  • @Smartboy8877 no i was referring to the 1 dislike. You know this ad is all about Holden, so 1 person disliked cause they must have a FORD

  • @trulymeparker

Oh, no I understand! Thank you for clearing that up for me!

  • Im australian and those rotten holdens arnt my favourite car thats for sure.

Whats funniest, is that australians actually think holdens are australian cars!!

try google searching opel omega you bogans!

  • @restoremaz do ya reserch properly dik

  • @4568shannon maybe you are the one who needs to research...type into google the words "opel omega" and see how australian holdens are.Holden commodores here, are last years opels in germany...go research dick!

  • @restoremaz People know Holden is an American multinational.

No need to put people down.

    The VE is Aus designed.

And the Falcon is basically a constantly updated xk falcon.

All part of being a multinational

  • The commodore has always been a german car right from the begining. google search opel omega.

  • @restoremaz Not since the VE, as stated.

Opel does not have a rwd platform anymore.

And mazdas are Ford under the skin, big whoop.

  • 70s? So that WB is actually a time machine. Cool!

  • I LOVE

    HOLDEN

  • 1 person owns a Ford

  • @trulymeparker

I believe that Ford Motor has or at least had at least one factory in Australia. Is that where yours was made?

  • The last golden era of life in Australia.... RIP

  • THUMBS UP if you think iJever sucks.

  • THUMBS UP IF JAMIE SENT YOU HERE <3

  • Thumbs up is iJever sent you here

  • jamie sent me here. lol

  • jamie laou sent me here ;D <3

  • I noticed a cigarette logo at the football game. It then appeared painted on a truck driving by. It has been years since anyone could get away with such a thing is this country! Does anyone know what the rules are like in Australia these days?

  • Love this nostaglic 70's ad but I wish they had shown some rugby league footage instead of the afl (or vfl as it was known then) from the 70's especially the Manly sea eagles as they won 4 premierships in the 70's. Other than you're not australian unless you like football, meat pies, kangaroos and HOLDEN CARS.

  • @hsvrich7 Rugby league isn't Australian. It's a third-rate English sport that even the English ignore.

  • @mgo26 Are you real aussie or just some pom who likes to insult us real australian's about our love of holdens and rugby league. Yes I know holden has been under the gm banner pretty much since day dot but the holden engine company originated in south australia and in my heart will always be australian. As for your comment about rugby league I couldn't give a stuff how little it rates in england but it rates very well especially in NSW. We have more than football code in oz.

  • @hsvrich7 You love a British sport and an American car, whilst I am a devotee of the only native Australian game, yet somehow you manage to tag me as a 'pom'. Do you have a coherent argument, or are you just inviting me to call you a semi-literate moron?

  • @mgo26 You are a real charmer aren't you mgo26.! I always believe that if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all but in your case I make an exception. You missed my point from my original message. The ad was obviously made in victoria so they had afl or vfl as it was known then. I only wished they also made a similar ad in nsw where they could have had some footage from league from the 70's. I really takes a big person to insult people over a computer screen.

  • @mgo26 there's enough cyber bullies already over the internet mate without you adding to it. Have a nice day!

  • @hsvrich7 there always has to be one nobhead who trolls popular clips on youtube....

  • From at least 1980 with the WB ute in it.

  • any one who poo poos this commercial should get in thier prius eat a asparagus n salmon tartlet with sea salt foam on the way to sycronised swimming wearing a t shirt with a sparrow on it . knobs

  • 0.04... wtf is going is on there?!

  • Kill me.

  • I miss this australia before we became overly muticultural and americanised

  • I'd guess this version is from about 1980 - there's a WB model utility, a VB Commodore and a TF Gemini (WB was launched in 1980.)

  • THE 1980S RULE

  • @vhcommy 70s actually.

  • what's that commercial at the beginning with the car and that clunk sound?

  • @wilson809isback i don't know... i would have to go through my 100 DVD of old Australian ads in order to find it.

  • @wilson809isback The car at the beginning of this ad is a 48/215 (FX) Holden ute.

  • @McGra61 Thanks!

  • i'm an aussie, iHATE MEATPIES!

  • Wow, that horse must have been extra tired when that 700lbs man went on it

  • FOOT BALL MEAT PIES KANGA ROOS AND HOLDEN CARS!!

  • lmao this shit is funny as well

  • Lawsy's doing the voiceover work right??

  • wow at 0.28 or 0.29 that guy on that poor horse had as what i call it "JELLY BELLY" Eat the fatso!

  • wow interesting, i was young when this came out, it features the vb commodore which was released in 1978 so i believe this commercial started airing that year, i was 3 :P

  • I thought Australian meat pies were square, not round.....oh yeah and with tomato sauce on top.

  • ads in the 70s are really crap

  • yeah right meat pies by law in australia can contain 25% of other(other being absolutely anything from anywhere)kangaroos are best when shot and holden have been american since 68 its just the fact that its in australia that makes holdens australian these days truthfully they are as australian as chevrolet even this advert is a direct rip off from the states but in the states its apple pie baseball something i cant remember and chevrolet.

and nothing is unaustralian we let any piece of shit in

  • @560287144602817 If you want to get technical, Holden's been "American" since 1931, when GM first bought them out, and they'd already been building bodies for Ford and GM for about ten years at that point.

But you should be proud of Holden! They build great cars. There's a reason this yank loves Holden and Ford Australia: Australia still builds real cars, not like most of the underpowered FWD garbage we're forced to drive in America. About all we have to be proud of any more is the Corvette.

  • It is interesting to note that the "football" scenes shown are from Australian Rules games which would have annoyed anyone in New South Wales a the time because Rugby League was king in this state when these ads were shown.

Is it unAustralian to dislike meat pies? I don't mind Kangaroos and I drive a Holden.

  • @theaussiebackflipboy, in case you've been living on Mars, rugby league is still the dominant sport in New South Wales.

  • @GhostsnGoblins Australia lost its way when racist arseholes like you were born.

  • @GhostsnGoblins Mate, it's a cheesy commercial that we're watching for a laugh or a bit of nostalgia. It shouldn't be taken as a serious declaration of 'Australian-ness'. If anything it demonstrates how poor we are culturally: okay, football and kangaroos are ours, but the car is American and the meat pie is British. And I have no idea what the 'Aussie way' is, or what any of this has to do with Kevin Rudd!

  • @mgo26

You refer to the car as American. However, it is my understanding that Holden's were made in Australia. At least they were when this ad was made. Care to explain.

  • @Smartboy8877 They certainly are made in Australia, but Holden is a company started and owned by General Motors. The profits go straight to Detroit, just as they did when this commercial was made.

  • @mgo26

Now I understand. Having lived in Austrailia, I know that a lot of the the things there are made in factories that are owned by companies headquartered in the United States, England and countless other countries. At least it gives jobs to some of the people who live there. Even if they are of Greek or Turkish decent!

  • @Smartboy8877 Holden has been owned by GM since 1931. The profits got to Detroit. Explained enough?

  • @mgo26

    You certainly have explained enough!

  • @Smartboy8877 Holden has been owned by GM since 1931. The profits go to Detroit. Explained enough?

  • @Smartboy8877 holdens are based on chev ,vaxhaul and opel bodys. No holden has ever been australian. Its just the marketing name for GM here in australia.

  • @restoremaz The VE commodore was designed in Aus.

The mid 50's to the late 70's ones were aus designed too.

Anything wrong with being a multinational?

  • @restoremaz And ford own a share of Gook Pack mazda.

Who copied the rotary from NSU.

Not like the Japs have ever had an original idea anyway.

  • cant get any more Australian than that!

  • i want this car as my ringtone haha what the song actually called

  • asustrlian needs to remake this ad

  • Yeh Trevor Barkers speccie mark would have been early 80s as well

  • HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • i would imagine that this is 80's early 80's cos of the 1982 VH in the add :)

  • Didn't notice the VH but I did notice a few VB and VCs, and Gemini and Isuzu ute... An interesting approach of Holdens simply to slot in shots of early 80s models into an advert originally introduced in the mid-70s...

  • Love this add, still sing it to this day.....

  • thats funny about the horse it surely is hey.

  • That poor horse at 0.29 is getting quite a workout.

  • @GrubcoTV3 lmao
