Atheists do not believe in God for the two reasons that Hitchens stated.
1. There isn't enough non-situational evidence for his existence.
AND
2. If he did existed, he would not be a being worthy of respect.
Notice how none of the reasons were "Because we want to go to Hell." or "We are agents of the Devil." Theists, all you have to do is prove to us that our ideas are false. You need to put thought into your attempts. Appeals to emotion, ignorance, and authority will not shake us one bit.

This close relationship was recognized by the early catholic chuch and was explained as "Plagerism by Anticipation". Christians frame the problem in the following terms: God predestines all things, yet man experiences real moral pressure and dilemma and competing claims (temptation vs duty) for his decisions. Free will is felt as a true experience and yet, ultimately, it is an illusion. Take a look at the New Testament, Romans chapter 9. God bless you.

Atheists do not believe in God for the two reasons that Hitchens stated.
1. There isn't enough non-situational evidence for his existence.
AND
2. If he did existed, he would not be a being worthy of respect.
Notice how none of the reasons were "Because we want to go to Hell." or "We are agents of the Devil." Theists, all you have to do is prove to us that our ideas are false. You need to put thought into your attempts. Appeals to emotion, ignorance, and authority will not shake us one bit.

@555pontifex If you knew about paganism you would know that the stories presented by those religeons parallel those of Jesus in the New Testament (the main difference being that they predate the christian gospels). This close relationship was recognized by the early catholic chuch and was explained as "Plagerism by Anticipation". This explaination states that Satan, knowing that Jesus was soon to come into the world, created these parallel stories in order to confuse the early christians.

Christians frame the problem in the following terms: God predestines all things, yet man experiences real moral pressure and dilemma and competing claims (temptation vs duty) for his decisions. Free will is felt as a true experience and yet, ultimately, it is an illusion. Take a look at the New Testament, Romans chapter 9. God bless you.

@hempartist420 Hitchens says those who claim to know the mind of a god encounter the problem that they cannot prove the existence of a creator. Look again at 1:25. I say a person claiming to know the mind of a god doesn't need to prove a creator. There is no requirement of a creation myth, except that Hitchens needs to denounce Young Earth Creationism. I say he's so weak he cannot beat anything but Young Earthers.

@hempartist420 Be fair and objective. View the clip at 1:25. You perceive Hitchens as an infallable diety. That's okay, provided you recognize your diefication of Hitchens as such. In America, we have freedom of religion and we respect one another's religious beliefs. 98% of all humans have some religious beliefs. Religion is as natural as sex for the human, and when it comes to Hitchens, athiests are like artists who fall in love with their models.
