no not poisonous but its good for it to hunt for crickets and grass hoppers but peas will make it less agressive

Their not poisonus or venomous. Their omnivours. Their not endangered and it's not being tortured. Some commenters are freaking dumb. If their pissed they'll let you know, they'll pinch. I'm not sure about biting though. And if their really annoyed with you it will fly away.

#1. Praying Mantids are far from poisonous, or venomous. They are harmless to humans, only beneficial.

#2. Praying Mantids are omnivores, they eat bugs for the protein, and they know water is in greens, so this one was trying to drink.

#3. If all needs are met, a Praying Mantis can thrive and live way beyond their normal life range within an urban home. Just do some minor research.

First off, FEEDING the mantis isnt torture !

I feed mine fruits like grapes and bananas as well as fruit flies and crickets...

Second thing, Giant Shields Mantis arent endangered, you can order there eggs from the internet..

Lol why would you eat the mantis? Poison has to be consumed, venomous is the word you are looking for, venom has to go into your blood to kill you.

And you should let it go, you should never take an animal out of it's natural habitat and if it is injured call professionals to remove it and care for it.

i've never heard of mantids eating anything other than other insects, they are usually strictly carnivorous. looks like you've found a rare vegetarian species!
