The Island itself is circled by an ancient ditch and mound, indicating some sort of settlement or religious centre. All in all, Looe Island is a fascinating, and historic location, loved by all. Hopefully, the Time team Dig will be the first of many. Thanks.
Time Team made a few suprising discoveries. The most important backs up something the people of Looe had hoped, for many decades; that being the fact that the two chapels (one on the mainland, one on the Island) would have both existed (for a short time), making Looe a very important location to the Celto-Christians and those who followed. Evidence of Bronze Age activity was also found.
Thank you so much for sharing. Brings back *many* happy memories of visits and holidays to the area. I used to have family in Looe, on the Hanofore. Holidays were spent there and when I left for home, always longed to be back there! I visited the island I think on 3 occasions, the last I suppose must have been in 2003 when I met Babs in the Island House and signed the guestbook! I had no idea Time Team investigated the island this year, I love that show I wonder what they found?

I have the sisters two books and their wonderful reminder of a very special and beautiful place. I'll always have a fondness and attachment to Looe!

My greatest dream is to visit Looe and follow in the footsteps of Nigel Danvers. Thank you so much for your videos ... they are absolutely beautiful.
