  • Without freedom of speech there is no freedom of religion. Thus the person = slave to the state and the religion and the 'religion' is corrupted/fake. The only way for an expression of faith to have meaning separate from government/community compliance is to have assurance of free-speech.

  • YES, Because we don't live in a theocratic dictatorship.

  • Yes! Free speech trumps all. We're Americans!!!!

  • Si! Yes!!!

  • Hmmmm what about YES? freedom of speech ftw asswipe

  • I don't think public satire should be allowed. In private people should be free to say what they want to.

I'm no fan of religion, but because it can be easily abused by a corrupt media to avoid and dismiss real problems.

  • Italy is NOT a theocracy. No "special respect" for anybody. If you drive masses to vote one way or another, you can't just expect not being criticized, even on satirical ways, because of "your position". Which position??

  • @warugadar ...no one's beyond being lampooned OR being criticized...people aren't anymore special than ants or micro organisms...SO THERE!

  • Of course it should be completely allowed. Expecially now that religious leaders DO politics in television and drive the masses to voting one way or another, it would be just an unfair advantage that "for their position" they are immune to joking critics. And then? No more rational critics allowed? Or on scientific matters? Because of their position? Do we really want to return in the dark ages?

  • There should be no limiting it. Religion and religious leaders shouldn't be immune to satire and criticism. For the most part, freedom of speech has been the greatest enemy to religion.

  • Yeah o COURSE they should be allowed to be satiracal. I don't care what religion you're from the humane response to satire is not threatening to kill someone and that goes for everybody

  • God is big enough to take care of himself, I don't think he would need people to protect His name, or the names of his saints. Only insecure cults like Islam, feel the need to avenge their God.

  • no, it's about respect, the creator needs more than respect, like u go to anny place, you will have to, say in court, do you make fun of the judge?? I bet you wouldn't dare

  • So you are saying that god would over react because of what someone said? Please, If god didnt like what you said, he can easily do something about it, just as a judge would do.

  • you're right, he will,he will punish them, but again you have to respect me as a person who regards God who people make fun of because I worship him, because he's the creator

  • So its not about respecting god, its about respecting you.

  • 1st god;then me

  • Well if you say something stupid, then people are going to make satire of you, why shouldnt it be any diffrent for religious leaders?

  • Yeah but the judge fucking EXISTS.

  • Honestly...yes. There should always be a limit and I'm talking about good taste but satire is vital for any society. There are problems which can be exposed to public oppinion,in order to be considered, only through satire. Only saints can be left out of it...and as far as I'm concerned there aren't any left!
