Screw bad advice. Olympic lifters go down to absolute rock bottom, yet you don't hear about them blowing their knees out. It's bad form and using more weight than you can handle that are the only things which make squats "dangerous", and it's the same for any other lift. Just squat - it's the best thing you can do to get big!
