  • you should end the table tennis

  • Not 16Cms in the air.

  • no it isnt legal , you have to throw the ball 16 cm up in the air

  • am i the only one how noticed is little gay dance after his serve

  • @CashMoneyKillerz dude you are making my whole day a lot happier.

  • that is the most illegal serve ever u just got to look at it to realize that u fools

  • not even close to being legal

  • does this video make sense?

  • no

  • the serve also has to start above the table

  • When you serve, you have to throw the ball at least 15 santimetres. Also you have to throw it straight up, not just to drop!

  • @daniappledani HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS

  • he didnt even throw he ball he just fropped it lol

  • The real question is... who cares?

  • I never knew that was an illegal serve. I've been doing spin serves for years...

  • illegal-ball was not tossed up 6 inches

  • it was illegal because it was under 6 inches and his hand started under the table as he tossed it up into the air.

  • without any doubt illegal, throwing the ball up at least 16 cm is only part of it. The ball has to drop 16 cm as well. And clearly he failed at that.

  • @gomonekje Where in the ITTF regulations for service does it say that the ball has to "drop 16cm"? I can't see it. All I can see is: "The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck."

  • why would someone film you with a potato?

  • The ball should be tossed from the open hand palm, at a height of at least 16cm. Then, it must enter from outside the table and from the bottom white line (not the sides).

  • ilegal...

    full ilegal...

  • illegal

  • That's illegal

    LEGALIZE MARlJUANA ! ! !

  • 240p we meet again.....

  • Yes it is because the opponent who wasnt serving could not see the ball

  • The rule: First service that is not clearly legal should be deemed a let with a warning. Subsequent dubious service by same player lose the point.

As commented by others, throw heigth as well as point of impact are borderline at best (both look illegal to me, but hard to say for sure with the available video quality). Nice catch by umpire, and correctly called (assuming no previous warnings had been given to that player).

  • 10cm

  • it looked legal. get that out in front of you more so the ref can see it is leagal

  • This service is legal. Compare the height of the ball with the size of the racket! It's nearly the same. A standard racket has a size of 15 to 16 cm. Also the height of the net (15,25 cm) can be used as a comparison. But for the umpire it was a bit difficult to see it because of the speed! I think I would have warned the guy, too! In real matches you don't have a slow-motion.

  • has to be 16cm ! this is not !

  • totally illegal, no need for slowmotion replay

  • legal

  • The minimum height for the toss should be the length of your penis, if you are a man, or your ideal penis if you are a woman.

In that perspective, maybe this guy served legally.

  • @cristiancj82 that'd make ma lin's penis long beyond belief.

  • illegal

  • New subject... Pudding???

  • THAS ARE 10CM.?

  • That is legalllllll

  • I gotta pee

  • The height is from where you toss the ball up right? So any height gained from dropping your hand down after tossing is not counted, right?

  • of course it isn't legal everybody can see that but i wouldn't bother at that skill lvl lol

  • It's illegal

  • its illegal alright

  • to nie legalne

  • wtf... most bullshit illegal serve ever...

  • also you didnt hit the ball on ITS WAY DOWN..

  • @prithwin Ofc u hit the ball on its way down. Doesn't matter since u threw it at least 16 CMs. I'm a sponsored PP-Player. Hitting the ball on its way down gives more spin than when it goes up.

  • He didn't even throw the ball higher than the net; not even 6 inches, which is basically above the net! Dx

  • Its illegal. The toss was less than 6 inches.

  • Hilarious, the A.I in Sports Champions would be destroyed by the rules alone.

It throws serves like that all the time.

  • illegal, even my tiny asian eyes know it without the slow and zoom

  • yes its ilegal :(

  • 16cm nach oben werfen...nciht hand nach unten fallen lassen

  • illegal, hand with ball not above table surface

  • @roadi1983:

    1. Der Ball muss auf dem Handteller ruhen.

  • "Service shall start with the ball resting freely on the open palm of the server's stationary free hand.": fault!

The ball never ever reached 16 cm: fault!

    Ball is falling: correct!

    Ball ...

    d

  • Even if it wasn't illegal, it would still suck.

  • Comment removed

  • l o l what a fail

  • yes it is

  • here to proof my statement .... hope you can read german :D official rules ...

  • This is defiantly legal all u have to do is make sure the ball hits the table from ur paddle then goes over the net without it touching the net and make it go into the box diagonal from u

  • @100isadom1 wrong moron! Look up the USATT and ITTF rules on serving. I replayed this many times. You can see that his left hand winds up just under the net on the toss. The ball at its highest point goes to just under the white tape. When his right hand comes through to hit the ball you can see that the ball is still superimposed on the first finger of his hand, and his little finger and the bottom of the paddle are below where his left hand was at its highest point. That's definitely <6 " !

  • @100isadom1 Also you don't have to serve crosscourt in singles... that rule is only for doubles. You seriously need to look up the ITTF rules on serving. Most countries rules substantially follow ITTF rules. USATT rules are Identical to ITTF with the exception for hardbat rackets. The USATT ruling for hardbat is way more cogent than the ITTF ruling in this matter. The ITTF hasn't really showed us all much brainpower when ruling on Rubbers and their illegality (e.g. frictionless long pips).

  • ILLEGAL

  • Illegal

  • illegal

  • illegal. It was tossed barely 3 inches high only. Look at it from the point where the ball left the hand. It only looks higher because the hand went down after tossing the ball. and he's even contasting the call! The body language during serve says "gay" too. haha

  • I can do this serv

  • illegal

  • it has to be tossed up, AND IT HAS TO FALL DOWN THE SAME DISTANCE, 16 cm i think .... so its illegal ...

if u dont believe me, just check the official ittf rules ;o)

  • @roadi1983 No it doesn't have to fall the same distance you tossed it up. It just has to go at least 16 cm, which is = 6.299 inches, beyond where your hand was when the ball left it. See USATT rules 6.2.1 through 6.2.7 (same as ITTF rules). It could go all the way up to the ceiling as long as it doesn't touch anything and is visible at all times to the opponent. You can't hit it on the way up. It must be hit on the way down. Go to USATT.org and click on the RULES menu pop down to see them.

  • @BloxorzWizard

you are wrong sir, ive already asked a high-lvl referee i know from my tabletennis club, we checked his rulebook together, it clearly stands there, tossed up, and fall down ....

  • @roadi1983 This is the USATT rule. 2.6.2 The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16 cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck. 2.6.3 As the ball is falling the server shall strike it so that it touches first the court and then, after passing over or around the net assembly, touches directly the receiver's court... exactly what I said. What didn't you get?

  • @BloxorzWizard

ill transalte my german text from below now, just for you dude... :)

The Server throws the ball, without giving spin to it, almost straight up, that the ball after leaving the hand at least goes up 16cm , and then falls down without touching anything, before it gets hit.

dude, thats just out of the official rules and a 1st and 2nd league referre told me that its true ... im really sure, hes about 55 years old, and forever an referee in german TT-league...

  • @BloxorzWizard but let me add one thing , i think every referee has a different point of view, at least thats my experience ... here in germany, you would get a foul call for not letting it drop. maybe not 16cm, but who knows how long it fell when youre about to hit it ... very very hard to decide, but you MUST let it fall down ... theres no question about it, how long, we can argue ... but its has to fall after being tossed 16cm ;o) !!!!!!

  • @roadi1983 This is from the Stump the Ump section at the USATT website USATT.org The Ump is Paul Kovacs: Q: When serving, after tossing the ball vertically at least 16cm and then letting it fall, must the server let the ball fall a certain distance before striking the ball, or is it okay to strike the ball the instant the ball begins to fall from its high point?- submitted by Ralph Crisostomo. A: It's okay to strike the ball the instant the ball begins to fall from its high point.

  • @roadi1983 But let me add one thing lol. I agree, most refs and Umpires probably interpret the rules slightly differently, which is why there is much confusion. They hardly ever call the serves of the top players illegal, when, in fact, most of the top players serve illegally all the time lol. I will not let players get away with serving illegally when I'm serving correctly. Case in point. 3 time hardbat Champ Loc Gno hides the ball with his body constantly. I catch it, return it & scold him.

  • i don't know if it's legal or not.. but he is gay

  • I've got it at 6" exactly and legal! POINT!

  • ilegal

  • No! The ball must throw up to 16 cm! A maximum of 8 here!

  • that was more like 5 cm...

  • @SoulWarden11 it should be more ythan 14cm. ;/

  • Comment removed

  • @WTFSzymon Why are you telling ME? You should be telling poorknight123 if you're going to tell anyone. He's the one asking. Besides, I obviously knew it was an illegal serve; otherwise I would not have said such a sarcastic (yet, accurate) height in the first place. Perhaps you should be more careful in your reading so that next time you decide to say something, you don't say something so ignorant again. Have a nice day!

  • ilegal

  • Thats because you can't play this serve

  • I hate when people serve like that at practise, really ticks me off.

  • lol thats the most grimy serve

  • even paralympic player can throw higher than this player, what a shame

  • Well... unless your wrist is 16cm across... because the width of your wrist is about how far the ball is tossed...

  • he is hiding the ball, so illegal.

  • @TheSkykidof68 No, it was actually because he didn't throw the ball high enough.

  • Very ilegal. lets look at something more important. your serve. its god awful. if you like your BH serve. serve from the BH corner short and cross court. this gives you opponent a decision. does he go with the spin and give it to your FH and risk missing the table, or does he play it safe and go cross court. most players go cross. wait there with your forehand and attack. Your serve is the most important part of your game. your serve NEEDS to be spiny, deceptive, and adaptable. good luck

  • Yes. very ilegal. lets look at the true travesty of this video. YOUR SERVE. its awful. no spin, long and right to him. he didnt even have to move. if you like the backhand serve. move to the backhand corner and serve it short cross court. this gives your opponent a decision. does he return it to your forehand going with the spin and risk missing the table. or does he play it cross court. most players will play it safe and go cross court. wait there with your forehand and attack. just a tip.enjoy

  • one of the most gay and illegal serves i have ever seen!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHA

  • LOOOOOOOOOL FKING NOOP SERVE.

  • illegal

  • illegal he didn't throw the ball high enough

  • vaya pendejo saque!!!!

  • you need to throw it higher and with straight open hands..

  • illegal!

  • The ITTF rule handbook states that the ball must be thrown at least 16 cm from the hand without imparting any spin (rule 2.6.2) and must be struck above and behind the table. (rule 2.6.4) These are the international rules for all tournament play. A free copy of the handbook can be found just about anywhere on the internet. Your best bet would be to look up "The Laws of Table Tennis", which is the title of the manual.

  • Have to throw at least 16 Cm's High then hit, So Many nubs do it to me when i play them

  • mada mada dane

  • stupid serveee!

  • Just loop the ball more!

  • Really? Do you have to throw it up?

I've been doing it like this (except with my right forehand) forever!

  • @98nfsmw98 yeah it has to be at least 6 inches.

  • legal, i play for MK and its legal,

  • Yep, totally illegal. 6" up from an open hand.

  • Completely illegal

  • look than to me

  • The service may have been of legal height, but the umpire is required to warn anything that doesn't sufficiently go ABOVE the required height. Because they can't judge the exact 6 inches they have to call it if it's not clear. Also it looks like the toss started below the table which is another infraction.

  • @LookB3hindU Actually they are not required to, it's discretionary.

  • @stefanarak Well yeah it is, but the discretion is nearly always any time they think it's borderline. For any service that is clearly above a warning is almost never issued. Anything that is unclear as to whether it is the correct height would require a warning for the integrity of the game.

  • illegal u can serve with with ur friendz but its illegal should be 6 inches above ur hand

  • Illegal. serves should thrown 6inches above the air.

  • I think this is illegal, but my friend in school serving like this and he thinks this is legal ;// Stupid xD

  • illegal

  • what else? illiegal...

  • Yes it is illegal you have to have the ball in the palm of your hand and throw the ball 10cm into the air then strike the ball!

  • @TTStar2K7 15 cm not 10 a minimum of 6 inches.

  • i would be happy if my opponent serves like that !

  • i l e g a l xD

  • Everyone here is right, including the umpire. It's a illegal serve. Too low toss from the hand to the paddle. The closeup shows it. Way to darn low from the hand. That's more like 1/4 of an inch toss.

  • well if u just gonna play just for fun then it's legal. if tournament i think it's illegal tho.

  • Suicide.

  • ilegal :)

  • there was no height in the serve, it was toss into the paddle height

  • I would say illegal. To me it is approximately 10cm-12cm then striked.

  • it is illegal because he is not throwing the ball over 16cm

  • Well, let's ask Ma Lin... (laughing).

  • Nope not legal.

  • Nope, like other have said. Not being critical but what is it with the "foot work" is that the happy serve dance? I have seen (and do the foot stomp) but never the pigeon toe dance serve.....

Look on youtube for some ideas how the proper way to serve. Then practice serving one style of serve about 200 to 300 times before putting it into play.

However, keep practicing and enjoy the sport and dont get discouraged.

  • haahaha noob server XP

  • is cool and legal

  • why illegal? the toss is only short.. but its ok.

  • @nadineZERO The toss has to be over 16cm from the throwing hand. The serve was obviously illegal. Also, you cannot strike the ball while it's travelling upwards or at its highest point of toss. This serve was very obviously illegal. If you cannot see why, then you should not play.

  • noob serve... and there was hardly any toss...

  • illegal!!!

  • indeed that is illegal, one he brought it from below the table it must be above and seen at all times, and two he didnt throw it to its required height about 16 cm

  • Not legal!

  • 1. hold the ball is on the palm (!) of the hand

    2. throw it straight upwards - minimum 16cm

    3. hit the ball while it's falling (!!!)

The shown serve is not legal!

  • that dood is gay ass fuck look at his body language

  • This is an illegal sevice and the reason being is that the player serving does not throw the ball 6 inches (16 cm) from a flat palm. What the server does is he drops his hand low rather than throwing the ball the required height.

  • not legall!!!

  • Not legal, the ball didn´t reach the established high

  • legal, but cheep. I see why the ref called it.

  • well the refere is right he must throw the ball higher

  • nope. gotta toss it up a lil higher sir

  • in the pro TT rules, the ball needs to toast 6 inches above onto your palm, with this sample video,my observation is,he did not toast the ball up to 6 inches, instead he did move his hand down under the ball,so this is 99.9% ILLEGAL SERVES or what we call ed CHEATER SERVES..

  • Table Tennis players can tell that guy in blue shirt needs more training.

    Its not legal!

  • illegal

  • Wow what a great serve!!!

    It is totally legal.

You can measure the gap using the ball as a guide. It is 16cm just.

Also there is no question that the ball is on the way down.

The umpire is just a jerk who is bored....

Can I get in contact with that guy so I can pay him to teach me to serve?

  • @risingnovas haha

  • illegal ...totally

  • illegal

  • well probably it might not be considered leagal this time but if he tosses it just a bit more it should be legal for sure.

The palm is open,he is not hiding the ball any time and after leaving the hand the ball rises 16 cms from where it left the hand,so that should be legal as per the rules.

but then again in this particular one it might have to be tossed a bit more.

  • illlegal...

  • Of course it's illegal. It has to be up in the air for at least 6 inches

  • salut,

c'est completement interdit de servir de cette maniere. le reglement international dit que l'hors du service: tu dois lancer la balle verticalement et a une distance de minimum 16 cm. si t'as d'autre question sur le ping , tu m' fais signe ;=)

  • that serve was totally illegal, and i definitely agree ..the umpire warned the guy for the unnecessary, stupid dance move at the end of the serve....it was a dirty tactic he applied, it made his opponent felt vomiting... hahaha. hilarious serve..easy and lame...anyways...peace yah all !

  • no that is never a legal serve !!! der ball muss höher geworfen werden

  • Wow...6 inchs dawg!! That was damn harsh man...lmao!!

  • It devintly illeagel you have to throgh the ball up 16 cm (in germany NRW) up by the the way this one is realy lame an you can top spin it back realy easy

  • i call this the fag serve...look at what the guy does after he is finished serving lmao :p

  • very illegal

  • amateurs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ge trek daar gewoon ne side-spin of power top-spin op. en hij kan gaan ballen rapen

  • welke klasse speel je en welke team?

kom je naar enjoy en deploy?

  • it was on its way up and not down, the rule is you can only hit it on its way down after rising 16 cm, which it alson failed to do

  • no

the ball have to be elevated a minimum of 15 cm

  • Comment removed

  • ilegal ilegal ilegal

  • low

  • LEGAL

  • it illegal because he trows it underneath the table
