person loading your truck full of Paving stones at the Home Depot. The idea of paying someone extra for walking out the food which they are already paid for dumbfounds me. However, if they go above and beyond the minimum then I tip them. I've tipped more than a meal before b/c my waiter rocked, earn your tip if you want it.

  • I'd tip the prick......right into the Hudson river.

Thank fuck I live in the UK. Here, you EARN a tip....it's not a right. You treat me like shit, you don't get a tip. Simple.

  • I don't understand tips. How much are you supposed to give? What if you only have a small bill? Why do you give the waiters/waitresses tips? Aren't they paid a wage?

  • @kirabook not in america, they're not. in america waiters live solely off their tips.

  • @llifton5

I know that now. My dad informed me further on how being waitress/waiter works

  • @kirabook that's great he informed you, and greater that you cared enough to ask. a lot of people don't care. my parents taught me when i was young and i'm thankful for that. they taught me how to calculate the percentage. knowing how to tip properly is very important if you plan of frequenting restaurants/bars.

  • @llifton5

I have yet to actually go to a restaurant and tip/pay for myself, but when my family goes to a restaurant, we tip higher if the waitress was very good. Or even friendly and fulfilled all our needs in a timely manner.

My dad said if the waitress if very poor, then he would tip them less, though he excuses them if the restaurant is busy. It would 'teach' them a lesson to be kinder. Lol. But the waitress would have to be really terrible.

  • @kirabook sounds like your dad knows exactly what he's talking about. that's exactly how he should be.

  • @kirabook the idea is to tip on a percentage of your total check. anywhere between 18-20% of the bill. if you have a low check, like $10, a 20% tip is only $2. if you're bill is upwards of $100, a reasonable tip would be between $18-$20. it's pretty simple. the idea being the more money you spend = more time and effort the server spent on accomodating you, therefore, the higher the tip. and the lower the bill, the less effort the server had to make. it's quite simple really. it's just etiquette

  • @llifton5

I can understand that. I still find it strange that they wouldn't be given a stable wage. My dad says sometimes they are, but it's very low and they rely on tips to make up and surpass the rest.

I would never want to be a waitress. It's too unstable and fickle.

  • @kirabook you're right, it is a bit odd we don't get a stable wage. it's just another way the restaurant industry can ensure they make maximum profit. where i work, i make $2.13/hour. after taxes my weekly paycheck is usually about 60 cents. haha. so i rely fully on my tips. which is why a lot of peole who wait tables get really upset when they get stiffed. it puts a numeric worth on your time. and when you get stiffed, it hurts and is upsetting. you're right, sometimes serving can be unstable

  • @kirabook money, but more often than not, it usually all equals out in the end. i find that when i add it all together, i make roughly 15-20/hour in tips. so i really can't complain. it's the only job i've ever had where i can potentially work for three or four hours and on a good night and leave with $250 in my pocket.

  • @llifton5

I personally really hate when customers come in and act super demanding and works the waiteress/waiters all night, yet they tip poorly. And I haven't even worked at a restaurant.

I think my dad might have worked at a restaurant before, but I'm not sure. I would have to ask him that too. Lol. I usually trust his word when it comes to these things.

  • @kirabook yeah, it's annoying as crap to have someone run you alllll night long and leave you a terrible tip. it's not even really the money that bothers me because i make enough of it to make up for that bad tip. but it's just flat out upsetting. it starts to make you wonder what you did wrong. that's the thing i hate about my job.

  • @llifton5

Most of the time, nothing is wrong with you. There are just too many jerks in the world.

  • @llifton5 Don't take it personal, you may do a fantastic job but that's just it ur doing your job. Me and my friends don't tip bc we r in school, and work minimum wage jobs that are not worth the pay (we don't have money to just give away....sorry). I used to work in a theme park doing gross trash collecting and cleaning ponds, walking the entire park in triple digit weather. The reasturants were not hiring, I would take ur job in a min, and not complain about tips one bit. my skin is fried.....

  • @kirabook Servers.. In restaurants are usually tipped 20% so for ever ten dollars you tip two dollars.. Servers are paid under minimum wage.. But because of that your food price is decreased.. Only because if the servers were paid say nine an hour.. The cost of food would go up.. Plus without tips.. Servers will do whatever they want and thats bad.

  • Clearly Cenk has never had to work for tips. Anyone who has knows full well the world is full of cheapskates who will tip nothing, or next to nothing, no matter how good the service they get. I've even had people praise my work to my face and still not give a tip, as if the compliment was enough in itself. Compliments are appreciated, but they don't pay my bills.

  • @1955RodHot

How much do you get paid an hour?

  • @simply2ghetto Nothing. I work for straight commission plus tips. No benefits, no vacation pay, no pension. So the tips count.

  • Do some people not get paid in the US? Why is there a need to tip?

  • @GloomFate minimum wage in most places in North America is not enough to survive on, and in many States and Provinces a "servers" wage is even less than the minimum for anyone else by law; so it is generally understood that servers and delivery people should be tipped to supplement their income. At some restaurants, the tip is automatically added to the bill, because too many customers won't tip no matter how good the food/service is.

  • Cenk doesnt like this cuz he's cheap I bet! I don't expect like amazing tips, but when people give nothing it's aggravating UNLESS I know I didn't do a great job. I work at a resturaunt and a coffee shop, and people will come through the drive thru (quick transactions) and will literally order dozens of shit, a box a coffee and NOT TIP! but then on the other hand there's the really great customers who will come in and tip like a dollar everyday! but this website is in pretty poor taste though

  • This is B/S... Sometimes I will leave CASH on the table for a tip, but pay for the meal with my credit card. Since I left a tip on the table, I won't write in a tip on the receipt. Which would make me look like i didn't leave a tip. EVEN THOUGH I DID. What if i got shitty service?.. I don't leave tips for shitty service.

  • fucking tumblrfags....get a real job or move to a country that pays you a respectable fucking wage, none of this 'tip' bullshit.

  • And also, I know that serving is a crappy job, but being a doctor or an engineer or someone who actually has to study and fight for that job is much more demanding and difficult, and yet, you don't get tips for the 10 hours of bad posture, unending stress, lack of exercise, monotony, etc etc. Or if you have a problem with intellectual jobs, how about garbage men? Do you tip them? They offer a service which may be more important than to bring you food. So don't harass others for not tipping

  • @laviskrg you are a ignorant dumbass..all those professions get paid good money. waiters get 2.

  • @karenc1023 Thanks for insulting me for no reason. In all those professions one works much harder and studies far more than waiters. I am not bringing waiters down, I have no issue with them getting paid more, but that should be discussed with the managers, not with the clients. There is a reason why there is a plethora of jobs out there and they all require different amounts of effort and preparation, and thus offer different rewards. And I'll insist that there are crappier jobs with less pay.

  • I'm sorry, but I am against tipping without a reason. If you are impressed, if you are genuinely pleased with the treatment, quality, etc, then yes, tip. I go to restaurants where I tip all the time, and to others where I would rather die than tip the stupid airhead who barely knows what's on the menu, who harrasses me the second I step inside, and who constantly throws me looks when I refuse to leave the second I finish my coffee.

  • If you have enough money to go out to eat, then you have enough money to leave a decent tip. Let's be real. Serving is a shit job. The least the patron can do is throw em some extra cash to go along with their 3.00/hr wage. As long as a server does their job well they should get a good tip. Anyone who says differently is a money grubbing scrooge, most likely self loathing and wanting to take it out on everyone else.

  • Damn, Cenk sounds like a cheap ass, $10 on a $100?!!?

  • the fact that this idiot had time to start a fucking website PROVES that he's likely an even bigger, lazier asshole when serving people.

when you take your sweet ass time bashing people, you take even more time serving them.

  • Glad Ana does all of her reports straight from Huffington Post. Saves me reading time.

  • Here's a tip: get a better job, you dumb fuck. Oh wait...

  • Tipping doesn't make any damn sense. If I pay 20 dollars for a pizza the delivery man expects 4 dollars. If I pay 50 dollars he expects 10 dollars. He hasn't done any extra work. I think it makes more sense to tip 1 to 2 dollars regardless of the amount on the bill.

  • @Phoboskomboa if he has to carry more he does. and often that tip goes into a pool that also goes to the chef. So yes, it does make sense.

  • @Phoboskomboa He has to carry more, and make more.

  • @Phoboskomboa Wait.... You're not supposed to tip delivery boys 20% lol... Servers you normally tip 18-20%.. Dear god.. If you tip a delivery boy ten bucks for a fifty dollar pizza...

  • @Phoboskomboa fuck u a hole some ppl dont even make min wage they live off tips dont be a fucking cheap jew and throw 5 bucks down for someone driving your fucking dinner to your door

  • @zabo358pure But they drive to your house and do the same amount of work whether you order 1 small pizza or 12 extra larges, with stuffed crust.

So why tip percentage wise thats just ignorant. Essentially its you tipping less because you decided to go cheap on how much pizza you wanted.

    Flat tip makes sense.

Though i usually do 5. But thats whether its 20 dollars worth of stuff or over 100. because its the same amount of work for them.

  • @Phoboskomboa don't be so mean. The more expensive the pizza, the heavier it is to carry

  • @Phoboskomboa Oops, I jus saw that other people already told u roughly the same thing. Ignore my earlier comment then ^^

  • I live in Japan and it is unacceptable to tip here. Really.

  • I seldom tip, but this sort of thing makes me want to tip even less.

Waiters and deliverymen, instead of being so brave about mocking the customers who tip too little for your taste, be brave to demand your employers a fair salary for your work, and let tips be a bonus, as they are supposed to be.

  • In Europe they don't really tip at all because waiters and delivery people are actually paid livable wages. How bout here in America instead of forcing middle class and poor to pay part of these people's salaries, we instead force the greedy corporations to pay their employees livable wages .

  • @grasd2 No offense but thats just not true. It's a misconception. I have family in the UK, in and around London, and a waiters/waitress often will make around minimum wage, which is about equal to minimum wage here. Much like here they make most of their money off Tips. If someone tried to live off being a waiter in London they would no doubt end up on some impoverished crime ridden council estate (housing project) somewhere in South/East London receiving welfare/benefits from the government.

  • Comment removed

  • @grasd2 But you also have to realize if that were the case the restaurants would have to charge more to make up for the salaries of their employees, and then you are paying the guy who spat in your food and ignored you the exact same as what you're paying the waiter who bent over backwards to make sure your every need was met and made you feel at home... Also I could see that over time waiters would become lazy with the mentality "who cares if I do a good job, I'm getting paid the same anyway"

  • @missnaomi89 those are some good points, you owned my comment

  • @grasd2 haha sorry I wasn't trying to top you or anything, I've just been a server for too long and I could go on and on about this topic, I do see your point as well though, I used to think the same way.

  • @missnaomi89 Thank you.. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

  • @missnaomi89 Thank you.. Thank you

  • Cenk: "Maybe thats why you didnt get a tip DICK!!" lmao hahaha

  • @DenimZero well no servers actually make less then minimum wage, but my point still stands, I'm not an idiot like this guy. I know the facts, I just dont want to tip so fuck you, 3 bucks an hour? sucks for you motherfucker.

  • I think from now on when I walk through the door, I'll just let the waiter know that im not going to tip him so he should spend time on other customers who are worth it, all I need from him is three things: write down my order, bring me the food, and bring me the bill thats all I need and thats what the salary is for, so no tip

  • @WarThug13 Oooor you could be a decent person and not go out in general if you can't afford the tip or won't be willing to give one. That would save even more trouble and free up tables for people who are a bit less boorish than you.

  • I tip over 25% for places I go to the first time unless they're utterly terrible. Then after that, I look for improvement of service and give accordingly.

  • whats the url to this site?

  • If you get bad tips. Improve your customer service skills and ask yourself...

    1) Do you think your customer wants to hear your life story?

    2) Do you think your customer wants to hear about your bad day?

    3) Do you think you could pay attention to their drinks?

    4) Do you think you could ask them how their meal is when their mouth isn't full?

    5) Do you think it's time for a job not meant for a high-school or college student?

So many more that can be added to this list...

  • here is a tip, nobama 2012

  • Its capitalism at its worst. We need money to motivate us to do something in the US. Other countries services do quality work because of pride in duty. Generally speaking. Props to anyone in the US that falls in the latter though.

  • @burneden

Did you know that the reason other countries don't expect as many tips, is because they pay their staff better?(and charge you more on your food to do it)

  • @KarateKidX they dont expect tips because its already added to the bill, either through wage or actually added on. But they point still stands that if their a crappy waiter or a good one they still earn the same. However most are really good, expect germany. <3 em but crappy service. Im not against tips. But if your going to give people the option, you shouldn't bitch just because they didnt give the tip you'd like. Im B&W. You get 20% for excellent service, $1 for bad.

  • Here in Canada servers make as much as any other minimum wage job which is $10.25 and many restaurants automatically add the tip into the cost of the food without telling the customer. On top of that people are expected to tip them. And it's also usually not taxed. So servers and bar tenders make A LOT of money here, comparing to many other jobs. So do I tip? Not a chance.

  • Ana's opinion: DISMISSED.

  • @ronj73 no you just like to give away money is all dumbfuck

  • @WarThug13 Not at all. I realize how things work in this country. I appreciate good service and am willing to reward it. Tipping is standard practice in the United States. Servers are paid significantly less than minimum wage BECAUSE it's a tipped profession.

  • @ronj73 sucks for them then, employers shouldnt expect me to pay their workers' salaries, I really could care less what the standard practice is, its my money and im going to pay for the food I dont need all the sugar coating and the please and thank yous, whens the last time you went to a restaurant simply because the waiters were nice? No you go there if the food is good, and all they do is deliver it from the kitchen, they dont deserve shit

  • @WarThug13 One way or another, you ARE going to pay the employee. If it ever comes to a point where a server's pay is actually nominal and paid by the employer, the cost of the food WILL go up at LEAST 15%. This way you'll probably be paying LESS for your meal AND you can control whether or not your server gets paid appropriately for his/her service. When is the last time I went to a restaurant because of service? Last night. If I get poor service from a restaurant, I don't go there.

  • tipping is fuckin stupid, if the job doesn't pay enough go find another one u lazy fucks, customers should not have to subsidize ur pay cheque, just suck dicks on weekends like responsable adults

  • @Malachai2012 Are you always this ignorant? Every purchase subsidizes employment, moron.

  • @Malachai2012 i hope next time you go out to eat that someone ejaculates on your food you scumbag

  • Chill out , I am a server and I was agreeing with you, did you read what I wrote? I am making that guy aware that I am paying him to serve him and he should not be proud of that. I then explained that its people like him who do not tip suck.

  • it can be different state to state but in my state most waitstaff make $5.85 (thats the legal min.) and have to tip out 15% of their SALES not total tips SALES to bussers/host/bartender etc. so basically they have to pay to wait on you if you are a shitty tipper and at the end of the year they are also required to pay taxes on their tips in a lump sum.

if you cant afford a decent tip get takeout

  • @trentWHY dickhead? lol great comeback

  • I dont like the "tips" thing at all.

Those people are just doing their job.

If a waitress or a hairdresser does more than just that for me i might give a tip.

Delivery men usually dont do that or is it different in the us

  • In case nobody has posted this yet, the brilliant opening restaurant scene from Reservoir Dogs. yt search:

    Reservoir Dogs - Opening Scene

The system is broken. If restaurant owners knew how much people avoid going to restaraunts because of the fucked up "moral obligation" to tip after a meal...I think they might be more successful to simply make the customer realize that the higher menu price means tipping is no longer ANY obligation to tip.

  • @ Solidus1086, Oh yeah America is different. Waiters get paid 2-3 dollars an hour plus whatever they get in tips. I have a waitress friend who just started a job, she made $60 bucks in tips on her first day, plus the $20 she made in hourly. On the weekends she makes between $150 - $300 in tips. And Minimum wage in my state is a mere $7.25, which is next to impossible to live off of. Factory workers get paid between $11 (Amazon.com) and $25 (Mechanics) depending on the services rendered.

  • many people dont understand most countries DONT tip. In some like Japan it's an insult. Not to mention the US american method of % doesn't make sense. Why tip a service that has no relation to how expensive your food is. Why I tip based on time. The longer I'm there, the longer they have to wait on me. (quality too).gratuity should always be added, if you cant do your job and cant provide good service, there are plenty of people looking for work that'll gladly take your spot.

  • @burneden So according to you, I would get the same tip whether or not you were a party of two, or a party of 12 because it was still only one hour of my time serving you? Why assume people cant do their job? And if this does not make sense to you, then why not live in Japan here it seems like you've figured their system out? If you live in the USA where you enjoy certain freedoms and protections backed by law, then follow the law and accept that our government considers this job as tips.

  • @vitondaysi actually i am moving to japan :D. But to clarify my statement was based on one person. So for two people x2, 12 = x12. Umm....your last statement makes no sense. There's no law that states there has to be tips. In fact (I assume you dont know what gratuity is) tips are pre-added to parties of 10 or more for many places. My mother's been a waitress for 30 years, your fighting an uphill battle.

  • @vitondaysi P.S. I dont think you read either. You argue for the benefit of making tips, money, yet I proposed that it automatically be added like most countries, which you then argued against.....So are you arguing for the "freedom" to NOT tip? One day people will only join convos they are knowledgeable about....one day....

  • @burneden If only we lived in an ideal world.

  • what people don't realize about tips is that resturants pay lesser than minimum wage to those who are batenders, waiters etc since theyre supposed to make their money of tips so in a sense they're entitled to it, or resturants should be forced to pay all workers equally

  • 20% tip? Fuck that

Over here I leave 50cents to 1€, regardless if I eat alone (12€) or go with friends (45-60€)

If they only give 2€ coins in change I don't tip at all. It's their job, stop being assholes about it.

  • tips on tipping :P

  • wherever i go i see people working hard at restaurants. it almost never fails. i could never not tip anyone. and i don't think tipping 15% is good enough. i do feel bad if i cannot tip what i feel is adequate. i also don't like to calculate precisely but round up based on the work done. if you don't tip SHAME ON YOU.

  • Waiters/Waitresses make WELL below minimum wage. My sister is lucky to work at a marina that will make up the difference to equal minimum wage if the tips aren't good enough.

  • Whole idea that I should give a tip for someone for doing their job is just an alien concept for my scandinavian mind.

I do my work and get salary from my employer, so do the waiters and all other service professionals.

  • tip 20%...GOD wtf is up with America?!?!??! Dont they pay employees enough?

    why 20%????

  • cus the idiots don't know that waiters and waitresses around the country get paid the standard waiter hourly pay of 4.23 an hour,

  • Isn't the Stained Apron website still up? They've been doing this kind of stuff for more than 10 years.

  • I just wanted to remind everyone that in most of Asia tipping isn't used at all. So a system without it is possible. I've known family members and other Americans who have been chased down by servers to give them their money back.

  • Tipping should be optional but people should think about the fact that servers aren't paid minimum wage because it's expected that they'll earn money with tips. Leaving a tip is simply the polite thing to do especially if the service was good.

  • @DenimZero Minimum wage in Florida is 6.50. BUT! That does not apply to waiters which the minimum is 3 dollars.

  • servers make 2.15 an hr. I currently am a full time waiter and I try to do my best hoping that people recognize my hard work so I can make more money...ya know kinda like how capitalism is supposed to work? But still people ignore a smile, a kind word and excellent service and leave me nothing...this is NOT ok. It is a "trickle down effect" to failure. Why do you think the national debt is astronomical? answer is greed. Not paying what is due. Not seeing the quality. We make excuses to ourselves

  • @thomassaulsbery4 in a capitalist system, the buyers determine what goods and services are worth, not the providers of the services. so even if you bust your ass to please the customer as much as possible, they can still determine that you didn't work hard enough to meet their standards, so they won't tip you. that's how capitalism works, you are subject to the will of those with money, so you're never guaranteed to be recognized for your hard work.

  • we dont tip in europe..

  • I generally tip in the 15 to 30% range. But quality of service does factor into it big time. On a few occasions, I've left no tip. Other times, I've left a tip that was closer to 50%.

    How clean is the restaurant?

Is the waitress more interested in customers, or texting?

Is the service time appropriate for the number of people in the restaurant?

Is the food any good? (Proportional to the type of restaurant it is)

  • In the movie Casino royal when Bond tips the card dealing guy 500,000 dollar, that was an epic tip.

  • All this tip leaving bullshit is a major reason why people don't care to use services where the customer has to make some moral choice about tipping in the first place.

If I have a couple of extra dollars to tip, you'll get the money. I wish I could tip you three dollars for breakfast...I'm not giving you a five dollar bill! If you can't understand that, f-off.

Cue opening scene from Reservoir Dogs.

  • I work at costumer service... our company does not allow us to take tips

  • This chick in the link below should be on the front page of that website

    youtube.com/watch?v=v6pi-9LBtxs

  • I bet most of you idiots commenting on here think it's the server's job to wipe your asses too, huh?

  • Wow, I can't believe the selfishness of the comments here. They get paid half of minimun wage and the rest of the pay is supposed to be made up of tips. If you don't tip them they make 20 dollars for a 10 hour shift. I didn't realize so many selfish republicans watch this show.

  • @KMAsKorner This is just what I was thinking (minus the small repub jab). I bet most of these commenters believe its the server's job to wipe their asses too.

  • @KMAsKorner No, your boss is a republican which makes you make up ur minimum wage with tips. BTW: Dont talk bullshit, noone in america earns 0.50 cent an hour. Even volenteers get at least a dollar.

+ When i was 14 i earned 3 bucks an hour for delivering spam

  • tips are stupid. maybe you "servers" should come together and demand a decent wage out of your employers instead of begging the customers to feel sorry for you. you took the job paying $2.15hr so deal with it.

  • @sjdamier well maybe you should fuck off and tay in your basement, since we in service do more work than you will ever do

  • @Marika50 whatever, i used to work in the industry so spare me the we work hard routine.for every bad tipper there are half a dozen decent ones.ppl arent obligated to tip you their mortgage after some shitty meal.TBH you really arent that necessary.ppl can get their own trays of food and refill their drinks without you in their face every five minutes bugging the hell out of them while they eat.youd be better off demanding a real wage instead of trying to embarrass ppl about their tips.

  • I don't get why the servers get tips. They don't do anything to deserve a tip, It should be the person slaving over your food that deserves the tip.

  • @SwampThizzle Not even close.

  • @theoriginalKland Just know that they are spitting, or worse, in your food, cheapskate. Understand that. When they see you walk in that door, you've just made their day, you stingy bastard.

  • @SwampThizzle Not even close, yet again. Also, it's hard to spit in food that's already been eaten. I don't know about you, but I generally tip AFTER a meal.

Understand this, I probably tip better than you'd ever dream of, if the service is right. If the service is sh!t, then so is the tip. That's the whole point of tipping, it's a service evaluation and IMO also not obligatory. Having the tip already included just means there is no incentive for them to give you great service.

  • @theoriginalKland If you never tipped in the past, then the staff will assume that you will be stiffing them yet again. So even if you do decide to tip this one time just to fuck with them a little, that they still are going to be spitting or worse in your food for as long as you give them business, genius. Plus, you'll have it coming to you.

  • @SwampThizzle What are you so angry about. Who said anything about not tipping? Are you even reading my comments?

If a place gave me service that was so bad it didn't warrant a tip, trust me, I'd probably never eat there again.

  • I tip 20% because the math is easier.

  • @dmc31400 just double the tax, if it's 8%

  • If i spend 40$ at a a steakhouse il give u 3-4 bucks

  • In some countries, it's considered rude to leave a tip.

  • tip for what?...doing your job?

  • @remixnick Fine, YOU Try and see how you can survive making 3.50 or less, becuase thats typical of the rate that waitstaff gets WITHOUT tips. Plus bear in mind tips are also parsed out to the kitchen staff and the busboys as well.

Its kinda like you doing your job and then getting 1/4 of your wages because the customers felt that your labor going into the product or service wasn't worth anything.

  • @PTKilowatt If people work as waiters/waitresses that's their decission. Members of the public can't be held to ransom on tipping just because waiters/waitresses don't get paid 'enough'. Laborers are known to get shitty wages sometimes...do they get tipped?...no.

It's not like doing your job and getting 1/4 of your wages. I would think waiters/waitresses are aware of how much they are getting paid before they take on the job. I do tip, but I don't think it should be EXPECTED.

  • Lmao usually it's black people who don't tip.

  • I work my ass off.. no ones tipping me at work!

  • You should tip, or dont go out

  • @greyland666 why they get paid for the job if they make it a better experiance then i tip not if they are just like evryone els

  • @greyland666 You should demand to be paid fairly, or don't get the job.

  • i only tip when im happy with the service and have assisted me in some way , so i dont think there is such a thing as a bad tip cos no tips means people think you stink, so ..

  • Servers make $2.13 an hour, we rely on our guests to tip accordingly. So its really frustrating to give outstanding service just to get a lousy ass tip.

  • @Bullcity75: Here's the problem though. It's a broken system. When it's slow you guys are getting killed working for $2.13/hr. But when it's busy you are all compensated much more than you probably should be, no offence.

I go to a bar regularly and I'd estimate that most tables rack up about $15/hour on drinks. I once saw my waitress work 14 tables at one stretch. I like my waitress, but at 14 tables, $15/hr, and 15% tip that comes to $31.50 in tips/hr! Way too much for waiting tables.
