For the show in Thunder Bay on April 12th, I just bought a ticket for $50. Great price for a great band that's been around for 20 years. I wish them another 20 years. Can't wait to see them, :-)
Have been and always will be a fan of Our Lady Peace, or "As If" as they were known as when first made.
I can't believe this song is only three years younger than me, but i can still remember hearing it throughout my youth. I can't believe the music that I love is being considered classic now.
Naveed is about a brother of a Muslim friend Raine had in school. His brother committed suicide and it is about his struggle to carry on in the world and not follow the same path. "It's hard when you reach for the floor" is a reference to the Muslim prayer where we put our face on the ground. I'm a Canadian convert to Islam and I never understood the full meaning of the song until now. Naveed is also written in Arabic or Farsi on Raine's guitar in this video.
Naveed is taken from the Persian name for the bearer of good news.
Naveed was also Raine's best friend. Naveed was Iranian and one day he told Raine the background (of the name) was a person referred to as a bearer of good news. 'Naveed' talked about someone scared to die, but at the same time interested in it. Naveed unexpectedly died from a gunshot wound. Raine took the concept of Naveed & placed it in the dark optimism of music. Naveed traveled the distance between mysticism & bitter reality
Lady Gaga teaches little girls to dress like whores and Justin Beiber who pushes a button on a keyboard and calls it music....both have something in common.....they both use thier image to sell thier crappy music.....a bunch of bubblegummers and bobbers!
@BitchBeTrollinHard she has talent, and a really great voice, but its overshadowed by the image she tries to convey, and thats why many people dont like her. Music should be about music, not the show... so much of the music today is mindless, and its sad to see someone like her waste her talent, but thats just my opinion
@faced12 accually its called the entertainment business for a reason... look at muse and kiss, both awesome live shows, kiss are terrible musicians but they put on a show, muse is unbelievably good musicians and they put on an awesome show. if music was just about the music, there would be no music videos, no concerts, no t-shirts
@BitchBeTrollinHard i know what your saying, i just think music should be about the music.. there would still be music videos, concerts, and t-shirts, just look at U2, they dont worry about dressing up in all sorts of costumes yet they still sell out stadiums
funny...I saw OLP in concert. Stood next to a girl who sung every song word for word. They closed with Naveed and she just stood there not singing a word.....BIZARRE!!!

Do you have the Naveed CD? The song is 5:43. How can a less than 5 minute video be the full version? I used to have the full version, I'll see if I can find it again.

@thewaffle - bang on man. Both OLP and I Mother Earth had killer potential and great intro albums. Edwin's head got too big and Raine became too concered with saving the world's poor. Ahhh.....wish bands would just continue what made them good initially - plug it in, turn it up, rock hard. Screw 'evolving'....just rock man. Naveed - in my top 5 albums.....
The fucking shittiest band ever!!!!! I've seen them live at a festival...they suck balls! By far the worst singer in the world...he sounds like someone's standing on a cat's throat...I'm sorry Canada put this shit noise out for the rest of the country to hear.
@zereoue Why do people even mention that over marketed name in the presence of music?¿? companies prob spent a couple million so that the name would spread like an infection and you're just helping spread the cancer.
This song sucks, I like the meaning though. Just my opinion. My favorite three songs from OLP is 1. Anybody home 2. Superman's dead 3. Theif/Not enough
@erick103 Rich the temp used to give solid BJ's backstage at Much, it was awesome! much better than that nigger, Master T. That asshole would NEVER Swallow!
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, then copy and paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die
This is one of the best songs ever, but underrated? I don't know, Rain (Sp?) was too cocky, and self absorbed and it turns people off, hence the decline in music quality and interest in the band. Edwin did the same thing to I Mother Earth and they had some great songs too, Used to Be Alright, Another Sunday, Rapsberry...
I don't like rock music but when i first saw this video back in the day it got me listening to our lady peace ever since and their pretty much the only rock group that i'll listen to. you can see the passion and sincerity in their music.
@judedAdudE77 you should probably google but I used to be really into OLP, from what I remember it was about a man (possibly even raine) letting his brother commit suicide, or his brother wanting to commit suicide.
