Higgins Boat at the WWII Museum, New Orleans

Original parts came from 3 or more different boats. Lake Pontchartrain is only 13-15 feet deep/ salvage would not have been an issue. A boat that had sunk at it's dock (maybe in the 70's?) was salvaged. it was missing parts so it was probably stripped prior. Only wood below the mud had escaped rotting. The entire bow ramp door came from California iirc.

Hi, emorevan20. Visitors are not allowed to walk around on the various pieces of military equipment on display. It's a great place to visit, however.
