  • Nice piece of kit.....not sure you need the rose joint, they are elegant but expensive. Could be a pin & a hole. if you kept the pin in line with the main supporting bolt, 'cos from what I understand you don't need three axes movement at that point, OK the assembly would be a little less elegant, but you'd save dollars & the associate degreening. As you have struts at the top, why not a few guy ropes at the bottom to take out the vibration under wind loadings.

  • Hi PFN & Roy

Looks great relating to the electronocs and mounting structure. I do have a concern relating the thr ground mast. and primary tube support supporting the the array. Looks a bit lacking to me and i base this observation on my own array which is simalar. I design my config to handle 100 mph winds 360 Vne.

I observed. the the array was pitching & yawing in the video, so there lie my conceren. Things need to move,

Are U going ti add a self tracker?

    Great stuff

    Bill

  • Hey PFN & Roy

    All my Best

  • How much energy/power went into making it?

    What is its life expectancy?

Will it output more power in its lifetime than was required to make it?

  • Good to see you back pfn

  • good to see you showing off your work ... been way too long ... hope all is well with you ...

  • Why didn't you mount them on top of your 5th wheel? Is it because you want to track the sun? Would the panels be durable enough on top of a trailer while traveling? I was thinking it might be useful to have a solar bed cover for a pickup - It could do the work the alternator normally does.

  • @joewilder My guess would be that he uses it as an umbrella. Now he has electricity and shade. Shade is a rare thing in the desert. But that is just a wild guess.....lol

    Greets, iT

  • Good to see you back! The biggest worry I would have with that is wind.
