  • You guys want a job? Contac me please ;)

  • Unreal Engine interactive foliage - 2010

    Cryengine 3 interactive foliage - 2007

Zelda: Wind Waker interactive foliage - 2001

    NINTENDO WINS!

  • @StaleKeish Wind Waker wasnt released until March of 2003

  • @boombaby16 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- - -oh well... either way. Not trying to be a fanboy, cuz I actually am a fan of UE and CE, but I just like Zelda so much. Good job of proving me wrong, btw.

  • Like read dead redemption, that had interactive foliage.

  • CryEngine 2 did this better in 2007. Heh.

  • @Brygelsmack But required a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or greater to run... Seeming the 8800 GT was released around October 2007, it's just laughable.

  • @Brygelsmack Well. noob

  • @Danuxsy: Umadbro?

  • @molo265 no i dont mean crappy shit like manhunt... bb

  • Hey is it possible for that foliage to burn?

    Like in farcry 3?

What would you need to do to do that?

  • @343GuiltysparkHALO a hell of alot of time and coding probably

  • @hywelwt123 Silent hill and resident evil there was games before the films came out ... but that was monsters and zombies i just want a game where you actually play i normal man who becomes a serial killer... and look at Spiderman Harry potter Bad guys 1-2 Alone in the dark Transformers... there always films who become games but NO ONE think about make a game where are you playing a real serial killer and i think that this would be great

  • @Roqxxx Certainly, udk can pretty much make any type of game, the world is your oyster. :)

  • @Roqxxx dude... are u school murderer??? and actually there are games like that but i think they are banned from most of the countries.

  • @Roqxxx ye :)

  • @Hywelwt123 jea but my question is can i create a game like that with UDK? i mean think about this a game like Gta IV But you are playing a serial killer in youre secret home and you have to kill people you choose in a city i just mean some whats like a Horror movie / scream or Texas chainsaw massacre But Where are you acually Play as Leatherface or someone new... cause the rights i know just as a serial killer ^^ idk why but i miss games where are you play as the badguy ...

  • @hywelwt123 fucking nice video .... i reallyyy want a horror game where you are playing someone like leatherface, scream or jason !!!! need a real game whats like Gta IV mixed with silent hill or postal But not with zombies or monster shit just with human charakters and but as a serial killer in open world style ! my question is do you know a programm or some engine what i can use for create a game like that what i write there? i dont want to sell this game than i just want use it for my own

  • @Roqxxx Can't go wrong with UDK, best graphics for a free to use games engine. Does take a while to learn but it's all part of the fun.

  • lol that would be great for an ambush of some sort

  • chingon =)

  • looks very cool to me

  • tutorial please !!!!!!! O-O

  • It goes thought the plants like a ghost. There is no interactivity. Looks like console garbage.

  • very nice, i'd imagine some chase scenes cutscenes where the camera follows from above, l4d style lol

  • I bet the Unreal Engine 3 can do everything that the CryEngine 2 can and do it better.

  • @R4Zy3L no it can't, Cry Engine 1 could handle 1.6 billion tris and 2 is even better. Unreal starts to choke up at 20 mill

  • @69gothix69 I think you're confusing triangles with vertices.

  • @WTFDanger Hehe no, I should clarify it though.

A graduate from my program works at Crytek, he said their largest scene used 1.6 billion tris.

I use UDK, and for me performance starts to slow down after I reach 20 mill tris. Is he bullshiting me, I don't know, but whats the point? Cryengine is visibly one of the best engine out there...

  • looks good still alittle boxy in the foliage but great job 5/5

  • Damn, this is amazing... Any game created with this?

  • cool

  • I've got one question:

    How did you do that?

  • What is the performance like?(frames per second)

  • @MrSean490 From what I understand there is practically no performance hit with using interactive meshes over normal static meshes.

  • @Hywelwt123 From a programming standpoint they are practically alike, however unlike static meshes, they do use some (albeit low-cost) physics code.

  • @Tigerbeetweenie Good to know, thanks!

  • looks pretty awesome but I bet it won't run on an average pc.

  • @Boogeymangr It actually has a really low performance cost :)

  • @Hywelwt123 thats cool, looks awsome and dont need much ;-)

  • @Boogeymangr I can remember an old DirectX 10 Snake demo that featured interactive grass, with little to no performance hit :)

  • @MouthofSaurons well yeah but add that to explosions and interactive shadows.

still I'd love to see it as a graphics option in a game.

  • @Boogeymangr Its simple vertex shader code that do not cost to much power . Even the old consoles like x360 and ps3 can run this with no probs .

  • @Boogeymangr Im sure someone will script some LOD/distance sliders in. Shouldn't be too hard...

  • Hello guys again, I just wanna tell you, how did he create this awesome environment. It's really easy, just simpli go to content browser, select the mesh you want to be the foliage, and then simply click on the ground, load the mesh, and click on add interactive foliage. Isn't it simple?

  • looks great

  • My team mate created it with Maya & Mudbox, this is actually quite old now. I will upload some videos of the finished project. If your looking for an interactive vertex shader, have a look at the new April UDK demo level. Their vertex shaders are God like...

  • wow, it's awesome! and how did you create your character?

  • beautiful map,i'll have to include this foliage in my game.

  • Tutorial please? *puppy eyes* ^.^ very nice btw

  • Yep all the assets are mine and a friends.

  • @Hywelwt123 can i bee your FRIEND XD

  • Awesome work. Are all the graphical assets your creation?(minus the HUD)

  • PS. The wind movement has improved a lot over the older version. It's not as stale; very nice, again.

  • Hey man that's really good. There aren't too many games with interactive foliage. Keep up the good work.

  • Awesome, dude! I like the foliage textures, too. Hopefully I'll see that in some game/mod some time ;)
