  • I just died a little.

  • a big chunck of the tip of my favorite knife in the world broke off

  • Why does your knife say "cutlerylober"?

  • Ahhh It hurts to watch!!!!

  • Did this a while back to my beater Tenacious tip that broke off and got a nice tip back on it.

  • if you have a sharpmaker woulnt you be able to put it in the slot it has and do it like that ? just wondering ?

  • ahhhh i hate dulling knives intently

  • hey jeff... what about sheepsfoot blades, cant see how this could apply to something like the delica four

  • omg i started screaming when u smashed that tip! bout ready to cry :P

  • hey love ur vids super helpful!

  • I almost cried

  • OMG

  • i cringed.. that was terrible. treat your knives like you treat your women!. bad jeffy.

  • you could use that marker or flat black piant would work

  • My ears hurt and you're not forgiven. ...for now

  • Mtech knives are fucking garbage. I'm disapointed in you jeff,

  • Good video Jeff

  • thats the first marker review ive ever seen lol

  • Omfg Jeff ur killing me

  • Thought you were going to segue into a marker pen review!

  • all these comments about surface area and friction width stuff make my brain hurt its the weekend lol

  • I have a quick question. Where did u get this knife custom made?

  • u just fucked up your knife dude!i put points on my knives with a kinda of cilinder tool made of hard ceramic, no need to do this shit u do with your knife.

  • Thanks for the picture, it helped me understand a bit more of what you were talking about.

  • NICE beat jeff when you dull the lip that was cool

  • Jeff makes music when he dulls his tips..

  • You couldn't just have used a knife that was already dull

  • really great video thanks Jeff

  • Dulling the tip = Dubstep

  • is it possible to use water on the stone in the future? the sound makes me cringe when its dry haha

  • can some1 help me

i dont know how to sharpen my knife cause i dont have a stone

    help please

  • jeff, you do less damage to the stone if you move the tip sideways instead of straight on.

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus and for the "screwdriver tip" - you can grind the blade from edge side too, of course you have to put new edge on the affected area. needs electric grinding wheel (cheap 150w is enough) and tincan of water for cooling. i have bit of experience in this, my cousin is expert on breaking knife tips by screwdriwing, nut prying etc. just few days back i did three new tips on auntie's kitchen knives. :D

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus there is much less resistance the way I do it and I like the grinds to be straight as its a rough surface it will show grind lines as well

  • @cutlerylover well, the resistance should be the same jeff, by the laws of physics its determined by the force you put on multiplied by friction coefficient. area of contact or width of the path doesnt play role. Feel of the resistance comes from worse ergonomics of the movement, but i wouldnt bother you with this...

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus If you want to get techinical you must factor in the surface area, as mentioned...the raised surface area increases the possability of imperfectiosn in the stone creating more resistance...the less surface area it touches the less chance of hitting n imperfection

  • @cutlerylover that shut him up jeff lol. Where can you buy these kind of stones and how much are they?

  • @cutlerylover well, actually increased area reduces effects of the imperfections, looks to be the other way around, but surely you know this from sawing - more teeth in the action = smoother cut. If you cut pop can, the initial sawing is smooth, and as you get thru and the thin walls are more and more perp to the saw, sawing becomes difficult due to less teeth in action. for the tip repair, note that contact surface stays the same regardless ot the motion being sideways or parallel.

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus but thats not to put you down or something, the method you show surely works, and thats whats all about.

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus how about this, I dont like the grind lines going sideways ok, lol

  • @cutlerylover well for the final stage i use spent glasspaper (so the roughest grains are leveled) on flat surface and one directional movement, so the mico scratches are all parallel. Looks nearly like polished metal except it does not give mirror polish. but smoother than on stone. would too move it so the scratches are straight with spine. for the extra looks it can be futher polished, but i personaly dont have the polishing wheel and im too lazy to do it by hand... :D

  • @cutlerylover Win.

  • @cutlerylover i love how you can win every discussion on the internet, lol

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus Fuck off you elitist, so what he is doing it a way you don't like? Don't troll his video

  • @PCgeekist Im not trolling dude, im mechanic, so i simply adwise how things can be done easier.

  • Jeff, I love your videos :) You are such a joy to listen to!

  • That.... no... OMG.. the... pain...

  • Nice job with making your point! lol

  • Hey, that's pretty good rhythm. Essential for knife tricks. An indicator of healthy myelin. Lol

  • My brother bought me an MTech for my first knife. I had it for 2 years until the handle finally fell apart.

  • heres a tip turn the sound off before the stabbing

  • 1:15-1:40

    Ow.

  • I'd buy that drawing for 100$

    Signed.

  • NOOO!!! THE HORROR!!! WHY!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, Jeff. Thank you for this video! I just successfully repaired the tip of one of my favorite beater knives

  • whene ever i get sick your voice makes me feel better lol

  • Dulling the tip: I think you have discovered a new musical instrument.

  • @Deep13Deep13Deep13 it was a beautiful piece... lol

  • hey Jeff i use office max markers as well. Could you do a review on some better markers please? lol

  • Jeff i want to know how YOU sharpen your knives...non of this five dollar stone crap. I dont want a five dollar edge i want to get the thing as sharp as i can get it, with out macking it into a razor blade...lol

  • Thanks Jeff, the tip on my titanium Sage was dulled by a rushed Sharpmaker job that I did to it.

  • lol, i love how u kinda made a rythem while dulling the knife lol, but i have a question, i have a tactical saw-back bowie, 9' blade. i have used sever al stones and different sharpeners, but i cant get it to that nice, razor edge i want, its made of 1505 stainless steel, is it just a hard steel, or am i doing something wrong? love ur vids

  • you had a beat going there...and then the nails on the chalkboard took over

  • Hey Jeff my EDC knife has a nick in the blade could you show how to get them fixed

  • Cutlery lover, please do a video on how to sharpen an axe, i can manage with mine, but im pretty sure im not doing it right.

  • if you dont wont to damage the stone just use the edge of the stone?

  • @tbrowniscool That's a great point/idea.

  • Great vid jeff...too bad the only knife I own is a serrated steak knife! lol

  • Did u know Gavcoo is making your knife

  • 1:16 I Just threw up in my mouth!!

  • i have a gerber that had the tip snap off, so i had it ground to a tanto.

  • the one day i decide to wear headphones. ow.

  • 3:00 bonus marker review

  • At 1:13 it sounds like a song

  • believe in heros

  • 4:44 thats what she said

  • LOL... maximum trolling.

  • 1:20... finished yet? ...okayguy.jpg...

  • you monster

    jk

  • This reminds of the old school Jeff S. :3

  • Hey Jeff, you mentioned AXES, can you do a video demonstrating a sharp edge vs a dull edge on axes for wood chopping i think this is a very controversial discussion in witch one performers best. Thank you in advance!

  • @rappertass Wait, people say dull axes chop better? What the hell is the reasoning behind that? I thought people just didn't think sharpness mattered in an axe....

  • @rappertass Are you trying to chop wood or break it in half. I don't think it take a rocket scientist to know that the sharper the ax is the better it's going to chop. Now there's some debate about edge angles but that's a different topic.

  • @rappertass It would all depend on what type of axe you are using, what kind of wood you are chopping, and wich kind of cut you are making with the axe.....

Your statement is equaled to saying, 'whats the best edge for knives' obviously it fucking depends on what your cutting and what kind of knife you are using geez it doesnt take a rocket scientist guys.

  • Jeff can you do an axe sharpening video please?

  • 2:30 cmon dude u dont have to explain that

  • ok, so let me get this straight, the whold point of this video is, if your kinfe tip is dull, sharpen the kinfe tip? genius!

  • 1:15

    I cringed so hard.

  • @Nitzlplix me too. that was torture on the knife and me lol

  • METALLLLL

    \m/ -_- \m/

    ☣☣☣☣☣☣

  • Thanks for the helpful video. It's always good to see a process demonstrated even when you sorta know how it's supposed to be done.

  • Jesus can't save you from that horrible smell of that OfficeMax Marker.

  • @cutlerylover how do you know what knifes to trust if they will fold on you or not?? i was cut doing something like this once and i havent really went near a knife since then (about 3 months), i know, pretty lame lol but is there like a test you can do with the knife that wont cut you to tell if the lock is strong??

  • You are sharpenin machine brohh

  • i took off the top coating on my crkt thunderbolt and it looks much better in my openion. and im working on doing it with the other ground edges

  • I'm still LOLing from the Dont Piss Me Off hot sauce.

  • I assume this will work on a blade I broke about an 1/8 inch or so off of the tip?

  • The first part of that video made me cringe...

  • You've received this knife as a gift from a fan - didn't you?

What did he do to you, that you've decided to use his present to be "tortured" so bad in front of everyone?

  • @vitopetre I delled the edge then sharpened it, I dulled the tip then sharpened it, whats the problem? I didnt snap it in half or anything I do mention its my favorite beater knife

  • @cutlerylover

Most likely you're right and the guy, who gave this knife to you is totaly fine with it.

But I've experienced, that some people feel really hurt, when you treat their present badly. It might be a cheap knife, but maybe the guy, who gave it to you, hasn't got much money and wanted to give you the best thing he can afford...

Just to be sure not to hurt the feelings of the guy, who devoted this kinfe to you, I would always rather use a cheap knife, that wasn't a gift...

  • @vitopetre the person who gave me this knife was the owner of customkillergrips and couldn't be anymore smitten to see it being used

  • @cutlerylover

First of all I want to say, that you are a really great guy and that I never wanted to offend you or anything - you do your thing your way and that is the best and only way!

Secondly I should've thought about the fact, that you know the guy who gave it to you quite well but I didn't.

I just wrote down what I thought while I watched your video, so sorry if I got on your nerves...

P.S.: Since I'm not a native English speaker, I'm not so sure about what you mean by "smitten"...

  • @vitopetre Smitten means he was happy to see it used.

  • @cutlerylover i think the person who gave it as a gift would be more than glad to have it used in a CL video, as it was someone who likes the videos enough to send him a knife anyway

  • @vitopetre I think Jeff mentioned this knife before as a cheap knife. The person who sent it to him probably knew that it would likely set in a drawer somewhere and collect dust instead of be part of Jeff's array of every day use knives. That being said, he's probably really happy to see that Jeff is getting such good use out of it.

  • hey jeff, i just want to know where i can get your exact knife, but without the "cutlerylover" handle?

  • dry whet stone?

  • Thanks Jeff , I have been wanting to do this to the tip on my Bear Grylls Scout folder and i just didn't know how. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for the tip Jeff. Lol.

  • So what do u call that type of stone?

  • Nice dude what's your main sharpening system that u use to get a razors edge

  • Jeff: You made a lame pun and said "No pun intended." You immediately said afterwards, "Ok, there was a pun intended." Nobody called you out on that. Should we be worried? Are you hearing voices?

:P Jeff, every time you make a video on sharpening, I wanna take a 3-hour cold shower, followed by some aggressive knife-sharpening. At least it keeps my knives sharp as razors!

  • Dear Jeff, can you do an edc update? I would enjoy to see what your carrying nowadays. Thanks.

  • There's a lesson to be learned in all of this: If you send Jeff a knife and don't want him to use it for "demonstrations" Make sure it's a damn good one! lol

  • PROTIP. dont watch this vid with headphones in...

  • didn't watch the video, don't have time. HOWEVER, Jeff, my friend, i still love you.

  • I think watching you dull that tip made me cringe more then then the sound of the knife tip being dulled.

  • shouldn't you be using a clamp or something? it looks like if you even slip a little bit you could really hurt your self if you go maybe to fast or god knows what.. just saying looks a little dangerous..

  • looks like your left hand could use a glove as much, if not more, than the right ;)

  • Jeff, im having problems, my tip snapped off on my beater ,and now its dull,

  • @cutlerylover geez you look dangerous during most of this vid. I know it can be dangerous enough doing the sharpening like you did under ideal circumstances, but it's quite amazing you haven't poked, slipped, or sliced something while trying to film that through the camera. You sir are a true sport. Btw thanks for the vid!

  • 1:16 hurt my soul....

  • the guy who gave it to him is probably screaming XD

  • i loving this series of knife maintenence videos! btw, im not sure if you know, but to resurface your stone all you need to do is go in your driveway, splash some water on the ground, and in a circular motion grind the stone down until its flat again...i had to do this cuz i made the mistake of doing this on a good stone lol also id check dollar stores cuz they have cheap stones there too that arent too bad

  • Love the sharpening videos man!

I'm really new to sharpening so I really appreciate the tips. (no pun intended) So when the time comes that I do have to sharpen one of my knives I will take another look at some of these videos. = )

  • I did this with my Spyderco, Civilian(VG-10). What a task.

  • i almost cried watching you dull that knife...

  • do you use an electric or regular knife to carve turkey?

  • Do you know any good stones that won't break the bank??

  • Almost stabbed yourself there

  • hey jeff when will you quit your tobacco smoking habit

  • poopdick

  • AHHHGGGGHHHHHGHHH!

  • great video, i'll be doing this on my buck 119. why dont you show us how to sharpen a swedge in your next vid?

  • @550ParacordGuy same as any edge just go rough to start then once you have an actual edge continue to desired sharpness

  • @550ParacordGuy Great minds think alike! soon as I read the title, my mind went straight to my 119.

  • A knife related video?? What is this, 2008? lol

  • how do you sharpen a tanto style blade

  • @MrAlphasierra007

Go back, Im sure Jeff has one.

Pretty simple really - sharpen it like it has two distinct blades, being careful not to roll over the corner, as it will round out.

  • @Benny1581 Thanks

  • 1:15 Jeff accidently writtes music.... of horror.

  • Well that's a pretty good "tip," Jeff. Get the "point?"

  • @BionicDemon lol worst corniest joke ever

  • @yoohoofan13 its from a song that I happened to be listening to. and yea ik Iol

  • Anytime i break the tip off a knife i much prefer to just take away the actual edge than grind the spine away...

  • 1:05 "Nah, he's just bluffin'".

1:15"No, NOOOO! The Horror! THE HORROR! MAKE IT STOP!"

  • that hurt my ears and eyes

  • everytime you stabbed the sharpening stone, was like a jab to my heart....

    good video though! =D

  • what did that knife ever do to you!?!!? jk good vid..

  • Use the cheap walmart next time >_< so we don't have to watch you kill your knife (for the second time) even though you bring it back to life :P

  • i usually just use my bastard file then use my diamond rod after to clean it up.

  • @FatGuyWithAKatana that works too

  • @cutlerylover you just went to town on that blade

  • I use the side portion of the stone to avoid extra wear on the top portion.

  • your a wizard harry

  • knife abuser.. haha jk

  • that was so cool :)

  • jeff what should i use for my spyderco tenacious?!?!?

  • i like the beat you made at 1:19.

  • boobs :)

  • :) tits

  • @SickCorruption (.)(.)

  • @397pollo ( . Y . )
