actually, salt water is denser, hence its at the bottom. the lighter fresh water is from rainwater and does not flow.

in fact, many cenotes have very low incoming/outgoing flow rate. the hydrogen sulfide cloud is the same gas that make your farts (in bahasa indonesia: kentut) stink.

Since this video has surfaced, the verse has been applied here. To me it seems logical that the human writers of the Quran would try and explain brackish water or just salt water and fresh water in general. What doesn't seem logical to me is that Allah would divinely inspire someone to write about a Cenote in Mexico.
