  • LL's London version is not as good as Kissin's. LL plays it safe and slow, while EK plays with reckless abandon - especially in his 1997 version at Royal Albert Hall. Never a better version played!!!

  • @marinoandtanya Cziffra's version is quite perfect aswell

  • Standard version here as we ever knew. Now, see Lang Lang version IN LONDON ( dressed on Black ) he achieves perfection in all senses.

  • @Dihelson OBJECTION

  • really beautiful, excellent playing, I saw him live, he is the best of all the young pianists!

  • It seems Kissin doesn't use Prince's technique.

  • Zou abmsghost1 zich hier niet vergissen: was dit niet een boer Charels uitspraken ?!

  • And don't forget the profound words of the worldfamous farmer Boer Coene:" Petaatche ,ieder zin wijsheid.De menschen zin ni slechte weeje mor domme!!":-)

  • @bastien31000

Only one 'no thing' is True: Awareness, which has no form, no matters, no weight, no time, no space...

Music isn't but a distraction, coming from this totally useless and imaginary world, to keep it (read: energy, which isn't but desire) alive...

    A cordial greeting,

    G. Dehoux, ex music addict.

  • @geertdehoux explain me in detail what are your arguments and what is the idea that you make known

  • @gildardo801

    A la orden, dotor!

  • nice

  • it's Paganini, not Liszt, he himself says so... Liszt did the piano arrangement

  • @carnobau He said Paganini - Liszt, which means that it's composed by Paganini and arranged for the piano by Liszt..

  • @carnobau

Because Francy didn't have a guitar at that moment.

  • Why is the ending cut off? Can you repost with the complete video? Thanks!

  • @geertdehoux Distraction from what exactly?

  • @Vorotur

    From the Truth.

  • Music, as this whole illusionary world, isn't more than a useless distraction.

  • @geertdehoux you are crazy arnt you? MUSICS AWESOME U IDIOT

  • @3101paulkim

Del Pueyo said to de Staajort en 't janneke: "J'ai connu beaucoup de fous que avaient raison!"

So, perhaps I'm not the "crazy" one and "idiot"...

  • @3101paulkim

    qui, pardon.

  • he hits the piece in all the right places! Truly an artist!!!

  • @cuteshox

Thai girls say: "Cold hands, warm heart!"

Farang lou says: "Warm hands, warm p...!"

  • lovely!

  • 명진명진 위명진 선생님

  • his hands look like a flopping fish - is that what good technique is supposed to look like? (serious question)

  • @sirshitsalot007 if i'm interpreting your question accurately, it is beneficial to play with relaxed wrists (especially with pieces that have fast tempos). Tension in the muscles inhibits the ability to play at faster speeds and is detrimental to the physical well-being of your muscles in the long term.

  • @RufioRouge

    Very well said!

Dhr. Jacob van Tuik wouldn't do better!

  • @sirshitsalot007 ummmm listen to him. That's what phenomenal technique sounds like. As far as textbook "technique" Horowitz and Gould had "bad": technique but were two of the best ever.

  • Horowitz and Gould "bad technique"???? laughable..... though they were astounding _musicians_ whatever their eccentricities.... Rubinstein often changed the fingering ON STAGE, as did Horowitz.... try that!! Perhaps that's what appropriately-named is referring to....

  • @sdorr You misunderstand...Horowitz played with flat fingers (considered "wrong") and Gould sat so low at the piano that his shoulders were practically level with the keyboard. Both had monstrous facility in spite of their "improper" technique. My point was that it does not matter what the pianist "looks" like while playing, only what sound is produced.

  • @tombennettpiano

    Music is not important.

"Music is only music", placht mijn trouwe vriend Broeder Ludo Zaliger mij indertijd te doen inzien.

Hoewel ik mij hierdoor ernstig beledigd en misbegrepen voelde, zie ik nu in dat deze wijze man gelijk had.

    Gegroet,

    G. Dehoux.

  • @sirshitsalot007

Arcadi Volodos said in Braunschweig: "There isn't anything like a bad technique!"

    Denmuttenmornekiejernor...gon!

  • I love Evengy Kissin's performances, he is truly excellent, but I really don't like the trills he does here. Those notes are meant to be sounded out more

  • INCREDIBLE!!!

    But, honestly, I prefer Lisitsa

  • @Hobott

    La femme fatale ?

  • Brilliant technique but too fast.

  • comprendo que el hombre del 3:06 aplauda, con razón lo hace, aunque moleste... xD

  • Mi piace tanto questo modo di suonare brillante e pulito

  • @nonnopirro52

E di suonare tanto di piace pulito ?

  • i guess when you're this good, you don't have time for haircuts

  • @nowayitskevin - THIS is the best comment.

  • Lang Lang is lame lame.

  • @mrbig4050

    Male male ?

    You mean: boy-boy, not boy-lady ?

  • Arthur Rubenstein's rendition of La Campanella is my favourite. Check it out peepalz :)

  • @tapaddtiiiii Arthur Rbenstein never played La Campanella. The video you're talking about is someone else.

  • @tjtheplay Whoa..really?! Well whoever played that version was amazing! I loved it! Any idea who it might be? There are 2-3 videos on Youtube.

And hey btw how do you know A.R. never played La Campanella? Where did you read that? Just curious. Thanks for the info. :)

  • @tapaddtiiiii I don't remember where I read it but he said that he never recorded him playing La Campanella.

However, it is a pretty good interpretation.

  • @tjtheplay

Rubinstein's daughter once invited me to play concerts together in Brasil.

  • @geertdehoux Really!

Did you accept her offer?! Lucky!!!

  • @tjtheplay

She died after she had met me...

Do you think this is NO co-incidence ?

    :-)

  • @geertdehoux haha lol

  • could have more expression (he was quite young)

  • A great master.

  • So cleanly played! Kissin's technique is amazing.

The hairstyle (style?) has GOT to go!! He looks like a paintbrush!

I wonder who the nob head was that shouted out (3.06). Moron!

  • it s amazing, you may like kissin or not, but after searching the web for something getting close to this (lang lang, trifonov, any ideas...??), you just get to the conclusion such a thing doesnt exist, we guys are lucky to live at the time of the greatest pianist ever on earth...i think even liszt himself wouldn't have slept for weeks if he heard and saw that...

  • This, is true virtuosity.

  • I think that this kid with his birdy nest hair style, plays like an angel, so fine, so tender, he is marvelous and so elegant. lang Lang is something else, cannot compare.

  • @enaralva langlang mves too much

  • @Citroion68

    Do like Elvis: say: "Still!"

  • It simply doe not get any better than this rendition.

  • lol 3:06 :)))))

  • Lang Lang, and all the rest of them for that matter, know how to begin all the notes of this piece well enough, but Kissin knows how to end every note. He always puts the perfect temporal value on each note. In my mind I picture the notes of the piano as threading of some sort, and the air as fabric. Kissin always mends the air with the tightest weaving.

  • The guy who yelled in the middle of the performance sounded EXACTLY like Boris Yeltsin. Seriously. Look up the video "Boris Yeltsin's Finest Moments" and go to 1:02.

  • This is not Saint Petersburg Conservatory, this is the great concert Hall of Moscow's Conservatory. Amazing Performance!

  • I can't believe someone shouted in the middle of it, and this is at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. That's something that would happen in America (I'm American).

  • @MrStrav81 insane people are everywhere

  • @MrStrav81 sad but true

  • @MrStrav81 Depends on the audience, most performances i go to in America people are well behaved, if it was shown in a free public display, then yeah there would always be those group of guys who think its funny to disrupt.

  • @TheMagicBolt

It's not a matter of them trying to be funny, it's a matter of them being stupid. I've been to several concerts at Orchestra Hall in Chicago where phones started ringing, people started clapping early, people nearby started snoring, etc.

  • @MrStrav81

A male fan shouted: "You're the FIRST IN THE WORLD, Elvis!!"

    "Without a microphone!"

  • @MrStrav81 You clearly haven't done much world travel. The further east you go, the more 'interactive' audiences can be. In the Middle East and China, it's quite normal to applaud after sections of one song/piece.

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno

Um, clearly I haven't. However, I think there was a feeling of awkwardness in the room when the guy shouted. You could almost hear the people turning to look at him.

  • I love you, Evgeny Kissin, you made me love piano

  • @Lamonstres

The legendary 't janneke said: "Eèpshhtnekwafeurkanfambroekfrandere maaar eupsht nepjanistkanniffambroekferandere!"

  • Oh my god, I cannot find a word to describe this amazing... wonderful interpretation

  • Daaaayyyyuuuuum!

  • @unicursalhex

    Is this Korean language ?

  • @geertdehoux Its negro language

  • @unicursalhex

    Swahili ?

  • No sweat dripping and no hair hair falling! Hahaha! I love you, Evgeny Kissin! ^_^

  • I guess the guy at 3:06 couldn't wait to applaud!

  • @Jlan0151738 LOL

  • A rare gem! Thank you for posting. What year was this?

  • All these lovely Kissin videos make me really happy! :)

  • @chobeethaninov

    All you need is love.
