Two skydivers fell hundreds of feet to their deaths Thursday after colliding over Perris Valley Airport in Riverside County, authorities said.

The men's parachutes collided and deflated some 300 to 400 feet in the air, sending the men plummeting to the ground, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

e sheriff-coroner's office identified the men as Patrick James McGowan of Menifee and Christopher David Stasky of San Diego, both 42.

@wpniabbc ...Thats the only thing ppl remember,the accidents.Well,in USA including Puerto Rico we do about four millions (yes you herad me) 4,000,000 jumps a year with around 27-30 fatalities a year most of them by human errors.So if you do the math IT IS a safe sport.....JUMP !!!!!

I couldn't jump this jet at 2006 WFFC in Rantoul...I had broken my ankle on a bad landing...but I did get to jump it at SDC Summer Fest Boogie...Best jump I ever had. I arrived on the skydiving scene Post Quincy days. I hear the timeless Quincy days stories tho...nothing like the jump ships of those Boogies.

Why is it that skydiving videos are actually the worst to watch? I'd love to watch skydiving videos, but really why do all skydiving videos have to have punk, grunge, alternative rock soundtracks that are automatically going to turn off entire demographics of skydiving fans? As far as this video is concerned, what the hell was with the frame rate stutter effect? Was that supposed to somehow make this video better? How? Frustratingly unwatchable.

not really. Its about an halfway between LA and SD. Its near Lake Elsinore if you know where that is

all in all it takes maybe an hour to an hour and a half depending on how fast u drive and how clear I-15 is of traffic. But seriously, Lake Elsinore is a way better DZ than Perris in my opinion

Brilliant. I am doing  a RAPS Course in early 2009 and really hope that one day I can go to the US and fly this beast. Especially as I am a Commercial Aviation nut too.

Oh, memories! It was the best $300 lift ticket (that is me and my photog/videographer). I jumped that sucker at the unConventional Boogie in July 2007 in front of friends and family. I think it was like 4 minutes from takeoff to exit. Boy did I get slammed by the air upon exit!

Actually N127NK is a DC-9-21 series, used to fly for Allegiant. I think this is the last -21 series that's flying.

This DC-9-21 was originally delivered to SAS in 1969, where it served for many years with reg SE-DBO. Later sold and used by Allegiant air. Only 10 made, one other should be in flying condition for the company Thales Systèmes Aéroportés. 4 is stored, and the last 4 scrapped.

As a matter of fact, the FAA requires flight attendents just like any airline flight. The jumpmasters are cross-trained as attendents. They also serve a first-class meal on the way up. Since it's less than four minutes to altitude, though, the meal consists of a life-saver mint.
