Nice video- next time tell bozo to leave the f--king gun back at the compound - what a joke (a bad joke). Doesn't do much good for the responsible rider image and definitely feeds the defiant redneck stereotype that is getting trails closed.
That was the whole point of the joke....from the movie Red Dawn. Eric is a CEO of a software company, writes tons of USFS responses to closures. The decision to close was already done...waving a .22 around wasn't going to change anything.
@atvobsession OK well sorry I didn't get the joke- just seemed awkward and a little annoying- otherwise I thought the video was a really good documentation with good riding footage!
why does anyone need to manage a trail thats 100 years old .. isnt that like public trail?? i thought the public could decide where they want to ride .. off highway ? who lets this CRAP happen???
It's on public land, and the trail, like many in California is managed by the USFS. They control it. During the route designation process (google it), the USFS has been inventorying and determining what trails to leave open or close. The Federal Gov't is behind all the land closures. Who lets it happen? We the voters who don't vote in politicians that support Public Land access. Period.
What's with that Eric? Is he 10 years old, waving that big artificial pecker around like a Taliban? But lo and behold, when it comes down to riding the sketchy stuff he wimps out.
He needs to put the gun away, it's not cool. What, does he think swinging that thing makes up for chickening out on the ride? That would be the last ride he'd take with my group.
Guys bring a firearm sometimes but it stays in the carrier, nobody is so childish as to pull it out and wave it around.
You are so correct. BLM was started to manage mining on public land, and USFS was started to manage logging. They weren't in the recreation business...and even today, they don't like it. Look at the USFS...most are idealistic kids in college who are going to save owls, but in reality spend their time dumping trash and cleaning bathrooms.
I wish more people made videos like this, this is so excellent. I don't understand how this trail got closed, responsible riders, enjoying the countryside, this is really BS.
Thanks. I appreciate it. Since we made the video, we found out it was originally built in 1879, and the current structure in 1909. It was last used in 1937 on an unsustainable trail. LOL.

Are there any statistics indicating which states are being properly managed and allowing full access to public lands?

USFS and BLM suck. They don't want to manage an area, so they shut it down. Sad, considering my current State of Utah is 80% BLM managed.
