  • HA HA HA HA HA....ahhh fuck!

  • I hate the main character in this game! Fucking annoy brat who a god damn baby!!

  • @BattlefieldJoe97 auron was the shit though..... am I right?

  • @DaLiFeOfDaPaRtY00 He was THE SHIT!!! Hell he was the only character in the game that was smart then everyone else!!

  • The game before the downfall of the franchise.

  • @ZeroGamerBlake this was by far my favorite game, so i disagree with you strongly.

  • @PcGamingMonster Read my comment again. This was the game "Before" the downfall of the franchise, hence meaning it was a good game because games onward from this are crap.

  • @ZeroGamerBlake oh i am sorry. thanks for showing me. :)

  • the best FF game i ever played...i never enjoyed the ps1 FF's

  • For all of those who are confused about the name it's tee-dus not tie-dus there's even an interview with the producer saying how his name is said.Im pretty sure the maker of the damn game is right over 90 percent of u illiterate people.

  • @TheKwetech1 But Auron is a badass!

  • It pronounced Like T-E-E-D-U-S. I guess it does say it in KH, but it's also said by Yuna in 012 Dissidia.

  • If you want to know how for sure is Tidus pronaunced, either play Kingdom Hearts(it's extremely early in the game) or maybe find beach part where Sora(gamer)meets I think 4 friends.

Wakka pronaunces Tidus 1 time only as far as I can remember.

    Or read:

    T-E-D-U-S.Tidus

  • How did Ifrit get more screen time than Auron?

  • @DreamingOfZanarkand Ifrit is a Final Fantasy regular.

  • 10 was a good game... it's actually the first Final fantasy I ever played. Then came the older ones for me. 9 and 6 are my personal favorites also.

  • Tee-dus, Tie-dus, to-mate-o, to-mah-to. Same thing, different way to say it. I say it both ways.

  • Was i the only one who got goosebumps watching this?"Their world is you're world"<3True ;3<3

  • Seeing this commercial made me want to play FFX again. Oh, the memories of my senior year (2004)

  • WHO THA FUCK IS TEEDUS?

  • TEEDUS

  • Sad that Final Fantasy X was the last great main Final Fantasy game, every FF games after that either is an MMO, a spinoff, or an interactive movie.

  • @blueswan1984 ff13 was ok

  • @supermarioworld99 compared to other ff games and other rpgs that have come out the last few years like lost oddesy blue dragon infinite undiscovery and i cant remember the other one it was shit lol

  • @blueswan1984 Final fantasy 12 was a great game but other then that it has been shit. They started going down hill when they merged with ENIX and make square enix

  • I still own this game somewhere....right now playing ff XIII/ff VIII

  • This had me at the first note of The Zanarkand

  • While FFX had terrible character designs, the gameplay more than made up for it.

  • so i heard this is going to be in high defination

  • TIE-DUS is correct. That is my fathers name lol. It made me so happy when his name was in Final Fantasy X. Honestly this is one of the best games ever released, Way ahead of it's time when it went into super HD cutscenes. Gosh this game was so amazing. REMAKE PLZ!

  • @xEcl1pseSn1p3rx your wish is granted, in case you didn't know.

  • TIDE-us does sound alot better then TEE-dus.....teedus is just so.....pansyish

  • Coming ONLY to Playstation 2

    Heh, not anymore!

I hope they don't find a way to mess this up, X was the last good FF game.

  • When Ty-dus pisses me off, I just call him "Surfer boy." Tidus is Surfer boy, Zidane is Monkey boy, Squall is Emo boy, Cloud is Crazy boy, and Terra is Magic girl. Oh, and Lightning is Emo girl, what's-his-face from 12 (Vaun?) is Closet boy (because of where he VERY obviously is), and nobody gives a shit about 11.

  • Here's another one: Do they ever actually say Tidus' name in the game? I don't remember... >xD

  • @Hextechie Nope. They just go for the "Hey you, It's HIM" Route.

  • @SagesOfL33T Objection! NPC's that weren't important eneough to be givin voices say his name

  • Is there really 90% of comments based on how to pronounce Tidus's name?

  • This is my favourite FF 'cuz it's the first I've ever played my self. Friggin' awesome.

  • tie-duss xD

  • Pronounce it how you damn well like for God's sake. Tide-us sounds better to me, and that's a REASON, not an excuse.

One of my favorite Final Fantasy's. I remember when I first got it, was absolutely mesmerized (: Great commercial too. Spectacular game in most every way.

  • Nearly every single comment on here is about tidus's name. I only found like one comment about the commercial and the game itself. LOL!

  • @jollter I know its really annoying

  • lol am i the only person who pronounces it thee dus or am not standing alone

  • @TheTheDanceMusic why would you pronounce it that, theres no "h" in his name?

  • @Midgarelite because in my mind it sounds better

  • @TheTheDanceMusic ITS TIDE US DAMNIT!

  • he forgot to mention this:

"FF X, where our motto is, "Spend half of the game where you don't fight monsters walking in the same general direction for hours."

haha sorry i love all the FF games even the post X ones (except for XIV) but still this was a pretty big flaw.

  • I always call him tee-dus.. Simply because that's the way it's *supposed* to be prenounced... technically, his name means something close to sun in japanese, and has nothing to do with water.

  • @fdgecrckr pronounced, sorry

  • Am I the only one who think's Yuna is really cute?

  • @XxSpRiTeZzxX nope :P

  • so is Tidus called Tie-dus or Tee-dus? i'm confused because tie-dus sounds better because of "tides" and that's what i associate with him so i don't know, how do they say it in Kingdom Hearts?

  • @waxford13 It's [Tee-dus]. Any game that has his name said allowed (examples: Dissidia, Duodecim, and Kingdom Hearts) all use this pronunciation. The only reason it isn't said in X is due to the fact that the player can choose his name.

  • @DiReplay i'm still gonna use Tide-us because it sounds better.

  • @waxford13 Not really. I notice people use "because it sounds better" as an excuse to cover their mistake. I'd rather say something properly than incorrectly and look like a noob.

  • @DiReplay thing is though, i don't care. i didn't know before, so it wasn't an excuse, and now that i do know, i still don't care. i can pronounce it however i want. people say Mario differently, so why is Tidus any different. i'm not covering any mistake, it's my opinion that i like Tide-us better, so i'm gonna call him that. it doesn't make me a noob if i have an opinion, besides, all my friends use Tide-us, so if someone calls us fools, then we're all fools, and i don't care either way.

  • @waxford13 The only way I can see people saying "Mario" different would be people using Italian accents since there is no controversy over how to pronounce his name, so that comment is void. And yes, you can have your own opinions, but not all opinions are the right opinions. That's like saying if in the Nazi's opinions they did nothing wrong so they don't care, we should leave them alone since it's their opinions. Neigh, that isn't how it works. Opinions only matter on some topics.

  • @DiReplay it's not my opinion that Tide-us should be the name, it's just that it's the way i call him and i don't want to change it. besides, whenever i try i keep failing and eventually forget about it. if it bothers you that much, then it's okay, but it seems to be that Tide-us is the only choice for me to say it.

  • Spring 2002? I got this game for christmas in 2001. WTF?

  • @Patrick19833 ya I thought I got my in chrismas of 01'

  • @Midgarelite What if this is the International version of the game? huh? :o beacouse international versions comes after the normal game

  • @Patrick19833 Companies change release dates. Don't get so confused over it. I'm pretty sure you're big kid enough to figure out that is what they did.

  • @DiReplay You are a douche bag. Just because the Japanese developers call it that way, (which was probably a mistake,) does not mean that every person who got an American copy of the game is wrong for pronouncing it Tie-dus, (which is actually the correct pronunciation of that spelling in english.) Just to piss you off, "tee-dus" sounds stupid and anyone who thinks it sounds cool is also stupid :P

  • @afropaladin Being correct =/= Douche bag.

Now that that is out of the way, I'd like to point out that in English, not everything is pronounced out it's spelled, so your argument is invalid. Also, if they are pronouncing it [tide-us] then yes, they are pronouncing it wrong. Your logic makes no sense.

  • @DiReplay Being correct does not equal being a douche bag, but being an asshole and telling everyone they are wrong because you disagree with them does. On your second point, "Tidus" is an english name and it is pronounced Tie-dus in english.

  • The thing is, they call him TEEDUS in Kingdom Hearts as well.. :P

  • Just to AVOID confussions about his name for good i always name him "TYDUS" instead of "TIDUS"...

sounds better, looks better, gramatically correct and i can call him "Ty" as a nickname LOL

  • I wish that ps3 would have same quality of games on it...ff7 remake would do...^_^ and ffX my fav rpg...

  • One of the best final fantasies ever... ugh, I remember how epic it was. Such a sad game.

  • Waaaaah this commercial is epic ! FFX best FF ever !! The music in the background. *o*

  • Actually, the correct pronunciation is "Teedus" for all of those who are complaining about it. Thus why it was 'mispronounced' in Kingdom Hearts as well. The game was made in Japan, and their Romanji "i" sounds like "ee" in English. It's easy to see how people wouldn't know though if they don't know a lot of Japanese. After all, his name is never spoken in-game because the player is allowed to name him something else if they want.

  • I've been pronouncing Tidus as "Tee-dus" as long as I can remember xD So I can't help but feel weird when everyone else pronounce his name as Tie-dus. It sounds stupid to me xD

  • It's Tee-dus, the way the narrator said it is correct, because his name comes from the Japanese word 'tida', which means 'sun'. It parallells with 'Yuna', which represents the 'moon'.

  • Ugh I hate it when they say his name wrong. You pronounce it "tide-us" not teedis. Then he sounds like a doosh

  • i guest titties better than tee-dus

  • i say TIE-dus cause I think it sounds better, and I think of it like TIDE cause he's all watery :3 i also sometimes call him tight-ass in my head LOL

  • @MichaTeaLeaf I agree, and no amount of proof otherwise will get me to say TEE-dus, even Kingdom Hearts lol

  • @MichaTeaLeaf Hahahahaha, tight-ass.

  • @MichaTeaLeaf I think bitch boy is more fitting.

  • @zeldaed123 ummm ya, that was lame lol

  • @MichaTeaLeaf

you've got down down to a "T" brotha. i've never thought too much about how to say his name :D

  • @MichaTeaLeaf It doesn't matter what you like. Tee-dus is the correct way to say it.

  • @MichaTeaLeaf lmfao as long as i aint the only one :)

  • The last FF game worth the money tbh

  • @Disturbeu i agree dont even wanna try 11 and 12 was horrible i mean how cud they hav stopped the turnbased style? its wat made ff, ff

  • @Disturbeu haha could not have agreed more, 12 sucked and 13 was not worth 59.99

  • @Midgarelite I loved 12 and i loved 13 more

  • @Disturbeu i know what you mean. i spent $100 on thirteen only to spend 4 hours playing the game only to find out i wasted my money.

  • Is it TEEDES. Not TIEDES.

  • TEETEES

  • Um, best and most epic game commercial ever.

  • I heard different characters pronounce it as "Tee-dus" in Kingdom Hearts. And Square developed that too, so I suppose thats how its pronounced. But who knows. . .

  • @yungniccajebo well in kh1 its teedus and in kh2 it is tiedus but in dissidia for psp yet again its teedus so thats 2 out of 3 for teedus so it wins

  • Why is this a constant battle? In Japan, it WOULD be pronounced Tee-dus but whoever says it is free to pronounce it however they want! Ya dig? Cool.

  • Japanese version is "TEE-DA" (ティーダ). The "e" is held long.

I will always think of him as Tie-dus, even though I know how they expect it to be pronounced.

  • If you look at the katakana for Tidus' name, it WOULD be pronounced "tee-dus." But whatever, it's a neverending argument.

  • its teedus in kh 1 but tie dus in kh2, wut the hell....

  • =D that's one of the best videogamecommercials i've ever seen

  • Okay, why did the announcer just call Tidus "Teedus"?

    What the freck?

  • heh ya, thats what the two commenters under us were arguing over... you know they just always translate it wierd.

  • @Midgarelite it's teedus in dissidia enlgish and japanese it's pronouced Tee-Dus

  • @Midgarelite yea Tidus didnt actually have a name in the game thats why people areconfuses on how pronounce it

  • @InnerRise. It's because in English speaking countries we really aren't pronouncing it correctly. "Ti" in Japanese makes a TEE sounds. However in many English speaking nations it simply looks like like it should be pronounced TIE. Along with the translation and pronunciation differences it really didn't help the world of FFX that they didn't have anyone in the game ever say his name. To enforce the right pronunciation.

  • @InnerRise Because that is how it's pronounced.

  • damnit! he said teedus :(

  • I know, Its those stupied translators, The do the same thin with the Organization Members in Kingdom Hearts and In the anime Naruto

  • i hate it when they do that....ITS "TIE-DUS" PEOPLE!!!

  • No.....its Tee-Dus.

Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Dissidia, and the creators themselves have said this.

  • KH and Dissidia both pronounce the name incorrectly, its Tie-dus, and as for the creators stating that his name is Tidus, i've never heard them say that his name is Tee-dus. English pronunciations/translators tend to ruin characters names, Tidus' is no exception

  • @setsitaru

And how do you know for a fact its pronounced Tie-dus? Because of the whole weather reference for most of the main character's names in the series?

As it stands now: 3 games and 1 commercial, that were approved and released by Square-Enix and Square Soft, have pronounced it as Tee-Dus. That alone makes that pronunciation to be true. So in the US he is called "Tee-Dus".

  • I would need some form of official proof to believe that because as far as I've heard, its Tie-dus. and the commercials (or games as english versions can make the same mistake) make mistakes with a number of chars. Take Naruto for example. normally, its pronounced "Na-Rue-Toe" but in english commercials they butchered it and called it "Narootoe".

  • ya I belive its Tie-dus to, in naruto the pronounce Sasori's name Sai-sari, it just gets mixed up, they do they same thing for kingdom hearts COM

  • James Arnold Taylor said Tee-dus in official interviews, and so have several official trailers.

I say you can pronounce it however you want.

  • it is actually pronounced Tee-dus, its a roman name, iv always pronounced it Tie-dus tho, tee-dus sounds bad but its how its correctly pronounced

  • @setsitaru i believe narootoe is more correct since it has emphasize on the r like should be. in fact japanese didn't pronounce the oo/ue part that much so it's almost like nartoe istead of narootoe

  • @kernnuroho yeah thats what I was trying to say (as far as Naruto goes) but text can only explain so much when talking about how to pronounce something goes you know?

  • @atlier00 eh to-may-to to-mah-to haha xD

  • @setsitaru thier the ones who made the game. im pretty sure they meant what they said. which is teedus.

    and thats that.

  • @setsitaru following the rules of romaji, its tee-dus ^_^;

  • @setsunathemoo I looked it up and yeah, its from the Romaji word Tida but Tie-dus just sounds beeter and actually fits in a way when you think how Tide goes in with Tied-us. (yeah, i know i'm making a lot of variations just to say Tie-dus)

  • that was cool

  • lol thansk, but I did not make it.
