In Italy there is a scientific TV programme called "Quark" (now "Superquark") on air for some 30 years now, whose introductory theme is precisely this one.
It is not luck it is GOD. anyways this is one of the only unmemorable things I got from Gran turismo 4. taught me the love for classical and the passion to feel music.
@batura1 definetly, the universe is infinite, and since a small part of infinite there are an unlimited ammount of planets, and thus an unlimited ammount of possibilities. There is a world that is exactly the same as ours, only that my comment misses a letter somewhere. There is worlds where Bach still lives. There is worlds where you are a famous writer or something. Isnt that amazing?
has anyone ever considered how extremely low the possibility of our existance really was when the first universe was created? Or how extremely lucky you and i are to be here. The smallest changes, like a rock laying 2 meters in one other direction, could have made it i wasnt alive. Its frightening as well as humbeling.
@ThePellespelle Certainly it's frightening if you believe physical matter preceded consciousness and that consciousness is dependent upon matter for its existence.
@davehshs of course physical matter preceded consciousness, im an atheist son! and how else would concsiousness exist if not in our brains?? we need matter to make the brain connections that makes us who we are.
@ThePellespelle Atheism is as much a religion as any theism. Even though there are MANY documented instances of conscious awareness of distant phenomena with no possible sensory input, I would no more expect you to accept any such evidence than I would expect a fundamentalist Christian to accept proof that the Bible is full of contradictions and errors.
@davehshs yes, but i belive there is a logical explonation to those distant phenomenas, such as aliens or something we cant explain, or haven't yet discovered.
@ThePellespelle Researchers have repeatedly confirmed that people in near-death situations have had out-of-body experiences during which they were able to witness events happening in other rooms or even distant places. These accounts have been objectively verified by independent observers. A person with a truly open, scientific mind would accept this evidence. It is unscientific to insist that all reality must conform to one's UNPROVEN BELIEF that all reality is materialistic.
@davehshs i dont think ur a very unbiased source of information, and i wont accept proof that you tell me. You are just a stranger on the internet. Though i have an open mind to things, i dont see that as conclusive proof. People can lie, and also in what way have they verified? Did they see the dying person outside his body?
@ThePellespelle Seeing the dying person outside his body is not the point. The point is his witnessing of events that he could not have perceived with his 5 senses. Psychologist Dr. Kenneth Ring wrote an article in Vol. 11, No. 4, of the Journal of Near-Death Studies listing a number of people's verified distant perceptions in "near-death" experiences. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross also wrote of a number of blind people's verified seeing of events while unconscious.
@davehshs There's a part of the brain which is responsible for the feeling of 'centred-ness', that is, being inside your body. If it's inhibited, a person will feel as though they are disconnected from, or outside of, their body. And as for actual 'distant perceptions', they are as reliable as horoscope predictions or prophetic dreams: selection bias means that people forget all the dreams they have that don't mean anything, and focus on the seemingly significant ones.
@hewhosayszonk My point really isn't about being "outside" the body. I'm talking about MANY cases of patients on the operating table who later were able to recount detailed conversations and events taking place at that time in OTHER locations. Such happenings may not fit any current scientific theory, but only a very unscientific person ignores data that he cannot explain. The 'selection bias' comment is nonsense. Scientists always focus on significant data and ignore the irrelevant.
I love this song. Since I was a child it's been my favorite, and it always will be. I love how no matter who plays it, it's always beautiful. This being no exception
questa è la parte de la sinfonia di bach que ascolto sempre. mi fa sospirare e mi fa desiderare di essere nello spazio, assorto. oh, dio... vorrei a piangere
It's a shame that the hubble telescope is coming back down to our own planet. However, it has come to my attention that the starshade project will be beginning soon.
The great beauty of this piece is in its exquisite poignancy. It is almost gut wrenching. Every note has to savored to its fullest, before taking in the next one. A great meal is never hurried.
@1198g Actually, the Voyager Spacecraft that was launched in 1977 has recordings of music on it, including selections from Bach's Brandenberg Concertos. It was launched with no specific destination in mind, but will be near a certain star in the Ophiucus constellation in 40,000 years. Maybe some day, long after earth is gone, other beings WILL listen to the music of Bach, and hear other recorded sounds from our planet as well.
Yes..!!! Voyager I has a especific music including one of my country Mexico "El Cascabel" (Mariachi)
but I love JS Bach....I have a degree in Gregorian Chant and Organ from The School of Sacred Music in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I haven't heard yet music so perfect, mathematical, conciuous that place your mind and body ahead of this world, Bach was truly, like Beethoven said "father of harmony" he studied and learned Bach's "The Clavier Well Tempered" and the rest is history.
@MANN5X1 I love Bach too, and I love Mexican culture as well! There's much more to it than the stereotypes that come to mind for most Americans, and I learned this from my German and Dutch parents. I especially love Mexican art, architecture and music of the Baroque period.
Is there a scientific answer as to why this reaches in and grabs ahold of a person's emotions? What is it that's so magical about that melody and the chords?
beautiful rendition. I like the choice to emphasize individual voices on the strings instead of too much multi-voicing. This is a piece lending itself to individual voice without homogeny. Nicely done!! One of the better renditions of Air I have ever heard. Good pacing and meter as well.
When I listen to this music when I am sad, make me cry and if I listen to when I'm happy, put a big smile on my face. Is it normal or is it just me?
