@cepomwa There are several great books on a sport called shutzhund that will show you step by step how to train a protection dog but the best book I found is one called "Manstopper training a canine guardian" by Joel mcmains. Hope this helps

@hohohee1 hey, your dogs only 8 weeks so dont beat yourself up over it. Focus on sit if he doesnt do it make him then praise. Then you can work on shake and laying down after that. If you need help i can help you or you can watch some videos... Look the word sit up in german mine listens to that better then english

@hohohee1 ok mine had the same problem. He's just going through his teething stage. What i did was distract him with a toy or bone. If that doesn't work and he still persists to want to bite you smack him in the nose and give him a firm NO!!! He needs to know whats right and wrong. You may be thinking i dont want to smack him, but just realize what he is gonna become. These dogs can turn very ugly without the proper guidance. Hope that helps :)

@freeman38854 k this problem is somewhat fixed .. and its ears went straight up .... today ..... after one day .. amazing ! it was floppy the other day .. My last question so far is .. it's been eating its poop .. like one of its droplets of poop .i tell it to stop .. and it still does ocasionally . how can i fix this! i tried giving it a pinmeapple cause i heard this is a good strat but will it stop eating its poop when it gets older ?cause i dont want it to be a POOP dog .(i know its normal)

@hohohee1 idk if you get my reply but my dog used to eat his poop and deer poop. All i did was walk with him tell him no and then rip it out of his mouth, but i also dont let the dog out of my site since i dont have a fenced yard

Wow, he has beautiful, pale eyes. My Chance's eyes are more of a russet, golden color. Sam's reminds me of a husky or a Malamute's. Gorgeous. You can see them very clearly at 1:08. Great-looking dog you've got there.

He is a very, very handsome dog! We have had 5 sheppies in total (4 at one time) and I miss them sooo bad. One of ours had a hip replacement at 9 months as she had hip dysplasia but went on to live a full, happy (and very spoiled) life to 13 years. They are the most lovable dogs. :)

@lakersforthewin GSDs are the poster child of hip dysplasia because BYBs don't give a rat's a** about the health of their dogs, and a lot of people buy from horrible breeders because they sell them at a cheap price. I believe that you get what you pay for from a breeder. When you pay $1,500 or so for a dog from a reputable breeder, you're paying for the titles, the health checks, the stable temperament, etc.

Start straight away!!! The quicker the better. And use plenty of treats that are easy to swallow, or they'll choke heaps like Sam does!!! Never get angry, just prasie when they do it right!!! Good Luck!!!

Sam now weighs about 30kg. He's a big dog in comparison to many others. When he stand up, he reaches up to my shoulders (i'm 183cm)!!! I would love to see yours though!!!

Inside or out? Coz Sam isn't bathroom trained inside. Outside, he used to poo on the grass quite a bit, and we just moved the poo into the back corner and made him smell it. Don't puch his face into it! Eventually he learnt that he was to poo there. Not very hard and it took him about 1-2months. Make sure you don't have long grass, coz they love pooing in it. They think noone can see them and their poos!!!

Very easy. Mine is 5 months now. I got him when he was 9 weeks and he only took 2 days to housetrain inside. I just picked him up every time he tried and put him outside. Even if they are in the middle of doing it pick him up. After 5 attempts the second day I had him he learned to sit at the door. Try to prevent it though and take him outside if he sniffs. Give treats for going outside and sitting at the door, before going out too. Speeds it up. My first shepherd took 4 days to housetrain.

4 days was my first shepherd because he was older. My current one trained in 2 days. Younger they are the more they have to go, the more times to correct or reward them in a day. I housetrained mine in an apartment too. It will take a while for them to get used to the stairs. Put treats on each of the stairs to encourage them to climb but don't force it. You may have to carry them up or down for a little while until htey become confident with it. They have to go out every hour at 7 weeks.
