  • hey man its me again do you like alpine over pioneer i like alpine but there not cheap not that a can't afraid them i can its just i'm trying to keep this project cheap hehe i love music like the 60's 70's 80's seya

  • @CoolTim44 Pioneer is okay, I use one in my truck. I prefer Alpine whenever possible as they have always impressed me with their build quality and longevity. You may want to look at the marine radios if there's a chance your box could get wet. I bought a marine cover for mine, but it won't fit as the 6.5" speakers are too large and won't allow for the cover over the radio

  • that is so cool dude i'm building me one too 23 in toolbox and Pioneer DEH-P9400BH

    Pioneer TS-A1684R A-Series 6 1/2" 4-Way 350 Watts

ill post it on youtube when i have it done in few weeks or days

    have a nice one seya

  • @CoolTim44

Awesome! Can't wait to see it! See my more recent video where I'm working on building a boombox out of a military-style case

    BigDWiz - OldSchoolStereo

  • @CoolTim44 Good deal, can't wait to see it!

  • great. nice project. thanks for sharing :)

  • how many time does it give in max volume?

  • Does it run only off of 12V battery, or does it also work off of 110V DC? I'm thinking of building one because most of today's "radios" suck so bad. Most radios are small with 3"inch speakers. The selection is terrible so that leaves the only option of building the monster I want.

  • @moofushu I have a "battery tender" charger connected to the battery so it can be continuously charged with 110V during playback. If I do one again, I'm going to use 4" or 5" mids, tweets and a single 6 or 8" subwoofer

  • now 2 questions:

    1. whats the name of the song

    2. how to connect the voltmeter to the circuit

  • @cantsolvesudokus

    1. Sam Cardon - Chelsea's Day

    2. In series with the 12v positive switch

  • How is the head unit wired to the battery?

  • @Huntabarnez I have the constant 12v positive going to the + terminal, ground going to - terminal then have the turn on going through a 12v lighted switch on the front of the boombox, which is also wired to the positive terminal

  • If you were to build another one. What kind of toolbox would you use. Be specific cause I really want to build one of these and all the boxes I see now dont have a flat front.

  • @baller908790 I really don't recommend using a toolbox if at all possible. It rattles at high volume and as you mentioned, it is difficult to find one with a flat front. I'd recommend building on with either birch or a wood/fiberglass combo to keep the weight down. This is what I'm planning for the next box.

  • @baller908790 ebay search: mi box boombox. That guy makes them.

  • Wow that's awesome! I bet you get alot of compliments when taking that around when you do your car stereo installations and stuff. I have a black & decker toolbox I was kinda thinking about putting a system into, but I'm not very good with all the cutouts lol. Did you ever find out the runtime with that battery? I run my 20 watt audio amplifier with one of those batterries.

  • @dannyywd1982I Thanks! See my other vid for the playback time. I got 4 hours at 3/4 volume with external speakers attached, so this is a worse case scenario.

  • Thanks for the info have you thought about doing one of the ice chest cooler boombox??

  • @Baloo275 Yes, I have one of these on my radar, but want to do my "old school" car stereo boombox first. There are some creative folks out there making these portable stereos...

  • how do you recharge the battery could you use a trickle charger ?

  • @Baloo275 I use a trickle charger "Battery Tender" type of charger. It works great.

  • What kind of battery are you using?

  • @408tank See my v1 of the build. It is a Powertron 12v 11ah sealed lead acid battery. I got it off ebay for around 26 dollars shipped.

  • you should install a computer power supply for your main power and use the battery as a backup/memory. this is the way i have my setup in the garage running off a 400w power supply. alpine hu with mb quart components.

  • @sullengirl99 In my initial tests, I did use a 500w power supply with a 25A 12v rail, but something happened to the power supply and I'm only getting 10v from this rail now. I didn't want to chance it with another 60 dollar power supply when the batteries are only 25 bucks. Which brand P/S are you using?

  • @bigdwiz

Dynex Model: DX-400WPS from Best Buy. Its been stable for a while but its not running as powerful of a HU as yours. i just have a cda-9851 hooked up to the mb quarts fwa-160s

  • PLEASE NOTE: ALL COMMENTS WILL NEED TO BE APPROVED BY ME BEFORE THEY GO LIVE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING!!

  • Cool dude!

  • Could you please tell me the name of the song you played to test the boombox? at 3:18

  • @metalicpsp Yes, that is a great song! It is "Chelsea's Day" by Sam Cardon. Another good one is "Barbados" by Kilauea. I use both for all of my SQ testing...

  • add a Ai-net to rca adapter and you can plug and ipod or such to it.

  • @jmontoya21 Yeah, I have the Ai-net to RCA Adapter and it works great. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm always looking for ways to make this better!

  • sweet, but when do u actually plan on using it?

  • @Cruzer23 Funny, my dad said the same thing! I use it in the garage and it is portable enough for me to take with me to the lake (on the boat) and we've also used it during cookouts or just chillin' out on the porch. Now, once you add the subwoofer addon, this question becomes much more appropriate....
