  • Awesome tutorial. Works great in 1.1 since you dont have to worry about retilling soil.

  • @123TheMuffinMan321 Ty. However, this change made it less efficent, as it is designed to counter the farmland removal. You could probably remove the sticky piston and part of the redstone, and get somewhat efficient.

  • so this is easy?

  • Is this music from the game BLUR? It's such an awesome track. This is way to complicated for me. It's awesome, but i am a noob when it comes to redstone. I will try it out though.

  • just make it fucking complicated

  • The farmland is pointless, melons and pumpkins grows on dirt in 1.1

  • @rupluttaja Obviously you don't know that this video was made in 1.8.1.

    Good day.

  • the part about the seeds wasnt right, 1 seed has a time till it grows a melon, so have 2 dirt next to it is pointless.

  • @desox2009 That's not true. The time it takes for a seed to produce a melon depends on the amount of possible spots for melons to grow on. With only 1 spot it takes at least 4 times longer for a single melon to grow than with 4 spots. Plus, having more farmland around the seed (pre 1.1) further decreases the time needed.

Not sure if any of that has changed in 1.1 though.

  • @micromancero oh...well ok than, than all those comments about my bad farms (that i made with 1 seed that has 4 places) failed lol.

  • how does it reload by itself?

  • @TheDaveyyo No need to. (Pre 1.1) the only thing that needed to be reset when harvesting with a piston crusher was the farmland. This design made it possible to keep the farmland at the process. So no reloading needed in the first place.

  • Space

  • Too complicated fo a farm. I made one better than this with 1/100 of the pace

  • @DMKILLER11 I doubt it.

  • mehh just gimme 1.1

    no tilling needed

  • you got a favorite!

  • Wats the x axis ????

  • Awesome..........................

  • Well fuck that

  • Genius!

  • what is the blue block?

  • @inFamousCeRea1 Lapis Lazuli. You can use any solid block instead (Stone, Cobblestone, Wood, Dirt, ...).

  • @micromancero thank you!

this is awesome. but how exactly does the dirt getre-tilled?

  • @inFamousCeRea1 no need to. as you can see @ 1:10 the farmland wont turn to dirt in the first place.

  • You sir, have just earned a sub!

  • Doesnet work in 1.0.0

  • @LumZumX It does.

  • @micromancero

Come on to my server and help me please

  • WTF! Can somebody explain wtf its BUD,Y axis,X axis...I DONT KNOW ANYTHING WHAT YOU SAY!!! So i download the map...

  • @MrsGodzillaChannel BUD= block update detector, the redstone activates when a block next to it gets an update, like something growing there.

x and y(z in minecraft) axis is just like from math class, one direction gets checked before it goes to the next row.

  • is this patched? doesnt seem to work for me

  • @mc1595 works totally fine for me, on smp even.

  • @Nighthawkusa hmm..does the water flow on the x axis, or y? cause i have the water on xaxis right now and it doesnt seem to work. the farmland updates to soil every time, even when i try to just till it.

  • @mc1595 it flows along the x-axis, yes. I guess make sure you have water with-in 4 blocks of the soil so it doesn't turn back just from sitting there? if the BUD is working, that's the only thing I can think of..

  • @Nighthawkusa oh nvm i found out what was wrong.. i feel so stupid... the piston holding the farmland was one block higher than it was supposed to be. i kept overlooking that because i was makin sure the redstone was right..

  • I gave you some credit on my new vid for providing this awsome tut, please check it out and leave something :)

    /watch?v=TLgXqpd4SUU&

  • whats the name of the music? :)

  • When the piston that breaks the watermelon breaks the watermelon, the soil becomes dirt again

  • @micromancero I figured out a way to improve the efficiency of this design! Put a water source right under the piston that breaks the fruit and a glass block under that to protect the redstone. When the farmland drops down the water has very short time to push items on it but with enough cycles the items get pushed out. Just make sure the canal's water doesn't have more pushing power, it should be lower or the source further. To improve this you should have a manual way to trigger all the BUDs.

  • @zelfana Sounds interesting. I'll give it a try as I'm planning to do a follow up vid during the holidays.

Thanks for all the feedback =)

  • @micromancero For the manual trigger you can put a redstone line under the block you place next to the BUD piston at 2:10 and trigger it with a button. This will activate the BUD only when the power goes off so it won't trigger twice and the BUD will still work normally.

  • @zelfana After some testing it would seem that the items don't get pushed by the short water current in further than the nearest module. But if you can get the BUD stuck with the manual switch it would probably work. I'll continue testing and reply if I figure it out.

  • @zelfana So you mean triggering the BUD with a different Block Update?

Good find. I have a more practicable solution though:

Connect a Redstone Wire to the rear Torch (the one that powers the block with the anti-repeater bug torch). As long as this line is ON, the Melon will stay there with the farmland lowered. As soon as you turn the line OFF (eg with a button), the melon will get crushed, BUD resets and the farmland gets pushed up again. Allows turning the automatic harvest off too

  • @micromancero I figured a different way to do the thing. It takes up a lot of room, though. I made a pulse sustainer triggered by the rear torch that is normally off which will cut the power to the farmland piston via a sticky piston pushing a block in the way of the redstone. You will also need to have another wire from the torch to that sticky piston to have it extend instantly or the farmland reverts to dirt because the pulse sustainer needs one tick to activate (uses a piston).

  • @zelfana The pulse sustainer (from the wiki) needs to have at least 8 ticks of delay to have the water flowing long enough because of things updating slower at a distance. And well, this makes it fully automatic, too, at the cost of more space required. But at least it makes it more efficient.

  • @zelfana Hum, futher testing shows that the delay needs to be at least 20 ticks. Oh well, doesn't hurt much, just 3 more repeaters. The fruit can't grow again in that time anyway.

  • @zelfana Just to be sure, I have the delay at 28 ticks now. To disable the farm you can power the line cutting sticky piston(s).

  • @micromancero I used your suggestion on how to disable the farm and "perfected" my current design. The farm is still modular but it uses a bit more room, 9 more blocks away from the central canal horizontally. The disabling wire needs some space under the pulse sustainer but that space should be there anyway because of the piston under the farmland.

  • You should probably update your description, pumpkin seeds can be crafted from pumpkins now. 1 pumpkin = 4 pumpkin seeds

  • MISA's TexturePack! yay!

  • This is really weird. I've been making it and it seems to work, but I really wonder why it works. It looks like a bug to me.

I think it would be great if Mojang created sensors to detect blocks and/or avatars and send out an electrical signal.

  • Awesome dude, great set up. I was going to go old fashioned and just put up with retilling until I saw this video.

BTW what texture pack is that?

  • YAY NEVER NEED RETILLING

  • The next level of minecraft.

  • why is it that you put weed betwin the melonplant and the wather??

why not just place the wather right next to the seed?

  • @mathias4747 The more farmland blocks you have around your seed (ie. your seeds farmblock), the faster the spawning rate will be. The wheat seeds on that farmland prevent melons from spawning there (which would jam your farm) while keeping the farmland block alive.

  • Doesn't seem to be working in SMP =/

  • @SpartanMk1 It should be working. What exactly doesn't work?

  • @SpartanMk1 Doesn't work because u are building it along Z-Axis

  • It doesnt work in 1.9

  • @vc132811 It does. Works in 1.0.0 as well.

  • One of the smartest things I've seen in a while

  • ok every time i try to put down a seed it breaks help!

  • @Wabblestudios what breaks? the seed is supposed to be planted in the center. Or do you mean the farmland breaks whenever the seed spawns a melon?

  • @micromancero no the seed like breaks. right when its planted it breaks off

  • amazing

  • Does it just push the melon/pumpkin off the soil so fast that it doesn't have time to actually un-hoe the soil?

  • @eternalninja0 kinda.. There's no way to instantly destroy the melon without turning the farmland back (that I know of). But it's possible to pull the farmland down before it turns the dirt giving the crushing piston some time before the farmland comes back up. That's what this design does.

  • @micromancero That's pretty sweet. Good

    find!

  • W O W !!

  • Fucking redstone. How does it work?

  • @Mushufasa1 Its very simple actually...

  • Good gracious that music is attrocious! What possesses people to add garbage music to their non-music related videos? And it is hard to follow the first time through with the custom textures.

Still, I thank you for taking the time to share and having concise directions along the way. Other than the two criticisms above, excellent excellent!

  • @MrMaligner There's a mute button. Use it ;) You could even play back your own music while watching this vid.

You are probably right about the textures though. Next time I'll use the default ones.

  • @micromancero

    Misa's :D my favorite tp :)

  • which you cou;ld show me in normal texture pack, no idea what blocks are

  • Someone did it before, but these design include some good improvements that increase the efficiency and fix some bugs, congratulations.

  • Dam that look hard to make but awesome

  • Thank you Buddha xD.

    l

    l Buddhist.

    l

v This did work for me.Didn't know it was a bug.

  • if i do this the dirt be normal...

  • Ima build this after I make the slime farm for the sticky pistons only trouble is figureing out which chunk the slimes spawn in since its in an abandoned mine

  • My farmland does gets destroyed and i dont know why

  • how do I know if I'm on the X axis

  • @minimonkeyplay when you move in one direction (or the opposite of it), only your X-coordinate (see F3 screen) changes.

  • @micromancero You are a friggin genius no sarcasm at all, great compactness for a BUD harvester

  • @00:18 The pigs saying:

Let me in and have some of your melons BI***

  • nice vid that really helped me

  • what are the blue blocks

  • @GiggerMan7 That's the new Lapis Lazuli texture from Misas Texture Pack. You can use any solid block instead.

  • @micromancero I built this and my farmland does not stay farmland I am on 1.8 the bug works everything works except my farmland.the only mod I'm using is better than wolves for a hopper to catch it all.

  • @minimonkeyplay @igmac1211 Are you sure you built it along the right axis? Try rotating the design by 90° and see if it works then. Also make sure you placed the redstone wire to the sticky piston the right way. See 5:10 . If that doesn't help, feel free to send me your world or server IP and I'll take a look at it.

  • I was thinking of building this, then I saw the size, and gave up :D

  • you lost me at the ummm, beginning

  • Aka the mating place of the Berties.

  • Nice one;-) Thanx for sharing and well explained!

  • This isn't a pumpkin farm though. You have to replant those.

  • this design is ingenious

  • i dont get it i copyd everything he did but when i place and take away the wattermelon it doesent update the block...?

  • instead of doing a mirror image, this would be much more compact to just have 1 possible loaction for the melon to grow on.

  • @MinecraftbyDoug Having two spots to grow from one single seed is just as effective as having two seeds with one spot each. However, for this to be true, you'd need the same amount of farmland around each seed as the melons grow faster the more farmland there is around the seed. With the mirrored design you have 3 farmland blocks around. With a simple non-mirrored design you'll end up with two. So unless you optimize the design to have more farmland, the mirrored design is more efficient.

  • @micromancero I just built 1 that is mirrored but 1 more offset with 2 sprouts. are you saying this will give me no extra yeild?

  • @MinecraftbyDoug So you got 2 sprouts right next to each other in the middle? In that case, the yield will be exactly the same if you have 2 farmland blocks with wheat.

  • You sir, are a mad genius.

  • Comment removed

  • how do you find the x-axis?

  • @MrCodskillz hit F3 and walk straight in any of the four directions. If only your X coordinates are changing, you're walking along the X-Axis.

  • @micromancero but then couldn't every block be the x-axis?

  • @MrCodskillz The x-axis isn't a block. For the farm, just make sure that when you're looking along the central stream it says f:1 or f:3 below the f3-coordinates which indicates that you're looking north or south (ie. along the x-axis)

  • @micromancero so place the piston facing north or south?

  • @MrCodskillz If you're talking about the BUD's sticky piston it must be facing east or west since it must be built north or south to the melon block.

As I said, just find one of the directions where only your X-coordinate changes when walking. Along that direction you can build a water canal and then build the modules right next to the canal, just like I did in the beginning of the video.

  • Great, but not really resource-friendly :/

  • when i save at 0:35 all i can say is fuck melons

  • I want to make this on my SMP server, but the lag it would cause would be enormous.

  • @Aeltrius It's not as performance eating as it may look like. It takes about 12 minutes in average for a melon/pumpkin to grow for each module, at which point three pistons are triggered. That's it. So unless you're going to oversize it, I'd worry much more about redstone clocks, water gates attached to a clock etc.

  • @micromancero This server is underpowered to begin with. They moved to a smaller, cheaper server due to lack of interest but then 1.8 happened and now we average 10-12 people online at one time. It lags even when redstone and water/lava flows are turned off.

  • GJ m8 ty soo awsome!

  • Omg how did you find all that stuff to make it?

  • @superstrongman1000 @defspike246 thanks. I observed the mechanics and was convinced I needed a BUD for this to work instantly and that I needed to pull the farmland down. I also peeked into the source code to realize I needed to build it along the X-Axis. Didn't work though, because I had a non-instant BUD. Luckily, I found Sethblings BUD and knew (thanks to TaviRider's instant wire stuff), that the BUD with the retracting piston like this would be instant. Then I modified it slightly.

  • u r awesome man! how did u realized that z axis is shit omg? :D very nice!

  • Idk what to say.

  • OMG

  • @MrMuffin007 @vv41zx @liamwitdre Make sure you got the axis thing right. The BUD's sticky piston must be north or south of the melon block. So for example, if it was at coordinates (X:10, Y:60, Z:10), the sticky piston would either need to be at (X:9, Y:60, Z:10) or at (X:11, Y:60, Z:10), but not at (X:10, Y:60, Z:9) or (X:10, Y:60, Z:11).

You can also send me your world or server IP and I'll take a look at it.

  • Comment removed

  • @micromancero Yeh it is definitely along the correct axis since only my x-axis changes when following the river and to make sure I done what you said, i don't think that is the problem. Also it doesn't change after a few minutes like usual, its a few hours for me.

  • @micromancero Thx I get it now and it works:O

  • some one who actually knows what automatic means???

  • Comment removed

  • @liamwitdre Yes, it works just as well, as you can see in the video. If you already have some from 1.8 (pre I think) you're fine. New ones won't be generated in your world while playing 1.8.1. I think it'll be fixed in 1.9 though.

  • Comment removed

  • great vid but the part of the x-axis was a bit unclear for me could you next time show f3 that would help alot thx wat a second because pumkins and melons only use 1 of the 2 spaces you could use 1 BUD instead right?

  • @vv41zx You can use only 1 BUD (half of the module), but the way melon/pumpkin spawning works, you'll only get up to half as much melons/pumpkins. However, if you really want to go with it, you should keep the farmland block (and place wheat there like on the block behind), otherwise you'll get even less spawns.

  • great vid but the part of the x-axis was a bit unclear for me could you next time show f3 that would help alot thx

  • Does melons spawn only to farmland and not to dirt?

  • @TheReedim yes it only spawns on Hoe'd dirt

  • why wont mine work?... everytime mine does it it destroys the farmland. and I promise you I made it EXACTLY like yours step by step and I checked over it 3 times to make sure it was exact. why does it destroy the farm land everytime???

  • @epsguy23 i've noticed that too, it wont stay as tilled land, i've tried re-doing the redstone connections; replacing the dirt; replacing the sticky piston and so on and i cannot find anything that keeps it tilled

  • This hurt my head alot.. I would try it but my brain can't handle the bad music and no voice to make it easy xD

  • Nice, spammed te sub button !!

  • Nice, spammed te sub button !!

  • 2 words: FUCKING EPIC!

  • it's better than mine, cause it works everywhere.( although the design needs m0re space). Great invention!

  • You are a genious! Ive been looking for a design like this!!

  • whats the texture pack if i may ask?

  • How does the seeds part of it work, do i just plant the watermelon seed in the middle and the wheat behind it and let it go? Also does it replant automatically?

sorry i'm pretty new to farming on minecraft :p

  • @liamwitdre Yeah, you can wait for them to grow. It'll take some time for the seed to grow fully though, during which time you get no melons/pumpkins. By using bone meal on the seeds, you won't have to wait. You don't need to use bone meal on the wheat however.

There's no need to replant. The fully grown seeds will spawn melons/pumpkins automatically after a while, as long as there's no other melon/pumpkin next to it. Hence the automatic crushing device.

  • @micromancero Thankyou very much just tested it out and it works like a charm. Probably one of the best if not the best invention on minecraft =)

  • @micromancero Nice Video! But i've got a question! I'm playing on SMP and i copyed your farm into our world via mc edit. But everytime the Piston is pulling a melon/pumpkin the farmland turns into dirt again! Please help.

  • sub, i luv all of your vids and they always work great!!!!!

  • Omg. If anyone could find a way to do this without using a bug (Yes, BUD's are a bug), you will get my sub and also trillions of diamonds. (No, just 1. :P)

  • i built one and it works great, aside from the fact that melons won't grow quickly!

  • Genius. You sir have gained a sub.

  • Txt pack ? =}

  • @derreiche123 Misas Realistic

  • This is one of the Coolest andmost complicated machine ive ever seen

  • I'll stick to eating Steak ahhhthanku

  • too bad you can't get pumpkin seeds in 1.8.1 unless playing creative

  • @cory1337 Mineshafts :3

  • @therealattacka no there is no pumpkin seeds generated in mineshafts 1.8.1 only 1.9 pre release

  • does this work on a multiplayer server?

  • @JxVink Yes

  • freaking amazing... will definitely will be thinking of building this in the town

  • wow, nice!

my thought was to put a redstone torch under the farmland block, because farmland will act like glass, so if it turns to dirt, it will send a redstone signal, but this is much better! great find!

  • but i need to get seeds for that? everytime it harvests?

  • @Edviuzzz No, that's the whole point. You don't need to do anything once you set this up, except collecting the items.

  • @micromancero omg cool

  • What really needs to be started is the documentation of the precise order and relations of updates among blocks. This kind of information is obviously essential to manipulating the mechanics of the game, yet it's nowhere to be found except distributed in a chaotic fashion in various youtube videos.

  • @techh10 looks like Misa's HD Pack to me.

  • @nescirian yep
