  • Nice! Very nice!

  • There is an alternate universe where martin Scorsese is a successful actor and not a director. It is not as cool as our universe but it's still pretty cool

  • how come the rest of the movie isnt in english

  • Glad I took the time to watch, thanks!

  • I want to hold Japan in my arms and tell it that it will be alright.

  • There used to be a video on Youtube of this set to BRMC's Song As Sure As The Sun. It was beautiful, I cant seem to find it anymore :(

  • Vincent Van Gogh played by Martin Scorsese is excellent.

  • So Van Gogh was an Italian with an attitude problem?

  • terrible acting

  • what a nice dream

  • This is my favorite on THE DREAMS. I remember being totally shocked when the painting starts moving.

  • beautiful work ,,but as soon as you hear the u.s accent "why aaaaaaaaaint u paaaainting ? terrible

  • Poetry made movie :)!

  • @mrlovecraft26 i'm not agree with you that Poetry makes movie.

"it is a Jenius Art and passion that makes movie."

  • I like short film collection"夢.

These short films of collection are reported Japanese culture, tradition and aesthetics very well.

  • It is cool to see Martin Scorsese in a Kuroasawa film! Two masters of filmmaking apart of the same film! But it would have worked better if Scorsese was speaking French in his scenes! Van Gogh speaking in English just doesn't quite work! Great film all the same! Saw it when it was first released as a kid in 1990 at the Camera 3 in San Jose, California right around the time I saw Tampopo!

  • @Satchel334 I liked it, it was kind of ironic. It fit the character well. The NY accent added to the absurdity of Van Gogh. He was supposed to be a brillant insane.

  • If anybody can answer this i give them props but the song that is playing is from somewhere else and i cant figure it out any body know?

  • Its Chopin's "raindrop" prelude in D-flat Op.28 No.15

  • This is my favorite one.

  • thanks for posting it :)

  • I love it. Amazing, i mean the idea of stepping into a painting... of course you have to meet there Vincent, because he was there at that moment and painted! I like that idea of time travelling, i would like to meet him as well

  • Brilliant

  • martin scorsese as the artist himself!!

    nice!!

    5 starz

  • All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. Music is Prelude No. 15 in D-flat major by Chopin

  • No, actually it is Preludes op. 28 (No. 15 'Regentropfen' Des-Dur)

  • can anyone tell me that piano theme that was playing in this scence?

  • This is a brilliant sequence. One of the most beautiful ever filmed.

  • Can somebody please tell me the meaning of this movie? i like Kurosawa movies but this is meanless.

  • Bull. Well, it's understandable you don't understand all the sequences, like the first and second sequence, as they are very personal to him and I agree, the first few sequences are dull and seemingly meaningless, and they do have meaning, but it's hard to see. But this sequence, is very meaningful. It's powerful, just like the music and the paintings of the time, and it captures the true feeling of what it is to paint and inspire to paint.

  • ho sempre sognato di camminare nei quadri, ma come si chiama la musica di sottofondo?

  • Scorsese should act in more movies!!!

  • Lovelly

  • cut his ear off and threw it away??? he sent it to a hooker

  • Dove Volan, Codesti uccellacci ?,

A un Re a far la festa ?

    Un Folle, a seppellir ?

    OltreuomoPlus

    ITALIA

  • if you all like this so much, i would most definately recommend renting or buying the whole film on dvd, it really is very fantastic and breathtaking visually and by sound and story as well...

  • Very nicely done!

  • I loved Kurosawa' s works... I am a Filipino and I'm a fan of him

  • me too i'm actually i'm a student at dlsu and i'm watching this for a term paper for one of my classes

  • Es realmente maravilloso. Y la pieza de piano es de Chopin, Schubert no era tan complejo en sus composiciones...

  • I love the message of this dream. Namely, what it says about the creative process: work and inspiration.

  • Does anyone know the piano song being played in the background?

  • It's a piece by Franz Schubert, but I don't know which one off-hand.

  • Ok, it's actually the Chopin prelude op. 28 no. 15. But, the later section really sounds like Schubert.

  • Thank you!

  • I think the later section is also Chopin. It's a piece that illustrates heavy rain opposed to the first section that illustrates gentle rain.

The two sections are connected, I am sure.

  • This movie shows the beauty of both Gogh and Kurosawa

  • definitively myfavorite.

    the whole film is unbelievable

    thank you

  • Even on my tiny computer screen, I can still feel the beauty and wonder of this movie. This segment of Yume has always been my favorite, it shows Kurosawa's flexibility and inspiration as an artist himself.

  • I agree with butterflyhands, this is one of my favourite stories in the Dreams movie, (Which was overall a great film), the imagery is incredible, almost intoxicating.
